Lyric discussion by SamuelLeumas

To me, this song is about the effect of drugs in the pleasurable sense.

"I'm feeling sexy and free Like glitters raining on me You're like a shot of pure gold I think I'm 'bout to explode I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

Here, she's talking about her feelings when she's took whatever drug. "You're like a shot of pure gold,""Now I'm breathing like I'm running," and "Don't you know you spin me out of control?" all point to what drugs do to you.

"We can do this all night Damn this love is skin tight Baby come on Ooh ooh ooh ooh Pull me like a bass drum Sparkin' up a rhythm Baby, come on!"

"We can do this all night," a lot of drug users do do it all night, be it in clubs or at home. "Sparkin' up a rhythm," sparkin' up refers to lighting up a cigarette or a joint.

"[Chorus] Rock my world into the sunlight Make this dream the best I've ever known Dirty dancing in the moonlight Take me down like I'm a domino Every second is a highlight When we touch don't ever let me go Dirty dancing in the moonlight Take me down like I'm a domino."

"Make this dream the best I've ever known," she's in an imaginary world, a hallucinogenic world due to the stimulant. "Every second is a highlight, when we touch don't ever let me go," she feels pure ecstasy, and whenever the drug touches her physically and mentally, she doesn't want it to leave her at all.

"You got me losing my mind My heart beats out of time I'm seeing Hollywood stars You strum me like a guitar I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause your taking me there Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

"You got me losing my mind, my heart beats out of time," Her mind is unhinged, and her body's reacting the effects. "I'm seeing Hollywood stars," this could refer to the fact that a lot of Hollywood is based on drugs/ that drug taking happens a lot there, or that she's hallucinating.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that this song is about drug use. I think it's cleverly masked behind the pretense of a romantic song. At the end of the day, however, it's a brilliant pop song. :)

@SamuelLeumas I think I have to agree with you, because a few lines in it don't align with sex for me.

e.g. Your like a shot of pure gold - you wouldn't have this line at the start (sort of implies the man has come, which would be at the end of a song)

Pull me like a bass drum - I could understand if from a man's perspective, but drugs are more likely to have a pulling effect on you (if you're a female)

Sparkin' up a rhythm - drug reference all day
