Death in Vegas – Aisha Lyrics 1 year ago
The line about dead bodies is supposed to be

'The Iron People eat dead bodies'

The iron people are a reference to crematory furnaces, where the smoke vents can look like eyes and the door looks like a mouth, and where the bodies are shoveled in to be cremated - the iron people eating the dead bodies.

I have no idea what the movie's name was, but in a film history class I took in high school there was a silent film about a dystopian future where the upper classes lived in comfort, and the lower classes slaved away in horrible conditions in the industrial layer in the middle and actually lived in caverns beneath the industrial layer. There's a scene early in the movie where a worker is killed somehow and thrown into a furnace deliberately designed to look vaguely like a face, and that might've been what Death in Vegas were thinking of when they wrote that line.

Rob Zombie – Two-Lane Blacktop Lyrics 2 years ago
The lyrics are almost completely wrong, but LyricFind won't change them so Songmeanings can't.

First, some notes.

Meta throughout the song, Rob Zombie ads 'a's' in a few places that aren't actually part of the lyrics, which can confuse people who don't get the references.

This song and almost everything in it are a reference to the movie Two-Lane Blacktop (1971, directed by Monte Hellman).

The second line should say "GTO lunatic" instead of 'gypsy girl' - GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato, and Pontiac had a model called the GTO. Like ApollyonCrash's comment said, the protagonists met a crazy old man driving a Pontiac GTO.

Third and fourth line of the first verse should just be a single line, and it goes 'Mechanic don't walk, the driver don't talk' - the movie protagonists were just The Mechanic and The Driver. The Mechanic had crippled legs and the driver was mute.

Third line of the second verse should be 'I bought her in Bakersfield, California' - that's a movie reference, it's where the protagonists bought their car.

Fourth line of the second verse should be 'A glass of beer, a shot of rye' - another movie reference, it's what they ordered at a bar.

Anyway here's the actual lyrics.

Where ya goin'? I've never been east
I met a GTO lunatic on the track
Mechanic don't walk, the driver don't talk
20 bucks between them just to keep them alive

Drivin'
Drivin'
Drivin'
Blacktop rollin'

Where ya goin'? Goin' to Amarillo
A zero to a sixty in a 7.5
I bought her in Bakersfield, California
A glass of beer, a shot of rye

Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')

Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')

Come on baby, I ain't crazy
Come on baby, pick me up, pick me up!
Come on baby, do me baby
Come on baby, hook it up, hook it up!

Come on!

Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')
Come on! (Drivin')
Blacktop rollin'

Where ya goin'? Airport road
A clean machine, real home grown
Baracuda '68
Nothing there, she can wait

Come on! (Drivin')

Legendary Shack Shakers – Sin Eater Lyrics 3 years ago
There's a big chunk of lyrics in this song I couldn't understand - there's a whole chorus between "I said HEY" and "feed that ego..." that I could barely understand a word of. Weirdly, the song is provided on the Legendary Shack Shakers website - just not that part.

But, since the lyrics for the song aren't anywhere else on the internet I posted them. Maybe people with better ears than mine can fill in where I couldn't.

Monster Magnet – God Says No Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it is at least partly about record companies. The God Says No album was largely a commercial failure, mainly due to disputes with producer A&M Records and the consequent little promotion the album got.

Like a lot of Monster Magnet's songs, it comes across sort of like two (or more) different meanings in the same song, with not all the lyrics in it relevant to all the meanings.

Murder City Devils – Bunkhouse Lyrics 14 years ago
Yep, this song is pretty much about tough guys and their soft sides. They can't cry, so they sing to let it out. They're crying both because they were left behind as kids, and because they're probably leaving people behind now. MCD did a lot of songs about being left behind.

And now, two random comments.

Try listening to "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" right after listening to this song.

My favorite drink is rye whiskey, and this song is totally responsible.

Orange Goblin's doom influence was actually best heard in their The Big Black album, especially during the titular track and part of Hot Magic, Red Planet.

Mastodon – Megalodon Lyrics 14 years ago
Something no one else here so far has picked up on.

In fantasy settings (Dungeons and Dragons and the such), sirens, those being aquatic humanoid monsters, frequently have monstrous thralls that they use to either protect themselves or spread evil depending on the setting and the individual siren.

Imagine a pissed off siren whos thrall was a Megalodon.

Alice Cooper – Sex, Death, And Money Lyrics 15 years ago
I think it was more directed at the "moral guardian" types. You know, the Jim Bakkers, the ones who preach morality to everyone else and constantly shriek about how vulgar everyday life is while secretly being womanizing scumsuckers.

Murder City Devils – In This Town Lyrics 15 years ago
OK, this one... I think it's sung from the point of view of someone who left the small town his family lived in because he didn't like them anymore. "Falling down at all the weddings and holidays" seems to me to be that annoying relative that a lot of families have, the one who's always getting drunk and falling down.

He goes back to town every once in a while because it is his family, but he can't stand it because everyone in the town brings back all the bad memories.

I think the lines about building a ship in a bottle is about maybe things were better when the singer was young, and building a ship is a metaphor for the kinds of things a kid might do with his parents, and then how it rolled away is how they drifted apart.

Murder City Devils – I Drank The Wine Lyrics 15 years ago
I always thought this one was a little bit darker in tone than just being beyond forgiveness for being a jerk.

