Although this song has such a happy beat, I get a negative feel from it. I imagine someone in a bad relationship, where the partner is controlling it. {I'll just use "he" as the controller and "she" as the other person to make it easier.} She always tells him stuff like, "C'mon! Let's go do something," and he always has some excuse like, "I wish I could, but I'm busy." Near the end of the song, she tries to get out of the relationship, but he makes her feel guilty.

"Two birds on a wire One tries to fly away and the other Watches him close from that wire He says he wants to as well, but he is a liar"

I get a "Don't leave me; I'll change!" vibe from those lines.

Oh yeah I get that same vibe. And the "I'll believe it all, I won't let go of your hand" bit makes me think of someone holding their partner's hand like "oh, yeah, uh-huh... I bet honey" but not actually listening to a single thing, you know? Like "oh, yeah, I believe you, whatever". It's interesting it's got such a happy beat to it though. I guess like a lot of relationships (at least a lot that I know)- they seem happy but if you know much about them they aren't. :(

why the HELL does it have to be a “he” and “she”? SHE SAID HE AND HE, IF SHE MEANT HE AND SHE SHE WOULD'VE SUNG THAT INSTEAD. Why the HELL does it have to be a heterosexual relationship, if it even is a song about a relationship? What's wrong with it being homosexuals, huh? WHAT? the song's meaning probably isn't even what you stated, it has a much deeper feeling to it, like how caring for someone can drag you down.

@kopra

wow i completely agree with you, like when you said "I wish I could, but I'm busy." There is another line where she sings;

" Two birds of a feather, Say that they're always gonna stay together, but ones never going to let go of that wire "

Perhaps indicates that he's being slightly toxic and doesnt want her to leave and likes being in one place, "but ones never going to let go of that wire" and the other bird, she wants to leave and explore.
