Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It means it's the RAMONES!! If you listen it's' A-O let's go' Hey Ho sounds like Shakespeare, not punk. The Ramones weren't quite the first punk band (in the denims and leather jacket and filthy long hair style) there was the MC5 for a start. Oddly the Ramones were also influenced by Scotland's Bay City Rollers and stuff like their first single 'Keep On Dancing' |
Madonna – Like a Virgin Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this thread sums up everything that the yanks do to Europe. i tell you soon you wil have to put your big dick away and come to Europe for our technology and brains to save you from being one great big dustbowl. and we won't keep your stinking missiles either- watch the russkys ownz you. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – The Dust Blows Forward And The Dust Blows Back Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Great poem/lyric. Those last three lines stick to me like the red bean. It's about getting away from the urban life. 'Gone fishin' for a week'. That's all. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – Pena Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The singer (can't remember) made it unlistenable, that's for sure. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – Orange Claw Hammer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it wasn't unusual for the barber to be a tooth puller. Guy coming home like this would be glad of a good tooth puller, i guess. i'm not sure if the 'gimme one' isn't really just a kiss from someone who might be his daughter. i love the jack rabbit, the 'sagebrush' jack rabbit. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – Moonlight On Vermont Lyrics | 17 years ago |
gimme that old time religion gimme that old time religion if it's good enough for Jesus it's good enough for me. Can't think where that song comes from, apart from the obvious revivalist tents. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – 25th Century Quaker Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh yeah, anyone reads this page has to hear that! Shutter Shutter, shutter, shuter, like a camera going off... How would a girl off the Mayflower react to a 25thC quaker? The subject doesn't really take off though does it? It just becomes a tonal poem. |
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band – Safe As Milk Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Which company? The Mirror Man ' ('Plain Brown Wrapper') sessions were completely rejected remember? Then a single album came out without Beefheart's ok. The song seems to be about urban living in the rough and ready world of the Captain. That fridge sure sounds familiar... There are adverts about Acid Reflux. :) |
Pixies – Evil Hearted You (Corazon De Diablo) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love the double translation. but hey, would i try to 'lower' you? :) It's not the same somehow... gods, i had an original Yardbirds recording of this! |
Pixies – Gigantic Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What does this song mean to you? a big, big, love... what else? it's just beautiful Someone watching their sister/friend and her black, prohibited lover. Loving to watch the lover. Whose is the love? It doesn't matter... it's just Gigantic... A Big Big Love (this has become one of my favourite Pixies songs in a very short time, the Indio California DVD version is beautiful) |
Pixies – Dig For Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
(plaintive voice) nooo, my child, this is not my desire... then she said- I'm digging FOR FIRE!!! it's passion, inspiration, life, all the way people. |
Pixies – U-Mass Lyrics | 17 years ago |
As for 'smells', well it's that equal 4 chord thing again. Still reminds me of the Who though- a good while earlier. There' s an old Fall song called 'the middle mass', There, try and work that one in. ED_U_CA_TIO_N_N_N_N_N_NAL! GLORIA!!!!!!!!!! |
Pixies – Bam Thwok Lyrics | 17 years ago |
er...like the title of a King Crimson song, that is... |
Pixies – Bam Thwok Lyrics | 17 years ago |
and 'BAM THWOK!' sounds like a KIng Crimson song- heh. |
Pixies – Subbacultcha Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so good, it's actually survived the bands whole career and then been recorded on what Wiki calls 'their final album' (never say never) i think the lyrics say it about goth sub-culture. Like the way the who did for the mods. 'Down here' sounds more like the basement clubs and similar 'dives'. Down here in this sub-basement culture...where no-one can tell whether you are wearing a black dress or just dressed up in black. :) |
Pixies – Cecilia Ann Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I really enjoyed the lyrics on this one *sings a few*. Say what are you looking at? :) |
Pixies – Monkey Gone to Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
5,6,7 it's just a ladder of acension. But seriously that's just bull. This monkey will sort out his own shit- Man is a monkey?- monkey's just throw theirs. Great song though- they played this on BBC2 and i got turned on to the pixies. Oh, i 'got mine 'too' when that hole went round the Northern Hemisphere, i got some changes on my hands. Has held out ok so far. It's not 666, that's certain. Anyway, numerology is wobbly as a dolphin on a bike. |
Pixies – Lady in the Radiator Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this movie, and this song. i didn't hear the whole pixies output til i got emusic and was suprised they did it. Not for any reason mind. BTW it does make a lot of sense, a couple have premarital sex and she gives birth to an alien premature baby ('oh you are sick') there is a tape machine at the start- they have 'eraser heads' too. Eraserhead reminds me of Current93/Nurse with wound. |
Pixies – Down To The Well Lyrics | 17 years ago |
People really think that the pixies ripped off these latter bands? What sense of r&r history do they have? i once saw a nirvana freak saying how they invented that 4 chord thing on so many of their songs . What a nit - if it wasn't actually borrowed from the pixies then it was from the who originally ('i can't explain'). |
Pixies – Havalina Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love this song, it's so sweet and yet it's about these great smelly peccaries (not warthogs or pigs mind). Somone on the net said you will smell them before you see them. i think Joey 'says' it at the beginning when his guitar turns dark and out of tune before the lyrics start. Everything is nice on the plains and then there is this funky smell... Maybe the band just love them anyway :) |
