This is becoming my fav song on All The Lost Souls. Another song about a girl and her troubles but thankfully I don't think it's too similar to his other tracks. I think the best written part is the bit about New York. I think some of the lyrics are a little off, but I'm not sure. i.e. I think it's "And they're all so pretty in NYC tonight...taken from the world tonight"...although actually I like "to light" better. |

Cute and catchy pretty much sums it up. A guy frustrated and puzzled with a girl, and the song just expresses that without an epiphany or solution or anything like that. |

I just heard this last night on Saturday Night Live, and now I finally think the album is worth getting. I love his voice in this, especially the "What goes around comes back around" party right at the end. The lyrics are pretty much self-explanatory, but ultimately I think it's either wishful thinking or coincidence, I wouldn't bet on karma. |

I love this song too, I think it's my favourite one on the album. I agree with everything that's been said. It's about someone who had a lot of expectations put on her and things didn't work out like everyone thought they would. At the same time, she's not entirely faultless because she made the choice to party and hook up with the wrong someone. |

It's true, James Blunt hit the jackpot with this song. Whether you like the song or not (personally, I love it), you have to admit that this song strikes a cord in people. This song, simple as it is, endears itself on the people who like it and sticks in the minds of those who don't. Anyway, I already posted this on the first page, but to me, this song is about connecting for a brief moment with a stranger. And to James Blunt this song is about seeing his ex-girlfriend on the subway, while she was with a new guy. |

I heard this song live the other night and it was so beautiful I wanted to cry. We meet these people who transform our lives and ourselves, but then we have to let go of them even though we want to hang on. The line I don't get is "You quietly made me/ Made me into YOU". It doesn't sound like a positive thing. |

Yeah, I think it's NOT him saying that. There are people growing up and being adults (or the harsher way of putting it would be "conforming") and he doesn't really blame them for doing that because they are just "attempting to be human beings" but he does blame them for "Telling me how great their life is/ And how happy I would be if I could/ Just be more like them ". Anyway, this is one of my favourite The Boy Least Likely To songs. |

even though I obviously know what the title of the song is, I keep hearing "who I am MAKES who I've been".... meaning: regret second chances redemption guilt growing up and reflecting on the growing process. i don't really see the addicition interpretation, but if you do, that's cool I LOVE the video for this song. |

I think it's possible that this song is about them hating LA-- a city with a lot of lights and sounds, but little substance? Maybe a song about "fakeness"? Painted faces, fake smiles, and nobody is really there? I don't like this song as much as I like most of the older ones, but it's a catchy song, and I think it will song good live. |

this is a great song and I'm glad it helps people. The video, esp the longer version is really sad. Given that this song was on their break out album, I'll disagree with the last person about why the band wrote the song, but maybe it was the reason for it being released as a single and the video. |

I guess if James said that on Richard and Judy, it must be true, but the her not seeing him bit doesn't really fit. This song reminds me of the story told in Citizen Kane, when Mr. Bernstein (I think) tells the story about seeing a girl with a white dress on a ferry. He didn't think that she saw him, but he though she was beautiful, and not a day went by when he didn't think of her. Anyway, I love this song. |
