Skrillex – With You, Friends (Long Drive) Lyrics 9 years ago
I don't agree with these lyrics, except the final, speaking part. Instead, I think that Sonny's trying to convey emotion through vocals, and not words. It works beautifully, as I get the impression that there's an underlying longing and sadness to this song.
In the middle of the song, we hear one word uttered three times, "you". I believe that this is Sonny simply expressing his emotion for someone else. It could be an unrequited relationship, a family member, a friend, or someone who's passed away.
At the end, I can only assume that the words were put in as a thank you to his fans, or as a minor joke.

Skrillex – Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites Lyrics 9 years ago
I think that despite the reputation this song's got, that it's packed with emotion and soul.
The song is about someone who is depressed, their mind is messed up, and their life crumbling away. In this case, he's a homosexual man, and hates himself because of it.
The opening lyrics is someone trying to help him, trying to tell him that it's okay, he's just like him; but because of who he believes he is, he doesn't listen, and everything sounds jumbled and corrupted.
The drop to my what he is feeling. That guttural grotesqueness symbolises how he's represented.
When the words are finally decipherable, the man understands that he's had someone there all along, as now he can hear him.
I won't end this with an "and they all lived happily ever after" haha. ;)

Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song is about a transvesite seducing a straight man.

"I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas plays
Fold 'em, let 'em, hit me, raise it baby stay with me (I love it)
Luck and intuition play the cards with spades to start
And after he's been hooked I'll play the one that's on his heart."

"I wanna hold 'em" to me refers to her holding balls, either his or hers. "Baby stay with me" even though I'm a man, stay with me anyway. "Luck and intuition play the cards with spades to start," it takes luck and intuition to decide which man will be worth it. "And after he's been hooked, I'll play the one that's one his heart." once I've got him seduced, I'll start messing around with him.

"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh,
I'll get him hot, show him what I've got."

Here she's saying she's gonna get him bed, sexy and ready, then she'll show him her penis.

"[Chorus]
Can't read my,
Can't read my,
No he can't read my poker face
(She's got me like nobody)
Can't read my
Can't read my
No he can't read my poker face
(She is gonna let nobody)"

He can't tell I'm lying about who I am. "She's got me like nobody" refers to the fact that this transvestite is doing it like no one else he's ever had. None of the other women compare to this escapade.

"I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you're with me (I love it)
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it's love, if its not rough it isn't fun, fun."

First line: I wanna have sex with, we'll both be hard in bed.
Second: Just do it, baby, gamble with your lust instead.
Third: a risky game is different with what I'll show you
Fourth: and even if you love me, you'll be angry when I do.

"I won't tell you that I love you
Kiss or hug you
'Cause I'm bluffing with my muffin
I'm not lying I'm just stunning with my love glue gunnin'
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand cause I'm marvelous."

Here she's confessing to her sexuality. She's bluffin' with her nonexistent muffin, and she's glue gunnin', referring to her sperm. "Take your bank before I pay you out," I'll pay you with my member. "Check this hand 'cause I'm marvelous," My hands give away my gender.

This sounds stupid, but it's what I like to imagine. ;p

Royce Campbell – In a Sentimental Mood Lyrics 9 years ago
My interpretation is that this person was in a depressed, lonely state, but suddenly, someone came into his life who transformed it into pure delight. Now I honestly believe that EVERY lyric of a song has many meanings, and therefore I have an inkling that drugs may be this person I assume of, with its illusion of happiness; but I favour more to the human side. :P
The line "I can see the stars come thru my room" has two meanings for me: 1, is that the room, or his life, is so incredibly dark, that it rivals the night, and 2, he is seeing his life unfold before his eyes, as the stars represent fate.
But back to my previous theory, regarding drugs, I can't help but feel that these talks of "heavenly nights" and "paradise" allude to them in some way.
Maybe I'm going crazy haha. :)

Nicki Minaj – Dear Old Nicki Lyrics 9 years ago
I think this song's about Nicki selling her soul for fame and money. There are many allusions to it in the song, but the opening line confirms it for me.

Jessie J – Domino Lyrics 9 years ago
To me, this song is about the effect of drugs in the pleasurable sense.

