Must be your skin that I'm sinking in
Must be for real 'cause now I can feel
And I didn't mind
It's not my kind
Not my time to wonder why
Everything's gone white
And everything's grey
Now you're here now you're away
I don't want this
Remember that
I'll never forget where you're at
Don't let the days go by
Glycerin
I'm never alone
I'm alone all the time
Are you at one
Or do you lie
We live in a wheel
Where everyone steals
But when we rise it's like strawberry fields
If I treated you bad
You bruise my face
Couldn't love you more
You got a beautiful taste
Don't let the days go by
Could have been easier on you
I couldn't change though I wanted to
Could have been easier by three
Our old friend fear and you and me
Glycerin (repeat)
Don't let the days go by
Glycerin
Bad moon white again
Bad moon white again
And she falls around me
I needed you more
You wanted us less
I could not kiss just regress
It might just be
Clear simple and plain
That's just fine
That's just one of my names
Don't let the days go by
Could've been easier on you
Glycerine

General Comment:For me, the song relates to my first love. Glycerine is one of my most favorite songs ever. "It must be your skin that i'm sinking in" means he's is getting under her skin but then says but i didn't mind meaning he is willing to deal with it cause they are in love. I also like the lyric "now your hear now your away" because it seems like in any relationship there are times where you are very in love and times where it's hard to tell if the other person even cares. The song is about the end of a relationship that hasn't officially ended yet, and the person still has feelings. The lyric "i'll never forget where you're at" means no matter what he will always love her. Another lyric i really like is "i'm never alone, i'm alone all the time" because to me it represents having a lot of friends but still feeling alone. Another reason I can connect to the song is because I'm afraid to get hurt in a relationship and i think the lyric "Could have been easier on you, I couldn't change though I wanted to, could have been easier by three, our old friend fear and you and me" relates to that.

My Opinion:I've read through several pages of opinons as to the meaning of this song. The lyrics suggest it is in fact about a failing relationship but they are still quite ambiquous. Once in a while, you run across a song in which the lyrics are very straightforward and there is no room for doubt in it's interpretation. But for the most part, it's never that easy. They are ambiguous for a reason. I believe the ultimate goal for the composer is for the listener to come up with his/her own take on the song. Our interpretation is based on our personal perception and that is based on our very unique and personal life experiences. What else do we have to base anything on? I could be way off base here, but I rather like the thought that this is what composers has in mind. Simply draw your own conclusion and stand by it:) Works for me.
Now for a real challenge, lets decipher an instrumental piece. Sorry bout that one. It gave me a chuckle so thought I would just leave it in.

General Comment:I'm not a huge Bush fan, at all, but I honestly believe that with this one song, they flirted with rock'n'roll greatness and immortality. Defining rock song of the second half of the 90's?

General Comment:It must be your skin, I'm sinking in...it must be for real cause now I can feel, Refers to heroin use. The song is about drug use and a turmoil filled relationship as a result.

General Comment:I believe that this song is about a relationship with a girl and it being ruined because of his addiction to heroin.
"Must be your skin, that i'm sinking in" means he is driving his lover nuts (getting under her skin)...he didn't take it serious and didn't change his ways.
"Must be for real cause now I can feel" means she ended the relationship.
"And I didn't mind It's not my kind Not my time to wonder why" He acted like he didn't care and had no intentions on changing his ways.

During the rest of the song, he talks about his feeling of both getting high and his relationship. He wants to pick her, but realizes he's in too deep with his addiction.

Just my take, It's difficult lyrics to interpret. I could see why someone would think it's about either heroin or a relationship and not both, but I think it's about a relationship gone bad because of his addiction and his unwillingness to quit getting high.

General Comment:Title made me think of Nitroglycerine, an explosive. Sure, it may be Glycerine now, but when all that anger and bitterness ferments it gets to a point where you feel like you're going to blow up.

General Comment:glycerine is one of the chemicals used in abortions and for me this will always be the meaning of it (an unwanted abortion but has to be done)

General Comment:Most alternative rock bands that formed after the original grunge wave sucked, but early Bush stands right up there with all of them.

My Opinion:>,< how many people fail to realize that glycerine is a preservative, much like petroleum jelly, that is often used for both medicines and keeping food fresh (also sweetens foods) not only that, glycerine is most commonly used for medicines that treat burns.
