very deep analysis for an even deeper song. |
Christina Aguilera – Monday Morning Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think this song is about a relationship and how it is never going to turn sour. Monday Mornings are normally negative, since it is the first day of the week and soooo far away from friday. So I think by saying they are never going to be a monday morning, she is saying that their relationship is always going to be positive and enjoyable. I love this song, one of the favorites on the whole album. I can definitely hear Santogold's influence in the song. |

Avenged Sevenfold – M.I.A. Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I kinda thought it was about the Vietnam War. Like when he says "nobody knows all the reason we're here" many people thought that the Vietnam War wasn't just about containing communism and more about keeping friendly relations with the Vietnamese. There are other clues in the song as well. Although I do suppose it could be about any war, even a hypothetical one. |
The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
My interpretation is similar to yours, except I think this song is telling a story about an ex. It sounds like him and his girlfriend broke up, and they lived together, and this is his first time seeing her at her new apartment (you seem so out of context, in this gaudy apartment complex; a stranger with a door key). That could be why he says hes just visiting (which is different from before when neither of them was visiting one another if they lived together) and also how is is not permanent, which he once could have believed it was. Maybe for sometime he believed that it was the girls fault that they broke up, but now he can actually see that he was the one with leaving. Either way, its such a great song. |
Lady GaGa – So Happy I Could Die Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'd never really thought about it that way but now that I think about it, it seems very possible. I think Gaga wanted it to seem like it was only about alcohol, but really it's about something different. For example: "I love that lavender blond The way she moves, the way she walks I touch myself, can't get enough" This part is obviously about a girl with blond hair that she has a crush on "And in the silence of the night Through all the tears and all the lies, I touch myself and it's all right" She's crying because she has this internal secret of having a crush on a girl. She's saying it's a "lie" because maybe she doesn't even want to believe that it's true because she'd never thought she would be attracted to another girl "Just give in Don't give up baby Open up your heart and your mind to me" Tell the girl to open up herself so they can get to know each other. Or she could even be telling that to herself, like wanting to get to know herself better to see if she really likes this girl. "Just know when That glass is empty, that the world is gonna bend" This would be her time hanging out with her friend. Like whenever friends hang out with each other, but only "for a drink or two". She doesn't want the glass to empty because then she won't be with her friend anymore "Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time Eh eh, so happy I could die" She's just with her friend, having a good time spending time with her. "Be your best friend yeah I love you forever, Up in the clouds we're both higher than ever Eh eh, so happy I could die And it's all right?" Same idea, they're just really good friend and are having a good time together, especially Gaga since she has her crush. "I am as vain as I allow I do my hair, I gloss my eyes I touch myself all through the night" This line could be that she finds herself attractive, but only enough so it's the sexy confidence that attracts others. By saying she is "as vain as she allows" she's acknowledging that she doesn't automatically assume that everyone she meets will fall in love with her, like her crush. "And when something falls out of place I take my time, I put it back I touch myself 'till I'm on track" I'm not really sure how this line fits in, but it could just mean that she likes everything to be perfect and might even go as far as to "plan" things ahead of time. Her yearning for another girl would not be something she had ever planned for herself. Then the song just repeats itself and stuff. So yeah, this is just an idea. But it could also relate to the whole "fear" theme because she is fearing liking another women, fearing this secret and others finding out, and fearing how the girl might feels towards her. It could even be a fear of love or commitment. |

Lady GaGa – I Like It Rough Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think that this song is talking about an abusive relationship like when she says "Is it 'cause you don't mean it or because I don't feel it" she's talking about the abuse And the tissues is because she's crying And she's asking herself why she likes the rough relationship so much |
