The Magnetic Fields – When My Boy Walks Down The Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I feel like grand pianos crash together when I hear this song :D |
Hot Iqs – Retromuff Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Let’s retrofect and erase the past It’s not as dumb the second time around So similar minds in such a different time It’s not as dumb the second time around Hanover Hanover We’ll go romping into the night Complete with thought for all Oh treasure Hide and I’ll take on You’re looking tough In your retro '70s muff It’s not as dumb the second time around So and so Similar minds in such a different time It’s not as dumb, dumb, duh-dee dumb Hanover Hanover We’ll go bumping into the night Complete with thought for all Oh treasure Hiding out to take on I know this room is cheating In fact, that’s it, we’re leaving Bring paper that you're pleading I won’t be lonesome Now that you’re home Now that you’re home Your retromuff and me together -?? Oh -- Still not right, but closer. |
The Cranberries – Zombie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
@ sugarcube... "black dongs"? Freudian slip if I ever heard one. And who covers this song? They play the cover on 93.3 here all the time. |
311 – Age of Consent Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What? New Order cover?! |
Hannah Montana – The Best of Both Worlds Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Miley Cyrus: Singer. Songwriter. Actress. Snake Monster. |
Everything Absent or Distorted (A Love Story) – Closer Than You Think Pt. 1 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is about looking at your life and what it really means, which, when you come down to it, is not very much at all. |
Billy Talent – Try Honesty Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I hear "What's it to you" but I honestly don't know... |
Hot Iqs – Duck and Cover Lyrics | 16 years ago |
rue the blue = voulez vous? French. Means do you want...? Usually not the whole sentence. But it never quite seemed to sound right either, so I'm not sure. Also, the bit about capes. I think that line may be "another case of flying under the radar". |
Hot Iqs – Retromuff Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"So simmer a mind in such a different time" is "So similar minds in such a different time" which makes sense in context, you know, old trends coming back, people thinking the same things are cool in different time periods... |
Hot Iqs – Hot IQs Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is kinda like three different songs mashed into one. There's the main part about hot girls, a part which doesn't quite fit about being unforgiving and then a totally random bit at the end about... bashing your head against the wall... which sorta counteracts the Hot IQs thing, no? |
Voxtrot – The Start of Something Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's been mentioned before, but this song is basically what would happen if Belle and Sebastian merged with The Smiths. It's amazing. It makes me love Voxtrot. |
Pencey Prep – Attention Reader Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is it just me or does this sound like a Trans-Siberian Orchestra song with a lot more screaming? I think it's the piano. Definitely Pencey's most likable song. |
My Chemical Romance – Skylines And Turnstiles Lyrics | 17 years ago |
First things first, the song is indeed about 9/11. While I agree with your comments about rather having no MCR than the incident, I must disagree with the "filthy terrorists" thing. Any small amount of research on the Web will uncover several conspiracy theories about 9/11 and our government– namely, that the government was responsible for 9/11 in the first place. Normally, I do not believe in crazy conspiracy theorists but the evidence for this case is somewhat overwhelming. We are fighting a pointless war for the wrong reasons. Thanks, Bush Admin. Stepping away from the hot topic of politics, I find this song entirely mediocre. You can really tell it's the first song they've written. Luckily, they got better with practice. Bash away, haters. Long live My Chemical Romance and the MCRmy. |
My Chemical Romance – The Ghost of You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The reason no one has commented is that the song is PROPERLY under The Ghost of You, not Ghost of You. Dodo. |
Aqueduct – Frantic (Roman Polanski version) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
There is a "Harrison Ford" version; it's on the "Power Ballads" CD that came out in 2003. It's instrumental, though, so it's not really interesting. |
Aqueduct – As You Wish Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Except except except I noticed you've written "to the vein" when it is really to the PAIN, as in when Westley is threatening Humperdinck on the bed in that room. |
Aqueduct – As You Wish Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Princess Bride is so, so FTW. |
The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 17 years ago |
12 pages of comments and not one person has suggested this, which means I am probably wrong. But it seems to me like this song is about rape. I dunno. |
Flight of the Conchords – Jenny Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haha yeah. I walked up to someone and we had a conversation vaguely resembling this one once. |
Flight of the Conchords – Business Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Nah, it's about being married and doing things the same way every time, every week. Including sex. This song is incredibly catchy! |
of Montreal – I Was Never Young Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is anyone else reminded of more recent Robert Smith when he says, "I was never young?" |
Nathan & Stephen – Like You Don't Care Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yay for first comment! Anyway. Does anyone else think he sounds like Mike Doughty? |
Skankin' Pickle – Turning Japanese (The Vapors cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
No one has commented yet? More power to me. |
The New Pornographers – Streets of Fire (Destroyer cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I hear impressed as opposed to oppressed. Anyway. To me this song is about trying too hard and taking too many risks for something that isn't necessarily worth it. |
My Chemical Romance – Demolition Lovers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Well, speaking of Bonnie and Clyde, my mom was compared to her... and no, I'm not kidding. o_0 My family has issues. This song rocks, but I think reading into it very much is a bad idea. Just enjoy the music, maybe? |
of Montreal – Wraith Pinned to the Mist (And Other Games) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I suspect that, second only to cutting open the belly of a Tauntaun and crawling in, a great way to warm oneself in sub-freezing climes is to git nekid and create friction." *snirk* You make me giggle. :D |
Hannah Montana – The Best of Both Worlds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Grunge girl: I agree wholeheartedly. Sparkle: Good for you Pink: I won't say the obvious "10 and 12 aren't that much different" thing you get from most people because of what I said and did when I was 12 as opposed to 10. Ah... anyway. At least you have some redeeming qualities. |
