i think its a song about homeless people. the rockin in the free world part is kinda sarcastic. its sayin we live in a free country, but it isnt that way for many people
While that's not a bad interpretation of it, id say it's more about people overseas hating Americans, and him saying "I don't feel like Satan but to them I am." To me people sleeping in their shoes is hobos being on the run, but what he's really doing is describing the hatred and oppression both domestic and overseas, rockin' in a world that aint always quite so free.

and speak about what's going wrong... Whereas in the Islamic world any criticism
will lead to jail or death as in the case of Salman Rushdie ... So Keep Rocking in the
