These pills aren't working anymore
My guts are spilling out onto the floor
Of a nightmare you wouldn't believe
Of a nightmare you could not conceive of

You're floating above my head
There are words carved in my chest and they said...
"Could somebody show me the kind of affection
That you only see in the movies,
You know what I mean"

I will suck the elixir from your fingertips
Until I feel my head start caving in
My mouth will overflow with your evil soul
And I'll be convulsing for days in this hole
Bubbling at the lips that you used to love to kiss
Well, I think I'm trying to wake up, but I can't

These pills aren't working anymore
My eyes are gouged out and rolling under the door
It blacks out the nightmare you wouldn't believe
A nightmare you could not conceive of

You're floating above my head
There are words carved in my chest and they said...
"Could somebody show me the kind of affection
That you only see in the movies,
You know what I mean, you know what I mean"

I will suck the elixir from your fingertips
Until I feel my head start caving in
My mouth will overflow with your evil soul
And I'll be convulsing for days in this hole
Bubbling at the lips

I know you never meant to do everything you put me through
It's okay I forgive you
Just know that when you see me cringe sometimes
I'm trying to rid the poison from my mind

I know you never meant to do everything you put me through
It's okay I forgive you
Just know that when you see me cringe sometimes
I'm trying to rid the poison from my mind

I will suck the elixir from your fingertips
Until I feel my head start caving in
My mouth will overflow with your evil soul
And I'll be convulsing for days in this hole

probably one of my favorite spill canvas songs. Its about someone who is so paralized by a breakup they must result to drugs and medication to get over their ex. she's got so many problems but she feels so good for the singer. for him she is like a drug that he used to medicate himself with however now that she is not there the feeling he gets from real medication is not the same. he tries to get rid of all of the painful thoughts of her but it is impossible. she cant even begin to understand the hell that he is experiencing. he wants his life to be surreal and beautiful like in the movies however he does not find things to be that way. Although he knows that she is bad he gives this girl the benifit of the doubt saying that she did not mean to do everything she did, but he wants her to know all of the pain that he is going through because of her.

I'm trying to rid the poison from my mind

This song, to me, is about a breakup that was probably for the best, but he just can't get over it, as much as he knows he should... Maybe it hits me this way because that's the situation I find myself in, but oh well...

this song hits me hard...because just as many of you.. i feel in the same situation. for me one of the awsome lyrical points is the elixar. he is saying that everything this girl touches turns to gold and he is going to do everything he can to stop her. he cant get over her because shes so amazing but the poison in his mind is the terrible feeling of being apart from her.(damn you v.) lyrically and musically, i havent come across a band that is close to this calibre (if i use big word is should try to spel it right) i

"Could somebody show me the kind of affection that you only see in the movies" "you know what i mean"

almost everyone here does know what he means. that is his amazing talent. he can make us see and feel so much in one five minute song so that we can all relate. we have all been in this position. we just cant always find the words to relate to others what we're feeling. he is undoubtedly one of the absolute best lyricists i've ever experienced.

i love this song, i think we can all find oursleves to others and like one of you said, you cant always find the words to relate the way your feeling to others. this is great (the song not the situation we find ourselves in) because when you cant do that ypu can put on a song and know that at least some one understands. it helps to know your not totally alone. the thing i love about sc is the way he sings with his voice thick with emotion love you all

ahh. my fave TSC song... so sad there's not many comments on it. but anyways-

I know you never meant to do everything you put me through It's okay I forgive you Just know that when you see me cringe sometimes I'm trying to rid the poison from my mind

that's amazing. right there. It's just saying that "I could never hate you for what you've done,I know you didn't purposely come up to me and stab me in my heart. But sometime's i'm going to hurt and not feel good, I can't help it. I'm a human being."

this is my favorite favorite favorite spill canvas song. i ask him to play it all the time at shows, and he won't. :( i relate so much, and i love the "i know you never mean to do...." and in my case, i feel that way, but don't honestly, deep down forgive...and i feel like he didnt really forgive her. i asked and he said that he forgave her at the time he was writing it, but not now. maybe again later.

and i dont think he's using the term "elixir" as in "turns everything to gold"

i think he's using it as a term for an "all-healing" substance. saying, her touch can heal anything. make him happy, feel love, want to be alive, and he's going to suck that feeling from her fingertips till he no longer can take it in.

oh my i love this song. and affection like in the movies..my goodness, that line is just gorgeous.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
