At first, I really didn't even think about this song relating to writer's block, but after reading some of the explanations I can understand why it seems likely. I prefer to think that Anthony wouldn't write two songs about an identical subject that, in my opinion, isn't really worth discussing. Stress should be placed on the lyrics, not on how difficult it was to write them. I still love The Only Difference, it's an amazing song, but a rather uninteresting topic.
With that being said, I interpreted this song, moderately similar to the others found here, as Anthony's style of living how he has changed.
"I can't get started from the part
Where I left off yesterday
I should've spent my time a little wiser."
Obviously, he was doing something important and was interrupted. In my opinion, he was most likely thinking about an event or several events in his life that upset him. Instead of continuing to think about it and getting it sorted out, he pushed it out of his mind. In the end, however, he realized that it needed to be taken care of, as he is thinking about it again but can't remember where he left off, and he knows his time should have been spent wiser.
"I sat alone, guilty, in sin,
Waiting for words to come
From out of my head
Still making sense to anyone."
This part hints at his time spent in solitude and inhibition of what he feels. The phrase "Waiting for words to come" shows either his confusion about what is happening in his life or his difficulty expressing these analyzations to those around him.
"I can't wait to understand the reason.
I have yet to translate
Any meaning, besides, it's not worth it to try.
Get out, get out."
Look at next stanza analysis.
"Locked myself up in a room without a window
Just to see
If it was any easier to breathe.
I was wrong
Never underestimate the daylight,
The air is so much easier to breathe."
This is by far my favorite stanza. I felt that the room without the window represents his withdrawal from his surroundings; specifically, talking to other people about his problems or worries. He shut himself up in the room in an attempt to think more clearly about his life, but found that just talking with other people and expressing himself, symbolized by the daylight and how much easier it is to breathe, was a more productive endeavor. In the preceding stanza, I think that he is saying that he cannot interpret anything traumatic or even beneficial in his life without sharing his experiences with another person. This is why I feel that "get out" is a Anthony's advice to his audience to just get out of the room and open up.
As for the event or whatever inspired his troubles, I cannot even begin to speculate. I appreciate his music and Circa Survive is by far my favorite band, but I have just never taken the time to learn everything about his life.
