Here I stand all alone
Have my mind turned to stone
Have my heart filled up with ice
To avoid it's breakin' twice

Thanks to you, my dear old friend
But you can't help, this is the end
Of a tale that wasn't right
I won't have no sleep tonight

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

It's alright, we'll stay friends
Trustin' in my confidence
And let's say it's just alright
You won't sleep alone tonight

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

With my heart, with my soul
Some guys cry, you bought and sold
They've been strong, young and bold
And they say, play this song again

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

    My Interpretation

This song is probably a love song, but I can’t help thinking about it in a different way.

A friend of mine, who was a great Helloween fan, committed suicide last month and He was always the one who invited us to have some beers, to just go around and see each other, etc.

I’ve been diagnosed with depression and I believe he also suffered from it due his way of seeing life in the last couple of months. We got even closer once we had been having the same problems with work, family and relationship.

I’ve always been the tough guy, the one who doesn’t care about anything.

With that in mind, I’ve came to think this song is about losing a friend

“Here I stand all alone Have my mind turned to stone Have my heart filled up with ice To avoid it's breakin' twice”

The person who didn’t commit suicide is there, trying also no to break

“Thanks to you, my dear old friend But you can't help, this is the end Of a tale that wasn't right I won't have no sleep tonight”

He’s telling to all the people trying to support him that they can’t do it

“In my heart, in my soul I really hate to pay this toll Should be strong, young and bold But the only thing I feel is pain”

This toll of knowing how depressed his friend was and not helping him properly

“It's alright, we'll stay friends Trustin' in my confidence And let's say it's just alright You won't sleep alone tonight”

Telling to all the friend they used to have in common that things won’t change and he will be there to help them

    (…)

“With my heart, with my soul Some guys cry, you bought and sold They've been strong, young and bold And they say, play this song again”

The friend of the one who committed suicide are crying due what he did, despite that, they’ve been trying to do their best to get better and ask to play this song again as a way of remembering him.

A great song from Helloween, this one tells about ending a relationship that wasn't going the right way, the pain felt resulting from the break-up and the desire to stay in touch.

It's about a friend backstabbing the other. At many parts of the song he still forgives him and says no matter what, he will always be there for him. It seemed to me as if he was betrayed by his best friend and couldn't believe it.

    My Opinion

Someone who really loved a person but got rejected/friendzoned

'its alright we can stay friends'

    'trusting in my confidence'

person trusted itself, became condifent but still failed/friendzoned got heart broken and lost all feelings

Now the person sees the person it loved go with someone else, leaving the person in misery.

Since it loves the person so much the person will still wants the person who it loves instead moving on

'i really hate to pay this toll'

Since the person still loves and stays as friends, every moment or thought that includes the loved one costs him so much it feels in its soul and heart

'thanks to you my dear old friend, but you cant help this is the end'

'The "friend" (loved one)' the person speaks to itself not sharing what it feels to the loved person thats why the loved one cant help because the person dont want to get heart broken again nor has the confidence to talk about it, so the person is helpless.

I agree... this song just rocks! Madman2, that is an interesting interpretation, I always thought the line 'you won't sleep alone tonight' meant they will have one more time together before officially calling it off.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
