I can't remember when it was good
Moments of happiness in bloom
Maybe I just misunderstood
All of the love we left behind
Watching our flash backs intertwine
Memories I will never find
In spite of whatever you become
Forget that reckless thing turned on
I think our lives have just begun
I think our lives have just begun
And I'll feel my world crumbling down
Feel my life crumbling now
Feel my soul crumbling away
Falling away
Falling away with you
Staying awake to chase a dream
Tasting the air you're breathing in
I hope I won't forgot a thing
I wish to hold you close and pray
Watching our fantasies decay
Nothing will ever stay the same
And all of the love we threw away
And all of the hopes we've cherished fade
Making the same mistakes again
Making the same mistakes again
And I'll feel my world crumbling down
Feel my life crumbling now
Feel my soul crumbling away
And falling away
Falling away with you
All of the love we left behind
Watching our flash backs intertwine
Memories I will never find
Memories I will never find
Moments of happiness in bloom
Maybe I just misunderstood
All of the love we left behind
Watching our flash backs intertwine
Memories I will never find
In spite of whatever you become
Forget that reckless thing turned on
I think our lives have just begun
I think our lives have just begun
And I'll feel my world crumbling down
Feel my life crumbling now
Feel my soul crumbling away
Falling away
Falling away with you
Staying awake to chase a dream
Tasting the air you're breathing in
I hope I won't forgot a thing
I wish to hold you close and pray
Watching our fantasies decay
Nothing will ever stay the same
And all of the love we threw away
And all of the hopes we've cherished fade
Making the same mistakes again
Making the same mistakes again
And I'll feel my world crumbling down
Feel my life crumbling now
Feel my soul crumbling away
And falling away
Falling away with you
All of the love we left behind
Watching our flash backs intertwine
Memories I will never find
Memories I will never find

This song can be viewed in a much more cosmic context when you think about it with regards to growing older, maturing, and realizing that things are changing around you. You lose some of the love you used to have, yet you keep some of it. Some of your relationships last; others don't. You are happy at times and at others sad.
This song is about remembering all of those moments, whether good or bad. And at the same time, it's about realizing that your life will continue regardless of your past, and you have the chance to entirely reinvent yourself if you so desire ("I think our lives have just begun.")
The "I" in this song refers to you, yourself. The "you" refers to anyone whom you might love at any point, including your parents, romantic partners, or simply your most intimate friends. The "we" that this song refers to, then, refers to you and your loved ones.
The song, then, becomes a song of perseverance--of using love to persevere despite all of the hardships you may experience. We should "fall away with" everyone whom we might love, because if we forget to love, our lives become meaningless.
"I can't remember when it was good, moments of happiness elude" - The man or woman (Lets just say it's a guy from now) is saying that he wants it back to when everything was happy, and there were no fights.
"I'll love whatever you become, forget the reckless things we've done, I think our life's have just begun" - he's saying, so what if things aren't the same any more, I want it to work, so forget the fights and lets start again.
And we come to the chorus "I'll feel my world crumbling..." - And so on, it's him crying out to her how much he needs her, saying how she's his world, and if she were to go, he'd be empty.
So, in my opinion, this songs tells the story differently to everyone, that's the beauty of music, everyone see's it in a different way, but to me, this is about a relationship crumbling and the guy is trying desperately to keep them together.
Amazing song, one of my favourites on "Absolution".
This person has allowed the other to become their whole life, and without them, everything they had before will also "crumble away". The line "staying awake to chase a dream" suggests to me that the only thing now keeping them going is the pursuit of an impossible dream, wanting everything to be the way it was and forgiving the other person for everything they've done, but it can never be enough.
I think the deeper meaning is the writer talking to himself. If you take this approach, the song has a completely different meaning than if you see it only as a relationshiplike song:
It has to do with the writer having changed, and having somehow lost the hopes and happiness of an early life; having done reckless things as he grew up, and not being able to find that childish happiness again, not sure that it even exists, that it ever existed. However, he decides to accept himself and giving himself a chance saying: "I'll love whatever you become...our lives have just begun". But it still feels he can't find any hope, or find those memories.
I think this makes sense considering the other songs and the name of the album.
