Rise Against – Elective Amnesia Lyrics 15 years ago
Just wrote the lyrics after what I understood, there are a few pieces where I'm sure its pretty wrong.
So please help me out, I'm from germany and so listening to english speaking people still gives me a bit of trouble sometimes.

~~~~
Anyway, IMO this song as well as the other bonus track a far better than most of the stuff on the album, and I just love this song, its a bit like a darker version of injection.
I'm not sure what its about, cause its hard to tell when the lyrics aren't absolutly correct.
But anyway the beginning seems to be about people just living a live they can't take, they can't stand, they can't enjoy and that drains them down. (Do you spend your days counting the hours your awake ? ;) )
But they can't break out of this live, they can't let go of something, that keeps them controlled but unfree (pull this plug, and let me breathe, on my own I'm finally free(The plug keeps you alive and safe, but unfree, pulling the plug means living risky and probably means that the person will die soon, but they can live their live free at last)(its pretty much the same in this song, "with everything comes a price" = freedom has its price, like in injection))
But then, the lyrics are just to off IMO to go any further, exspecially the part with the debt.
It could be about economy or sth like that, but that just doesn't fit with the beginning which definitly (and I thing most RA songs can be interpreted in various ways, but there its pretty clear imo) is personal and about beeing unsatisfied in the life you live.
Anyway I like this switching between the slow verses which are dark and desperate and the exploding chorus which is (with desperate courage) a cry out for breaking free and too risk it all. (Just like injection, being down and rotting slowly in a life you don't want to live / breaking free and live the way you want, even if it may kill you)
But please help me out with the lyrics^^
Rise Against – Whereabouts Unknown Lyrics 15 years ago
Just an Idea that struck my mind, this couldn't possibly be about chris leaving the band ?
Would seem untypical for RA to do such a song, but it would fit the song, and just give it a whole new dimension-
Rise Against – Whereabouts Unknown Lyrics 15 years ago
I just love this song, IMO the best of the ones that leaked until now. (Although thats probably just me xD)
The Lyrics are pretty obvios, der narrator and his group ( gang / band / friends) are searching for one of them, who got lossed.
He probably left because he is searching for an answer / direction in life, doesn't know where to go, etc.
The crown of thorns seems to be a sign that he's searching his way in faith and religion, although I prefer interpreting lyrics in a more metaphorical way, sure it could stand for religion, but for me its just a metaphor that says he is searching for something he can believe in, a way to go in live.
The Rest of the Song is about how they search and miss him, remeber the times, and just plea for him to come back.
They don't know where he went and just want to tell him that they want him to come back.
They're searching for him, but feel they aren't the same as before, the hole he left left them all as strangers, they're broken and stand apart.
The Chorus probably is about how they fixed their old flaws, that made him go.
"Our Silence is broken" could mean they spoke out about something they kept quiet about befor.
"All is forgiven" means they are one group again, everything that happened is fixed, they just want to reunite.
The only thing that still is missing is him coming back, and they don't know where he went and just wish / pray / plea for him to come back home, and don't know what else they can do except searching and hoping.
PS: Just wrote this like I had it on my mind, probably a bid confused, but I hope you can understand the main idea.
Rise Against – Behind Closed Doors Lyrics 16 years ago
Chairs thrown and tables toppled,
Hands armed with broken bottles,
Standing no chance to win but,
We're not runnin', we're not runnin'.
There's a point I think we're missin',
It's in the air we raise our fists in,
In the smiles we cast each other,
My sister, my brother.
About the time we gave up hopeing
We'd ever find these locks still open,
Stumbling on stones unturned,
the hurt we feel, we all have earned
The lines we cross in search of change, but all they see is treason
And though we have no obligation, to stay alive
On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive
(Break out) I won't be left here
Behind closed doors.
Bonfires burn like beacons,
Guiding the lost and weakened.
Flames dance on crashing waves,
Guiding ships who've gone astray
Time out, let's stop and think this through,
We've all got better things to do,
than talk in circles run in place,
the answers are inches from my face.
and though we have no obligation, to stay alive
On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive
(Break out) I won't be left here
Behind closed doors.
Black eyes, broken fingers,
Blood drips and I let it run down my lips into my swollen gums
When hope is nonexistent,
Our instincts all scream, "Run",
We never turn our backs or even bite our tongue.
Although we have no obligation, to stay alive
On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive
(Break out) I won't be left here
Behind closed doors.
These are the correct lyrics according to the booklet
And yes, it really says "and though" twice and "although" in the end.
Im really unsure about the lyrics, IMO it seems more to be about people fighting a senseless revolution, although they lost hope long ago, but they don't know what do to instead, and so they just go on with it.
Fighting "behind closed doors" probably means to fight although your goals are unreachable.
But there is one person left who sees that it can't go on this way "there's a point i think we're missing" and who wants to break out because he doesn't want to end up fighting a senseless fight "i won't be left here, behind closed doors"
"the hurt we feel, we all have earned" means that they have to realise the hurt they feel (maybe refering to the fighting part at the beginning) is there own fault that they earned through there actions, and if they wan't to get rid of it they have to change them.
He then crosses the line in search of a better way, but is considered to be a treator, because the others are so narrow minded and focused on "there" way that they can't accept that there might be another one. "the lines we crossed in search of chance but all they see is treason"
"Time out, let's stop and think this through, We've all got better things to do, than talk in circles run in place, the answers are inches from my face."
Is a conclusion: Stop fighting a senseless revolution and stop fighting each other and think about how you can actually do something that will really help, it's right in front of you, because there a so many ways you can do something that will actually help.
Rise Against – Heaven Knows Lyrics 16 years ago
@Heavenknows
I always thought of the first part in the exact opposit way. "the day i learn to fly" beeing the day he finally commits suicide and gets away from this world, looking back at all those people remaining and "keeping there fires lit", staying alive.
Then he talks about how he tried to make friends and get along but was rejected and now he can't take it any more and "prays for wings to take him from this place" meaning something like praying for redemption cause he just can't stand his life anymore and wants to die.
The "from you" refers to his only friend, and that he knows he'll let down the only one that cared about him.
Then his friend is talking, saying that they are the same and he knows how he feels, but cutting and thinking of suicide can never be an answer.
Then the first person is talking again, repeating what he said before.
The second person then slowly realises he can't save his friend (or he is already dead).He is terribly sad and thinks about his friend (thought i heart you're voice) but he realises his friend made his decisition and is gone, and now he himself has to go on with his life and stand his ground although he is probably all alone
Fucking awesome song "you're still searching for the answers, they're not inside your wrist" is probably the most amazing line ever, the whole song is terribly sad but helps you to go on, no matter what happened
Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) Lyrics 16 years ago
Billie fucks up the Intro twice, both times strumming the G instead of the B String, they probably found it funny not to cut it out^^
