I can see why you would say that but it's really, really not.

Lorde – Tennis Court Lyrics 10 years ago
I think the tennis court aspect of this song is less literal in terms of those country clubs etc. Lorde is only 16 - I think it's more likely she's singing about being young and famous, and having all these pretty things and being surrounded by people all the time, yet with stardom comes a certain fear and the constant threat of ''falling apart''. so what people do is put on a brave face.

Sufjan Stevens – I Want to Be Well Lyrics 12 years ago
Christians are just as able to curse as non-religious folk, just like they're able to have sex before marriage, be gay, etc. I, as an athiest, don't know why people are so surprised when a Christian swears! And swearing sounds very good on Sufjan ;)

fun. – All Alone Lyrics 12 years ago
When I listen to this song I think about how sometimes people are described as vapid or empty, like a pretty, lifeless doll. This kinda comes through in the lines "and she sits on my shelf, it makes me think of you [...] she's a lot like you," like he's comparing a past lover to an inanimate object, and maybe when he says "I feel so all alone," he isn't just thinking about himself now, with the doll, but the time he was with his lover too.

fun. – Stars Lyrics 12 years ago
the lines:

"there are people on the street
they're coming up to me
they're telling me that they like what I do now"

is a reference to his fame nowadays. He seems to reference to it quite a lot, like in At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used To Be), he says:

"And they said,
"Hey Nate, yeah, it’s been a while,
Are you gonna sing?"
And I began to smile and I said,
"You should’ve seen me a couple of years ago,
I was laughing and drinking and smoking and singing.""

And in Some Nights, he sings:

"Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle
Some nights I wish they'd just fall off"

Which references to how sometimes he wishes he could do amazing things with his fame and sometimes he wants to forget it all and go back to being 'normal'.

The lyrics in their songs are so raw, and that's one reason why I really appreciate them.

Sufjan Stevens – John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Lyrics 12 years ago
I think that the last verse, which people seem to think means that Sufjan is a murderer, could relate to the lines "The neighbors they adored him. For his humor and his conversation." As a youngster Gacy was charming and people don't understand how such a nice boy could kill 33 people. Then the line at the end "and in my best behaviour I am really just like him," what's important are the words "best behaviour" - Sufjan isn't saying he's a bad person, he's saying that he, like all other men (and women) have the capacity to kill. He already has his secrets. Who's to say he doesn't have the ability to hide his own bodies?
