To me, this song is about scientology and other religions where lame ass philosophies are sold to people (ie "what i want and what i need is and will always be free").
@surge3 agree does delve a little into religion, however I think it goes further than that ... it is more general in that it is about anyone who is trying to tell you what is best for you (what to do) etc. So could encompass religion, government, companies, advertisement, celebrities etc etc etc.
