Closed off from love, I didn't need the pain
Once or twice was enough and it was all in vain
Time starts to pass, before you know it, you're frozen, ooh
But something happened for the very first time with you
My heart melts into the ground, found something true
And everyone's looking 'round, thinking I'm going crazy, oh

But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away, but they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
Oh yeah

Trying hard not to hear, but they talk so loud
Their piercing sounds fill my ears, try to fill me with doubt
Yet I know that their goal is to keep me from falling, hey, oh
But nothing's greater than the rush that comes with your embrace
And in this world of loneliness, I see your face
Yet everyone around me thinks that I'm going crazy
Maybe, maybe

But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away, but they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
You cut me open and I

Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open, mm, mm

And it's draining all of me
Though they find it hard to believe
I'll be wearing these scars for everyone to see

I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away, but they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing
Oh, you cut me open and I

Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
Oh, you cut me open and I

Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding, I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love
I keep
Oh, you cut me open and I
Keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love

i think this is about a woman whos been hurt in the past and in order to stop herself from getting hurt shes closed her heart off to the world. Until she met this man that made her melt and see love in a different light again.

But like the others he hurt her, her friends are warning her about him, saying hes bad, but now that shes opened herself up and fallen in love shes just doesnt know how to stop. She doesnt want to hear the bad because hes her everything.

    Loves made her weak.

I love this song more now than I did before now that I understand fully all the lyrics. It's about a girl (Leona) who had been hurt by love so many times before until she met this guy that she finally fell in love with truely, but now that she finally found this guy everyone doesn't want her to be with him. You can feel the desperate emotions through this song...and that people keep trying to tell her that she shouldn't be with him and it starts to pull her down but she knows that she must stand up for (what she believes in ) who she loves. And she explains how great it feels to be with him("But nothing's greater than the rush that comes with your embrace")..but no one can see it and they think that she is just going crazy! The chorus exemplifies on the fact that whenever she is with him he just opens her up (aka the "cutting her open") and she can't stop expressing her love towards him (aka the "bleeding" love) I think bleeding is a good term to symbolize this because it is like a constant flow like it just keeps flowing from her heart. I am in love with this song. I analyzed it for an English project. <3

    My Interpretation

The song is about a girl who is emotionally hurt by her lover repeatedly. "Closed off from love I didn't need the pain Once or twice was enough And it was all in vain Time starts to pass Before you know it you're frozen" - Here, she indicates that she was hurt in all of her past relationships. All of her efforts resulted in vain. She was tired of facing pain again and hence, she decided to be immune to pain by avoiding love. However, as time passes by, she realizes that she has become numb or "frozen" inside since her heart is hollow without love. She does not feel complete.

"But something happened For the very first time with you My heart melts into the ground Found something true And everyone's looking round Thinking I'm going crazy" - Then, she meets a guy and falls head over heels. She was already sick of feeling so incomplete. That's when she meets him. He seemed like a perfect match for her and the desperation to feel love broke down all of her previously built defenses. She fell hopelessly in love with him. Everyone thinks he is wrong for her and warns her that he is going to hurt her eventually like all of her past boyfriends.

"But I don't care what they say I'm in love with you They try to pull me away But they don't know the truth My heart's crippled by the vein That I keep on closing You cut me open and I Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love I keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love You cut me open"- Here, she is overlooking all the warnings that people are giving her. Because she knows that no one knows how he makes her feel the way she does. And all this time, she had closed her heart to love to avoid torment. It worsened her condition and her heart became "crippled" because her world became bleak without love. This guy comes and cuts her heart open. He cuts the vein which is acting as a shield over her heart and makes it open towards love. When he opened it, she starts "bleeding love", that is, she starts loving him unconditionally. Now, she is free to love. But what he is actually doing is cutting her heart which is going to leave a scar. This implies that she is emotionally abused by him. That is why she is "bleeding" because she is in pain. But, even then, all she is doing is loving him wholeheartedly, hence, she is "bleeding love".

"Trying hard not to hear But they talk so loud Their piercing sounds fill my ears Try to fill me with doubt Yet I know that the goal Is to keep me from falling But nothing's greater Than the rush that comes with your embrace And in this world of loneliness I see your face Yet everyone around me Thinks that I'm going crazy, maybe, maybe"- Everyone is telling her to let go of him because they all see that he is causing her pain. Everyone tries to keep her from falling in love with him. She tries to overlook the warnings but, deep down, she knows that they are right. However, the intense and unconditional love she feels for him overshadows her judgment. She tolerates the misery and continues to be with him.