Hannah Montana – The Other Side of Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It doesn't matter that this isn't the whole song. It wouldn't be any better if it was. Repeating a few lines, especially a few DRASTICALLY CLICHE lines, over and over again should not get Destiny- oh sorry, Miley- the status she has. Oh wait, it didn't- her one-hit-wonder daddy did. |
The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This isn't really about the meaning of the song (sorry), but... I got to go on stage at the 2003 Denver show. I was wearing a karate uniform and I'd colored my old white belt black (dressed up as Yoshimi, basically), and there were all these guys behind me. When this song came on they started cheering really loud and pointing at me, and Wayne looked down and pulled me on to the stage. Yeesh, I was like... 8 at that show. It was a pretty good first show for me, and now whenever my dad and I go to a show, he says, "You know you probably won't get to go on stage this time." Thanks TFL!! |
Zooey – Weekend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is awesome! I only hope I got the lyrcis right. If you haven't heard Zooey, download their album for FREE at http://frannyandzooey.org/downloads.html |
The Audition – Dance Halls Turn to Ghost Towns Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ha, well no hard feelings. I get the same way, as you can see. |
The Audition – Dance Halls Turn to Ghost Towns Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sheesh, followtheformat, harsh much? Maybe Keeper meant amateur. So, returning the format of your comment, shut your fucking mouth you shithole fascist. |
Brian Eno – St. Elmo's Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
St. Elmo's Fire is a really weird phenomenon. Wikipedia it! |
M.I.A. – Galang Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Quest, I've come to a similar conclusion about the people on this site. How much longer does it take to type 'you' rather than 'u', anyway? Thank you for your excellent analyzation of this song. |
Belle & Sebastian – If You're Feeling Sinister Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"He wants to remember things exactly as he left them on that Wednesday" No, he says funny day- doesn't he? |
Limp Bizkit – Nookie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song was on Gilmore Girls, briefly. |
Group X – I Just Want (Bang Bang Bang) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Haha, I was thing song when I was like 9. Of couse, by then I had only a shred of innocence left, anyway. I think this song is only second to Scfifty-five! |
Group X – Schfifty-five Lyrics | 18 years ago |
How you count to schfifty-five: Schwon. Dew. Dew an haif. Scheven. Schfourteen-teen. Schwenty-one. Schwenty-seven haif. Twenty seven, thirty seven, SCHFIFTY FIVE On the flash thing for this his "girlfriend" is scary. But I was laughing so hard it didn't matter. |
New Order – Temptation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song. It's the first New Order song I'd ever heard; my mom played it for me before she ran off to God knows where. I can listen to it and feel hope for my life... Plus, my eyes change colors, from blue to green to grey! My dad laughed at me when I said that the song reminded me of myself. |
Belle & Sebastian – Seeing Other People Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For one thing: "We won't get into trouble" - "We won't get in a muddle" I agree with Schizima, the piano part is super similar to the Charlie Brown melody. I think it's about two guys who aren't gay but are "kissing just for practice", and they decide being gay isn't worth it. Just my interpretation, though. |

Oasis – Cigarettes & Alcohol Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Not only the guitar part was stolen. It's the SAME song, with different lyrics; My dad's theory: Oasis was playing a cover of Bang a Gong, the guy sang different words, and they said, "Wow! We have a new song!" |
Wolf Parade – Shine a Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a great song. Has anyone seen the music video for this song? It's... interesting, to say the least. |
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – In This Home on Ice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The first verse is about his relationship with a girl way out of his league, who's talking about suicide (the noose) and confusing him, because he didn't know she was depressed. He's obviously a hipster, because of the 'dance all night' part (haha, that amuses me greatly). In the second verse he realizes she wasn't serious about committing suicide. She was just trying to get his attention, and she leaves a suicide note (presumably saying she's going to step in front of a car or jump off a bridge) and waits for him to come "save" her, and he says trying to save her is a waste of time because she just does it again. The next verse is about him watching a program on some channel that's not necessarily very trustworthy, maybe about suicide again, and this time his girl really does commit suicide, and when he reads the note this time it says "And I dont care if you dont like it or just don't see", because she knows he stopped believing her. The last few verses he realizes he's not really anything without her, so he jumps (off something- maybe onto ice or something) as a crowd watches, and they're all startled because nobody thought he would really do it. As he jumps, he sees the sunset one last time and wonders if he made a mistake, and begins to scream and the crowd is confused, but it's too late to do anything. Overall a very sad song for me. |
Wolf Parade – We Built Another World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, this sounds like he had sex with an underage girl. "At the party we got chained at the wrists"= getting arrested "Everyone's disguised just a little bit"= she looked older than she was, and he looked younger, and they didn't know "Outside there's girls saying It's not gonna be just only a kiss"= the girl's friends knew it was going to happen, or it happened before. The whole "I had a bad bad time tonight" thing works with my theory. "We built another world"= When it happened neither of them where really thinking about it, they were in their own world |
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – In This Home on Ice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is really beautiful, and I think that unlike a lot of the other CYHSY songs it really does mean something, except maybe the line about the ravaged cabbage. Of course, I could be overlooking an obvious metaphor, but yeah. A couple clarifications about the lyrics (because I am so very anal): Alec says "I guess with some distaste I disagree", not "The guests with some distaste they disagree". You would know this if you looked in the liner notes. Also, he says "With quite a fashionable dispassion..." not "With quite the fashionable dispassion". Finally, there are a few spelling mistakes and he says "How now did you see what I did see..." yada yada and so on. Apologies again for being so anal, but I am quite the perfectionist. |
