Maybe the blue eyes was referring to everyone being depressed. A lot of writers use visuals like that to describe feelings. You can't take every lyric so literally. |

A Morning Glory is also a flower that last for one evening(usually) and then dies. Why can't the drugs be the guys "blooming"? The drugs get them through the day and then they wake up a new flower in the morning. "Today's the day that all the world will see
Another sunny afternoon Walking to the sound of my favorite tune Tomorrow never knows what it doesn't know too soon" I take those lyrics as just going out into the world, not knowing what is going to happen. |

Very vague lyrics, so this song can have many meanings. That's one reason it's so wonderful. Seeing who wrote it I would say that there's a chance it was written about drugs, but I believe it is about the oncoming set of feelings they were feeling at the time from being on the verge of stardom. But who cares what I think. Let it mean whatever you want. |

The best songs can make a person put themselves into the writers shoes. After hearing they think "Hey, I could have written that song." It seems like everyone can see themselves waiting to die, hoping that there really is a better world. Even if they have never contemplated suicide. It just gives such a great visual of the whole ordeal. |

Is seems to me that they're not breaking up. They are a couple in a destructive relationship that, for some reason, are staying together. "Falling away WITH you". "So i'll love whatever you become, and forget the reckless things we've done". I haven't found anyone else who has viewed it this way and that surprises me. Of course I haven't read every comment. This is an amazing song. Though, I hesitate to call it beautiful because it is horribly sad. I mean, two people in a bad relationship, staying together and being miserable... |
