I can't get started from the part where I left off yesterday
Should have spent my time a little wiser
I sat alone
Guilty as sin
Waiting for words to come
From out of my head
Still making sense to anyone

I can't wait to understand the reason
I've yet to translate any meaning
Besides, it's not worth it to try
Get out
Get out

Locked myself up in a room without a window
Just to see
If it was any easier to breathe
(I was wrong)
Never underestimate the daylight
There, it's so much easier to breathe (yeah)

I can't wait to understand the reason
I've yet to translate any meaning
Besides, it's not worth it to try
Get out
Get out
Get out
Get out

There's no meaning
Besides, it's not worth it to try
Get out
Get out
Get out
Get out

Get out
Yeah

In my opinion, i think this song is about writers block. And I deffinitly think anythony was not under the influence of absolutly anything when he wrote it. Its so straight up and clear. Which is weird for him. Its still good stuff. Writers block, and recording.

"I can't get started from the part Where I left off yesterday Shoulda spent my time a little wiser

I sat alone guilty as sin Waiting for words to come From out of my head Still making sense to anyone

    Song Meaning

First off, this song is different but in a good way for circa Survive! It's catchy, bold and well awesome :P. Now for the meaning, I agree with you who say its about writer's block, and that hes describing his writing process for lyrics throughout the song as evident by "waiting for words to come..." But I think this song goes deeper, it's something maybe here in this community isn't so welcome, I am talking about the part where Anthony writes "I can't wait to understand the reason I've yet to translate any meaning besides It's not worth it to try" I've heard in interviews about how he doesn't know how he comes up with this shit. Look it up on youtube. The meaning is that it's not worth it to even assign a meaning to a song. Anthony says this because once the song gets out so many people will look at it and take their own meaning for it, making his own original meaning just another one of many, the artist's meaning doesnt matter in a way. My argument is supported also by the when he says "still making sense to anyone" to tie it all together the whole thing about the room and sunlight and breathing is I think he's saying daylight is inspiring, but I think the tracking time with sunlight idea is very interesting it doesnt seem to fit with the rest of it. He is telling the reader to get out, get outside in the sunlight as he has, if you were to call the song congruent, and it is easier to breathe outside, symbolically though, speculating here Anthony is saying to get out there to live, breathe is necessary to us and its easier to breathe outside so get out there do things, breathe, write do your thing.

At first, I really didn't even think about this song relating to writer's block, but after reading some of the explanations I can understand why it seems likely. I prefer to think that Anthony wouldn't write two songs about an identical subject that, in my opinion, isn't really worth discussing. Stress should be placed on the lyrics, not on how difficult it was to write them. I still love The Only Difference, it's an amazing song, but a rather uninteresting topic.

With that being said, I interpreted this song, moderately similar to the others found here, as Anthony's style of living how he has changed.

"I can't get started from the part Where I left off yesterday I should've spent my time a little wiser."

Obviously, he was doing something important and was interrupted. In my opinion, he was most likely thinking about an event or several events in his life that upset him. Instead of continuing to think about it and getting it sorted out, he pushed it out of his mind. In the end, however, he realized that it needed to be taken care of, as he is thinking about it again but can't remember where he left off, and he knows his time should have been spent wiser.

"I sat alone, guilty, in sin, Waiting for words to come From out of my head Still making sense to anyone."

This part hints at his time spent in solitude and inhibition of what he feels. The phrase "Waiting for words to come" shows either his confusion about what is happening in his life or his difficulty expressing these analyzations to those around him.

"I can't wait to understand the reason. I have yet to translate Any meaning, besides, it's not worth it to try. Get out, get out."

    Look at next stanza analysis.

"Locked myself up in a room without a window Just to see If it was any easier to breathe. I was wrong Never underestimate the daylight, The air is so much easier to breathe."

This is by far my favorite stanza. I felt that the room without the window represents his withdrawal from his surroundings; specifically, talking to other people about his problems or worries. He shut himself up in the room in an attempt to think more clearly about his life, but found that just talking with other people and expressing himself, symbolized by the daylight and how much easier it is to breathe, was a more productive endeavor. In the preceding stanza, I think that he is saying that he cannot interpret anything traumatic or even beneficial in his life without sharing his experiences with another person. This is why I feel that "get out" is a Anthony's advice to his audience to just get out of the room and open up.

As for the event or whatever inspired his troubles, I cannot even begin to speculate. I appreciate his music and Circa Survive is by far my favorite band, but I have just never taken the time to learn everything about his life.

Feel free to respond, but if you do, please disagree with me or at least add something on to what I've written. Nothing's more boring than "I totally agree, you're totally right.", which I know I'm not.

    Song Meaning

Green wrote the song about overcoming his cocaine addiction. When they were writing BSN He struggled with it and he agreed to go to rehab. The house they stayed in while writing it was somewhere in PA, on a creek, giving the inspiration for 'Frozen Creek' as well.

I think this song may be talking about writer's block. Something Anthony did with 'The Only Difference Between Medicine And Poison Is the Dose". Watching their studio videos it seems like they were rushed in their last days of recording, I wonder if these lyrics were a result? Haha.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
