Dead Kennedys – Moral Majority Lyrics

why would you say liberals and republicans instead of democrats and republicans? you're comparing an ideology to a political party, which seems misleading. the people you're talking about are democrats, not liberals, despite them claiming to be as such. |

in the 60's, Ralph Nader was an activist concerned with safety standards and such in the auto industry. he wrote a book called Unsafe At Any Speed (perhaps the inspiration for the punk compilation of the same name).

Big Boys – Which Way To Go Lyrics

at first i thought this was about a relationship in peril, but the verse about "the scene" makes it sound like it has something to do with the punk scene. he might be talking about how the punk scene is dead, and how it was a big part of him. |

Choking Victim – 500 Channels Lyrics

i'm guessing you're thinking of the song "carousel" by blink-182. it sounds similar, but it's not exactly the same. plus, a lot of pop punk bands use similar chord progressions. and the song "carousel" was released on the Buddha tape in 1993, and as far as i can tell, the first recording of 500 channels was released on a compilation in 1995. |

some (http://en.allexperts.com/e/m/mo/mormon_music.htm) say that "and if we die before the battle's through" is a reference to the mormon hymn "come come ye saints" in which starts off "and should we die before the journey's through..." |

Project X – Straightedge Revenge Lyrics

How was straight edge not accepted back in the early eighties when minor threat was a straight edge band? And why couldn't the Project X fans relate to Minor Threat? The message was sort of similar, although Project X presented it in more of a violent and militant manner. |

The Replacements – Customer Lyrics

oh, me and my modern ears. it first in the beginning it sounded like he was saying something like "okay, i'm in love with a girl that works at starbucks...". I mean, starbucks opened in the 1970's, but i'm not sure how common they were in '81. Also the items he lists can't be bought at starbucks anyway. shot down my own theory. This record in general is really great. There's a gap in my Replacements collection between stink and tim. I'm sure someday i'll get the music that goes in between there. |

Goldfinger – Chris Cayton Lyrics

the metal sign is that thing people do to make devil horns or whatever, with their hand. you basically put your pointer finger and pinky up in the air, and hold the two fingers in the middle (middle and index finger) down with your thumb. ironically, it's a little like "i love you" in sign language. it's simpler to look at actually, just search for "heavy metal hand" in google image search. i should have just said that in the first place. gahh |

Minor Threat – Salad Days Lyrics
|
thanks to minor threat, i had a good line to put at the end of this college essay i was writing the other day. it had nothing to do with MT, but i used the term "salad days" and i probably wouldn't have heard about it if i hadn't started listening to MT. |

Minor Threat – Minor Threat Lyrics

current hardcore? do you mean 2 step stuff that encourages hardcore dancing? Because they're plenty of good punk bands still around, and more are being made everyday. I mean, hell, i'm in a punk band, but we really are a minor threat. |

Senses Fail – Institutionalized (Suicidal Tendencies cover) Lyrics

I actually didn't know that. It makes more sense, but i still think the original is better. Both versions are kind of whiny, but this one takes the cake on whinyness. Also, i find that with original songs and covers, i end up liking whichever one i hear first. |

NOFX – Cops And Donuts Lyrics

that's because i do know everything. i can drive as fast and as reckless as i want to and not crash. i can drink as much as i want and not get alcohol poisoning. the man is always keeping me down. i am a god. bow down to me.
also, i'm not a cop, my name is offi-, uh, i mean matt. and i will take you up on that offer to buy some heroin, all i need is your name and address so i can enter them into my police cruiser's databse, i mean google. |

if i was middle aged, then i would probably be involved in the 80's punk scene as a young person and have shittier experiences with the cops than i do now. |

Black Flag – Six Pack Lyrics

I don't even claim edge myself, but isn't part of being edge avoiding promiscuous sex? I mean, he obviously wasn't going to start a relationship with some groupie girl over some meaningless sex they had in a car. Then again, as Ian said, "There's no set of rules." |

i like when he sings "it hurts so fucking much sometimes," i mean, just the emotion in his voice. i like the compilation version better than the one on their own record. |

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds has nothing to do with LSD, John wrote the song after his son gave him a drawing. His son told him it was of "Lucky In The Sky With Diamonds" and John made the song from that idea. |

Gray Matter – Flash In Time Lyrics

i can really relate to this song. It sounds like he's talking about one of those SSDD situations where day after day, everything just feels the same. It's all boring, and everyday slips past you, unending and unchanging. |

The Smiths – Shakespeare's Sister Lyrics

We wrote an essay in english class about the Shakespeare's sister concept, and i referenced this song. The teacher thought it was cool and played it on youtube for the class, but when she looked up the lyrics, she couldn't really see how the song connected with the Virginia Woolf essay. |

yeah, i also heard this was about Keith Morris. Plus, Henry Rollins seemed to be against stupid sloppy drunk people, but I don't think he was straight edge. In Get In The Van, he talks about having sex with some random girl on tour. |

Yeah, that's what he's good at i guess. At least N.W.A. has some songs about important topics like police brutality. |

This song sucks. There's millions of other more important topics that someone could write a song about. For some reason N.W.A. often seems to get stuck on this one. |

these lyrics are incomplete. anyways, i always wondered what the statement the singer makes at the end means. at first i thought it was "Your answer is non secular" but it's a different word. |

probably one of my least favorite BF songs played during Black Flag's more punk years. By that I mean there are worse songs during their metal years (Rat's Eyes?). |