"And it's draining all of me Oh they find it hard to believe I'll be wearing these scars For everyone to see" - I think that she is implying how the relationships is killing her inside. He knowingly or inadvertently is hurting her. She feels all the scars he has given her. But loves him too blindly to let him go.

Its such a captivating song about the struggle between what her head and heart are saying.

It's about being in love with someone so much even though everyone around is trying to stop it from happening. Unconditional love.

Love this song and love the beat. Glad she never faded like the rest.

You and your lover had something special. It all began with that one night....who knew you'd both be there? Love was in the air. You could feel it. They did too. But everyone thought you were crazy for feeling the way you do. They aren't "right" for you, they say. But you don't care. Now, though, things are different. They don't love you like they used to. No matter how much love you bleed, it doesn't matter. He/she is with someone new. Are they just trying to make you jealous? There was nothing you want more then to be in their arms again. Everyone thinks your insane because you still love him/her. You know that with all your love, it's draining you. Your scarred. You don't know how to live again. And everyone around you can see that. Except for him/her. They'll never know the pain they put you through. They are cutting you open and there's nothing you can do.

This song is about a girl who keeps going back to the same guy even though he keeps hurting her every time. "You cut me open" is him hurting her. But she "keeps bleeding love," meaning that even when he hurts her, she continues to love him rather than leave him for good. And everyone who loves her knows that he's just going to hurt her again so thery're trying to stop her from falling for him again. "Yet I know that the goal is to keep me from falling." It's sad really. Reminds me of my best friend.

I have a different interpretation of this song.

Closed off from love I didn’t need the pain Once or twice was enough And it was all in vain Time starts to pass Before you know it you’re frozen

^^^She's fallen in love and it's ended...

But something happened For the very first time with you My heart melts into the ground Found something true And everyone’s looking round Thinking I’m going crazy

^^ She's re-telling the story, she fell in love and it was so deep that she felt her heart melt but people were telling her he is wrong for her..

But I don’t care what they say I’m in love with you They try to pull me away But they don’t know the truth My heart’s crippled by the vein That I keep on closing You cut me open and I

^^ She says that she doesnt care what they say becuase she's in love with him but she's keeps trying to close her vein ( which is her love for him)... and he cuts her open ( which mean he keeps coming back into her life)

Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love I keep bleeding I keep, keep bleeding love Keep bleeding Keep, keep bleeding love You cut me open

^^ and she bleeds love for him each and every time...

another interpretation for this song is that she's gone back to her ex and everyone thinks it's a bad idea but she's in love with him soo much, all she does is bleed love for him.

    My Interpretation

I read a few comments and thought I would put in my 2 cents. Yes this is all probably wrong but here goes

This song is as many said about love how ever its about the pain of love and how its hurts so much that you manefest it by cutings you self until that is what you love doing till you feel better...let me try to explain

There comes a time when you feel such pain and you reach a pinicale( this is the frozen part) and then something happens to you where the 1st time you actually do something like harm your self and every ones looking at you like your crazy (2nd stanza of the song) but you dont care about what others think because of the pain that your lost love has caused...so you keep cutting your self and keep bleeding but people keep trying to stop you (3rd part ) but you cant, even though you know what they are saying is right...but soon that razr or what ever you use to cut your self becomes so important that when that blood rushes our your wrist/arms etc you finally feel good cause now your emotion is a physical manifistation. This is where the "i'll be wearing the scars for every one to see" part is . And so the cycle continues till you deal with your loss by cutting your self to keep the emotional pain away, yet you blame your loved one you lost for your cutting ( you cut me open and I )...that just my take on it ...feel free to slam it but as a person who has been a cutter and done it for the very reason described above i take the song as a personal song of one that is sick of love and deals with it by loving their scars caused by the self mutulation.

    Song Meaning

This song to me is about trying so hard to close off the way you feel. Listening to what everyone thinks is the right thing to do and not following your own heart. Its about shutting your heart down and how badly hurts it can be a crippling feeling. Never close the heart to love it may be the only chance you get at real love. The heart knows what the heart wants.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
