Lyric discussion by MasterofMetal

David Gilmour said it is kind of his biography. He wrote and recorded the entire song all on his own. He also said that it was the last song that was written on the Division Bell, which is the last Pink Floyd album. The last Pink Floyd song ever written, and it is fitting. Because it sounds so damn sad.

@MasterofMetal He does also speak for the band...this song is about the rise and fall of PF and though it is melancholy it is inspired, true and one is left with a good feeling because PF always had something to look forward to throughout their careers the next album was always another masterpiece and a solid 30 year run is nothiing to shake a stick at. It is also brilliant and a peace to KNOW WHEN YOU ARE DONE. It was actually a privilege many don't take advantage of to be able to compose such a perfect eulogy...
