Arcade Fire – Black Wave/Bad Vibrations Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I can't figure out this song and the solution is in the interpretation of "Black Wave". This part's interesting though: "Stop now before it's too late Been eating in the ghetto on a hundred dollar plate Nothing lasts forever, that's the way it's going to be There's a great black wave in the middle of the sea (for me)" Eating on the ghetto on a hundred dollar plate...... Imagine how selfish you would have to be to do that. It's a reference to the disparity in wealth in the world. We're living in a world where one person can eat caviar every day, yet another can only afford a bean. People like Bill Gates could give away 75% of their money and provide enough for a nation, yet they won't. Stop now before it's too late. That's what leads me to think "black wave" is a disparity in wealth. Though it still doesn't all add up. |
Arcade Fire – Windowsill Lyrics | 13 years ago |
The song is about America. Look at America right now. Media is rampant. Advertising riegns the streets. Nobody can go a day without seeing them. People want things faster, cheaper- fast food, better technology, etc. What gives it away are these lines: "I don't want to live with my father's debt You can't forgive what you can't forget I don't want to live in my father's house no more" Clearly referring to the national debt which is increasing as I post. His 'father' refers to forefathers. The best part of the song is this part: "World war three, when are you coming for me? Been kicking up sparks to set the flames free The windows are locked now, so what'll it be? A house on fire or the rising sea?" Either WWII happens and the house is on fire, or violence runs through the world, increasing with each day like a tide of water. America's kicking the sparks in the Mid East and only a matter of time before the flames are free. |
Weezer – Let's Sew Our Pants Together Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"We've made a liar of desire" Could that line possibly be the more meaningful than anything off even Pinkerton? |
Weezer – Death and Destruction Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is Maladroit all the way, great heavy Metallic rock to hide Rivers' soft insecure side |
Weezer – Seafaring Jamb Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is just so polished, its a great song to listen to....it should've been on Maladroit...and does anyone know what's up with the word, "jamb"? |
Weezer – Freak Me Out Lyrics | 15 years ago |
That actually makes sense with the rest of the album (I need some PEACE) and I can't see Rivers writing about politics. It definitely doesn't make sense to write about a Spider. And by plainly looking at the lyrics, it just doesn't make sense why this song would be on the Album, but your interpretation makes it make sense to be on MB. |
Weezer – In The Garage Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song underscores his insecurity, and the garage is his sanctuary for that |
Weezer – Queen of Earth Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Never once, thought i felt quite this way Feel my heartbeat is just slipping away Want to live in my hole in the ground I'm over and done, baby" I don't get this part...he's found this Queen, but now he's over and done? Is this some dream? Or is this a real girl? |
Weezer – Space Rock (First Version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Where can I hear this version? I loved the falsetto Maladroit, but anything else on this would be nice |
Weezer – Hold Me (Make Believe Version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
For some reason, I get a huge Nirvana feel from this song....great song though |
Weezer – The Victor Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think I've got an extended version, there's more lyrics in mine....great intro though, one of the best ever |
Weezer – Acapulco Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Great music, especially on the drums |
Weezer – Haunt You Every Day Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love how you've put that, here's why I think you're right: "fire's gonna burn think of consequence then you'll move when it's your turn" |
Weezer – Sandwiches Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |
That makes a lot of sense |
Weezer – Mansion Of Cardboard Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Hmm...I think in these album 5 demos he uses someone else to describe himself. People don't like the bum, and I think that's what Rivers thinks what others think about him. I cant think of any more, but there's a lot more meaning to this than just a song about a bum |
Weezer – Thief, You've Taken All That Was Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Favorite Kitchen Tape! Anyways, this is definitely about a break up.The girl is the Thief, "Thief, of silent dreams Of golden scenes" And after the incident, she's all that he thinks about and he gets weaker, physically and emotionally, thus: "Thief, you've taken all that was me" Thats my take |
