Oasis – Wonderwall Lyrics 10 years ago
Noel Gallagher, the song's writer, was a huge fan of the Beatles. The Long And Winding Road is referenced in the lyrics. George Harrison made an album called Wonderwall Music, with the cover showing a wall with a missing brick separating a mundane, field from a transcendent reality.

The lyrics were originally attributed to Noel's girlfriend, but he later revealed it to be about an imaginary friend. Wonderwall could mean an object of infatuation.

Mika – Grace Kelly Lyrics 11 years ago
The song's about Mika's musical career - he kept getting rejected by the record labels. Grace Kelly was an actress and, I suppose, known for her 'sad' facial expressions. Freddie is a reference to Freddie Mercury - Mika's style is often compared to Queen's.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 11 years ago
The commonly accepted interpretation for this song is that the singer/narrator has committed a murder, was trialed and sentenced to execution. This makes sense and is supported by the ballad at the beginning of the song.

I thought that, perhaps the man he has killed is, in fact himself. He has made a bad decision, but then regrets that choice immediately and wondered if what had happened was real. This choice completely ruined his life. Throughout the whole song he repeated 'Nothing matters" and "Any way the wind blows". The second phrase isn't literal, of course (At least in my interpretation). But maybe he is trying to convince himself...

Gotye – Somebody That I Used To Know Lyrics 11 years ago
I interpreted the song about Gotye believing that Kimbra was the 'perfect person'. Then when he finds out that Kimbra wasn't perfect they conflict. When Kimbra sings the line: " You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know...", she is not referring to another relationship. The 'somebody that you/I used to know' is the 'perfect' person that Gotye thought his partner was.

Owl City – Vanilla Twilight Lyrics 12 years ago
One of my favorite songs of all-time.
The song was probably about a girlfriend of Adam's who passed away.
I think the term 'Vanilla Twilight' might refer to the feeling you get when you lose something close to you - He uses the concept of Vanilla Twilight' throughout the song.

Twilight is the time the sun is below the horizon, but you can still see it's light on the sky, so the lines
"Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere" and "I'll taste the sky and feel alive again" might also refer to "Vanilla Twilight". In that case maybe it is the feeling of moving on?