"I'm feeling sexy and free
Like glitters raining on me
You're like a shot of pure gold
I think I'm 'bout to explode
I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause you're taking me there
Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

Here, she's talking about her feelings when she's took whatever drug. "You're like a shot of pure gold,""Now I'm breathing like I'm running," and "Don't you know you spin me out of control?" all point to what drugs do to you.

"We can do this all night
Damn this love is skin tight
Baby come on
Ooh ooh ooh ooh
Pull me like a bass drum
Sparkin' up a rhythm
Baby, come on!"

"We can do this all night," a lot of drug users do do it all night, be it in clubs or at home. "Sparkin' up a rhythm," sparkin' up refers to lighting up a cigarette or a joint.

"[Chorus]
Rock my world into the sunlight
Make this dream the best I've ever known
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino
Every second is a highlight
When we touch don't ever let me go
Dirty dancing in the moonlight
Take me down like I'm a domino."

"Make this dream the best I've ever known," she's in an imaginary world, a hallucinogenic world due to the stimulant. "Every second is a highlight, when we touch don't ever let me go," she feels pure ecstasy, and whenever the drug touches her physically and mentally, she doesn't want it to leave her at all.

"You got me losing my mind
My heart beats out of time
I'm seeing Hollywood stars
You strum me like a guitar
I can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air
Now I'm breathing like I'm running cause your taking me there
Don't you know you spin me out of control?"

"You got me losing my mind, my heart beats out of time," Her mind is unhinged, and her body's reacting the effects. "I'm seeing Hollywood stars," this could refer to the fact that a lot of Hollywood is based on drugs/ that drug taking happens a lot there, or that she's hallucinating.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that this song is about drug use. I think it's cleverly masked behind the pretense of a romantic song. At the end of the day, however, it's a brilliant pop song. :)

Rihanna – Disturbia Lyrics 9 years ago
In my opinion, this song is about unrequited love:

"No more gas in the red
Can't even get it started
Nothing heard, nothing said
Can't even speak about it
All my life on my head
Don't want to think about it
Feels like I'm going insane
Yeah"

Here she's saying what it's like to be plagued with the thoughts of someone else who doesn't like you back. "Don't want to think about it, feels like I'm going insane," to me suggests that the thought of that person is destroying her soul, as it actually does. "No more gas, in the red," you just have no energy or passion in life except for that one person. "Can't even speak about it," No one else understands your problems.

"It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you
It can creep up inside you
And consume you
A disease of the mind
It can control you
It's too close for comfort"

"It's a thief in the night to come and grab you," When you're lying in bed, and your mind is wandering and flying by, and also even in your dreams, you're reminded of how much that person will never be yours and how perfect they are. It definitely creeps inside you, slowly but surely, and can make you do silly things just to get their attention.

"[Chorus]
Throw on your break lights
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must falter be wise
Your mind is in Disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight
Your mind is in Disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia"

I struggle deciphering this part, or at least connecting it with my initial theory. What others have said about the song actually referring to the corruption of Hollywood and the entertainment industry does indeed draw parallels, but if I try to connect it with unrequited love, I'll say "Watch out, you might just go under" leans towards the depression or even suicide that comes from the pain of rejection. You'll need to keep a strong grip on your mind if you want to get over this, as it's in a "disturbed" state.

"Faded pictures on the wall
It's like they talkin' to me
Disconnectin' your call
Your phone don't even ring
I gotta get out
Or figure this shit out
It's too close for comfort"

"Faded pictures on the wall," Memories, pictures, anything that's connected that person can drive you crazy with the recollection. "I gotta get out, or figure this shit out," I've just got to leave this place, or do something else, to clear my mind of this torment. I've got to get over it.

"Release me from this curse I'm in
I've been trying to maintain
But I'm struggling
You can't go, go, go
I think I'm going to oh, oh, oh"

She's trying to do anything to get over it. She's trying to keep hold on reality, but the curse isn't letting her go. "You can't go," to me is the unrequited love itself speaking to her. "I think I'm going to..." Who knows what she's going to do? There are many interpretations, but in my opinion, I think she'd finish it with "go crazy".

All in all, this song is brilliant, and I love it. :) I absolutely adore hearing all the other theories as to the song's lyrics, and I hope mine does too. If this specific theory isn't the official one, then I'd sway to the one of "corrupted Hollywood" much more. :) Thank you everyone!