I think it's about a guy who not necessarily rapes but pressures a girl into sex against her will. "We made a deal in the car you stay angry I'll feel nothing at all" - they got too far into it, now she resents him and he tries to ignore it. "I'll never trust myself again" because he knows he screwed up, and "I don't expect you to wear a flower in your hair" because the romance is gone.

The wine and the rose together maybe representing the girl, and saying "I drank the wine and I threw away the rose" might mean he used her body (the wine) and threw away her love (the rose). And now he's leaving and doesn't expect that she'll be sorry to see him go.

Dog Fashion Disco – Pogo The Clown Lyrics 18 years ago
Lyrics from the Comitted To a Bright Future version of the song...

Pogo, happy clown molester
Paints his face, disguise the jester
Joins the local Moose Lodge chapter
Spawning evil ever after
He picks his prey up at the bar
Gets him drunk and in the car
Drives him home and down the stairs
Strips him to his underwears
PO-GO! You're gonna burn in hell!

Murder victim, slice and smile
Serial killer, pedophile
Look into those empty eyes
You'll know it's your time to die
As he cuts you up in little bits
Cuts you up in little bits
Goes bop bop on your head again
Spills your blood, and now he's soaked in sin
PO-GO! You're gonna burn in hell!

Drives all night through the city streets
To hack up a victim like a piece of meat
Spoke to the Devil the other day and John is doing fine

Woah, the end is true
When the sun goes down on the city streets,
Pogo's coming after you!

Murder City Devils – Bride Of The Elephant Man Lyrics 18 years ago
John Merrick was "The Elephant Man". He was infected with a rare genetic disease that caused lumpy tumors made of bone to sprout all over his body.

Margaret Fox was one of three sisters who claimed to be able to communicate with the spirits. One of the things they could get the spirits to do was knock on the walls. After the oldest of the sisters stole most of the money, Margaret and the other sister revealed that the whole thing was an act. Margaret made the knocking sounds by popping her toe joints.

The only message I get from the song, though, is the Devils saying that even though these people were 'freaks', at least they have a story worth telling... and that's why we actually despise them. But, the Devils know, and that's why they're asking The Elephant Man for forgiveness.

Murder City Devils – Broken Glass Lyrics 19 years ago
It's about a time when Iggy went crazy while performing, got some kind of adrenaline high, and started rolling around in broken glass. Cut himself up really badly, they had to drag him off stage and to the hospital because he wouldn't stop.

Murder City Devils – Lemuria Rising Lyrics 19 years ago
Whoever submitted the lyrics here, did a terrible job rendering them... anyway.

"Lemuria" is a fabled lost island, along the same lines of Atlantis. According to legend, it was situated in the Indian ocean. Lemuria sunk into the sea, and the remnant of it is Madagascar. Lemuria was named because of supposition that it was the original home of the Lemurs (primitive primates that live only on Madagascar)

Virginia Wolfe was a woman who was famed for having a very sharp tongue (read - good at insulting others). Kenneth Anger was an experimental filmmaker, and Eddie Spaghetti is the outspoken bassist of a band called the Supersuckers, whom I've never had a chance to listen to.

This song is subtler than a lot of the Murder City Devils lyrics. Fields of Fire, for example, is my favorite song of theirs, but it's easy to understand what they're talking about. This one, on the other hand...

Seems to me that Spencer's singing about how he plays his music the way he wants to. Lines like "I'd rather be a dandy than another boring girl with an acoustic guitar" and "in the spirit of Eddie Spaghetti, we do what we do" seem to say that he's not really all that concerned with what other people think. The opening lines are his decision to play this way in the first place.

I haven't yet figured out what the lines about Lois mean, or why Lemuria is relevant to the lyrics... join in, people. This is one of MCD's most underrated songs, and deserves the attention.

Dog Fashion Disco – Scores For Porn Lyrics 19 years ago
Scores for Porn was originally released on the album "Experiments in Alchemy". Later, they re-did the song for "Committed to a Bright Future", with the lyrics reorganized. For my money, the re-make is FAR better than the original.

Radio’s a public toilet
A funeral for a friend
Wash your mouth out then puke
And wash it out again
Scores for porn in short
Is audio intercourse
A stereophonic orgasmic
Lust for passion

Slide it in
Grease that pig
And fuck to a different tune

Radio is a pool of urine
A gallon down your throat
Anesthetized in sadness
I’ve got the antidote
The answer is so surreal
Press play and just sit back
High infidelity
Or aphrodisiac

Pillow talk
Pillow talk
Mattress rock
Seduction in the key of love
Pillow talk
Pillow talk
Mattress rock
Seduction in the key of love

Slide it in
Grease that pig
Slide it in
Grease that pig

Oh won't you send me
Baby send me
Your dirty sheets
Oh won't you send me
Baby send me
Your dirty sheets

It feels eternal
Feels like a lifetime
Since I have been
Inside you
It feels eternal
Feels like a lifetime
Since I have been
Inside you

There's only one way to get what you want and that's to get it
There's only one way to get what you want and that's to get it
There's only one way to get what you want and that's to get it
The recollection
There's only one way to get what you want and that's to get it

Woooooah-Aaaaaahhhh
Slide it in
Grease that pig
Slide it in
Grease that pig
