Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I don't agree. Totally about child abuse. =( |

This says nothing about a homicidal teenager to me. Think of it, I mean, he's talking about his father. Child abuse anyone? |
Mumford & Sons – The Cave Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song holds so much meaning in my life right now. Think of it from this perspective like a man talking to himself and his fears and insecurities: It's empty in the valley of your heart The sun, it rises slowly as you walk Away from all the fears And all the faults you've left behind *He didn't deal with his fears and faults, he ignored them and they act as an anchor. The harvest left no food for you to eat You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat *See, even here it's like he sees the faults and feels the shame of others but fails to see them in himself. But I will hold on hope And I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck *This is his heart talking to himself. And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again *His heart has courage and is keeping faith! Cause I have other things to fill my time You take what is yours and I'll take mine Now let me at the truth Which will refresh my broken mind *The body wants to continue doing what it has always done, what's comfortable by habit but his heart wants nothing of it, wants to change life for himself. So tie me to a post and block my ears I can see widows and orphans through my tears I know my call despite my faults And despite my growing fears *He's saying he will persevere, even though what is around him doesn't change or can't change or won't change, he will despite his growing fears. But I will hold on hope And I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again So come out of your cave walking on your hands And see the world hanging upside down You can understand dependence When you know the maker's land *He needs to come out of his cave and change his view and he realizes he can't do it all on his own, hence understanding dependence. So make your siren's call And sing all you want I will not hear what you have to say *The siren's call, the panic! His doubts can sing all they want but he won't listen anymore. He knows a different tune now that he has made a choice to. Cause I need freedom now And I need to know how To live my life as it's meant to be *He's open and learning. And I will hold on hope And I won't let you choke On the noose around your neck And I'll find strength in pain And I will change my ways I'll know my name as it's called again It took my own choice to confront my own demons to see this song in the way I do. =) |
