just adding this to the main lyrics: give me one good reason not to do it (because i love you) so do it But it's so very heartbreaking to hear that sample of Jennifer saying "because I love you" after he pleads, "Give me one good reason not to do it." crank it up and give it a good listen, her voice is really in there, in the track, saying just that... i read in an interview that in concerts she would say that out loud after he sang that verse. why didn't he listen? |

it pretty much explains itself, doesn't it? i mean if you know about some of his life and music, this is about hiding within yourself, drinkin druggin and losing it, but not completely... So I wait for the f-train (white city on the yellow line) i always thought he was singing, "while sitting on the yellow line" like, on the side of the platform, which is actually insane, but loved it! sometimes what i hear is totally diff. than the actual lyrics... I thought he said, "column reporter" not color, He drinks all night to take away this curse But it makes me feel much worse Well, he is him. |

i agree with the third person bit...and i love that. it makes the song more universal, diverting attention away from himself which seems characteristic, and then allowing the listener to adapt the meaning to fit themselves and in any way they see fit. A hostile song, but i think "you'll take advantage til you think you're being used cos' without an enemy your anger gets confused " could be more specific about someone else. Like someone he just totally despises, himself, his stepfather? |

Did she screw him over? I almost wonder if this situation he sings about was the final straw for him. This song could be telling, but was a strange mystery it all is anyway. Perhaps he just had a thing going with someone and it ended all wrong. It's really resentful, and he's really hurt. |

i love how duracell bunny is really the energizer bunny and can totally visualize the whole scene right in my head. nothing more depressing about a parade anyway...they are full of such pomp and circumstance; and whether it's in portland and coincidentally in la, the idea of a parade on new years day is just another day of hangovers and trying to put on heirs that just get faked out anyways...
