This is a really beautiful song. however, it is rather depressing. to me, the quiet that john is seeking is from all the thoughts of lonliness, worries, troubles, everything that we as humans deal with during our lives. during the day, we're busy and we have no time to think about our problems. but it's in our homes, where we should feel the most comfortable behind locked doors, our problems come out and haunt us sort of. john talks about all his fears cornering him and his tv screen despite the vastness of space in his room. he's referring to all the problems that he has and how they cannot simply be ignored by switching on the tv as one would do to scare away the darkness. eventually daylight comes and he can supress his fears again during the hustle and bustle of the day. |

stud, i think that the people who are knocking at his door are the people who "drop like flies from the bright sunny skies." the guy who got off the acid trip became some sort of healer/answer giver. people knocked on his door for answers and searching for a way for their pains to be eased. he performs his "one good trick" and makes them feel better. and because of this, he becomes really famous and gets a lot of money..."til someone died on the waterslide."...kinda weird :p |

i think that this song can apply to anyone in any situation. everyone goes through those periods when they are not acting quite like themselves. "and right in time, come around. i always do for you." those lyrics are true and any good relationship. if anyone truly cares for you, they will wait for you to come back around. |

This is one of those hard songs to track down. On some website, it was said that this song came along from a bet between John and one of his friends to rhyme the word "orange". Thus, "George Malakornge" was created. This song is simple, yet it has a jazzy groove that makes it stick in your head. ;) |
