I don't think Maynard is against God at all, all I think he is saying is to question what we've been taught since birth, the religion. I think he's talking toward other cultures, religions, how they see Buddah, or idols people worship. He's telling them "Fuck your God" because God said basically to not worship any other god or idol, I am the only God, so that's what he's saying, IMO. |

Ok, here's my two cents: This song is about how religion is metaphorically strangling/choking a young lady, hence she's turning blue. Even though Maynard has said that he will not relate any more of his songs about religion and so forth, I've always loved to relate all of his songs towards organized religion. I myself believe that you don't have to believe in on religion to go to Heaven, and that you should question it and do what you believe is right in the eyes of God. But, back to the song, he says Mistook their nods for an approval Just ignore the smoke and smile Smoke = Religion Their nods = people of the church, maybe a priest, pastor, who knows Then he says that he didn't want to know, to me this means that he never wanted to know what organized religion was, therefore he could clear his conscience, and think freely for himself, instead of being pushed into it. |

| Um, did anyone ever think that maybe this song is about being unhappy because of someone else? 'Cause if you listen really really closely in the beginning of the song, you'll hear them saying things like "I wonder why him/her is so down." Some songs don't have double meanings, but hell, let's be like everyone else and think that every song is about sex and drugs, shall we? | |
