I'm feeling sexy and free
Like glitter's raining on me
You're like a shot of pure gold
I think I'm 'bout to explode
I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there
Don't you know you spin me out of control

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
We can do this all night
Damn this love is skin tight
Baby come on
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Pull me like a bass drum
Sparkin' up a rhythm
Baby, come on!
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

You got me losing my mind
My heart beats out of time
I'm seeing Hollywood stars
You strum me like a guitar
I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause your taking me there
Don't you know you spin me out of control

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
We can do this all night
Damn this love is skin tight
Baby come on
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Pull me like a bass drum
Sparkin' up a rhythm
Baby, come on!
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

Ooh baby, baby, got me feelin' so right
Ooh baby, baby, dancin' in the moonlight

Ooh baby, baby, got me feelin' so right
Ooh baby, baby

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino

I love songs in English but when I read some of the lyrics, I get disappointed. I am a bit surprised how sex oriented most lyrics are in English songs and quite openly. There's nothing wrong with being romantic, but to me some lyrics sound a bit crude. Is it just me? Saying that, Jessie J's voice is sublime!

Jessie wrote this song a few days after she broke her foot as it is the total oppostie to what she actually felt.

    My Interpretation

To me, this song is about the effect of drugs in the pleasurable sense.

"I'm feeling sexy and free Like glitters raining on me You're like a shot of pure gold I think I'm 'bout to explode I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

Here, she's talking about her feelings when she's took whatever drug. "You're like a shot of pure gold,""Now I'm breathing like I'm running," and "Don't you know you spin me out of control?" all point to what drugs do to you.

"We can do this all night Damn this love is skin tight Baby come on Ooh ooh ooh ooh Pull me like a bass drum Sparkin' up a rhythm Baby, come on!"

"We can do this all night," a lot of drug users do do it all night, be it in clubs or at home. "Sparkin' up a rhythm," sparkin' up refers to lighting up a cigarette or a joint.

"[Chorus] Rock my world into the sunlight Make this dream the best I've ever known Dirty dancing in the moonlight Take me down like I'm a domino Every second is a highlight When we touch don't ever let me go Dirty dancing in the moonlight Take me down like I'm a domino."

"Make this dream the best I've ever known," she's in an imaginary world, a hallucinogenic world due to the stimulant. "Every second is a highlight, when we touch don't ever let me go," she feels pure ecstasy, and whenever the drug touches her physically and mentally, she doesn't want it to leave her at all.

"You got me losing my mind My heart beats out of time I'm seeing Hollywood stars You strum me like a guitar I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause your taking me there Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

"You got me losing my mind, my heart beats out of time," Her mind is unhinged, and her body's reacting the effects. "I'm seeing Hollywood stars," this could refer to the fact that a lot of Hollywood is based on drugs/ that drug taking happens a lot there, or that she's hallucinating.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that this song is about drug use. I think it's cleverly masked behind the pretense of a romantic song. At the end of the day, however, it's a brilliant pop song. :)

I feel like this song could be about sex. Then I feel like it could be about love.

    Song Meaning

Catchy song, meaning is pretty straightforward: having a great romp between the sheets with someone you are really attracted to.

"Rock my world into the sunlight" should be "Work my world into the sunlight". You can tell because the "o" in "rock" sounds completely different from the "o" in "work". Also you can hear her say the "rk" sound at the end, as well as the "w" sound at the beginning! Jessie J's a good singer with great diction and I'm not sure why there is confusion over the lyrics.

As to the song's meaning, to me it seems contradictory that she's "feeling sexy and free" and at the same time "out of control". Freedom is not being in control of your actions? Seems a little bit doublethink-y but, on the other hand, maybe it's no big deal because it's just a pop song. Pop songs are just fluff, right? And there's no point in looking past the pasted-together cliches and obvious romantic/sexual aspect of the lyrics...

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
