I'm down a one way street
With a one night stand
With a one track mind
Out in no man's land
The punishment sometimes
Don't seem to fit the crime

Yeah there's a hole in my soul
But one thing I've learned
For every love letter written
There's another one burned
So you tell me how it's gonna be this time

Is it over?
Is it over?
'Cause I'm blowin' out the flame

Take a walk outside your mind
Tell me how it feels to be The one who turns
The knife inside of me

Take a look and you will find
There's nothing there, girl
Yeah I swear, I'm telling you, girl yeah "Cause

There's a hole in my soul
That's been killing me forever
It's a place where a garden never grows
There's a hole in my soul
Yeah, I should have known better
'Cause your love's like a thorn without a rose
Yeah, yeah

I'm as dry as a seven year drought
I got dust for tears Yeah I'm all tapped out
Sometimes I feel broken can't get fixed

I know there's been all kinds of shoes
Underneath your bed
Now I sleep with my boots on
But you're still in my head
And something tells me this time
I'm down to my last licks

'Cause if it's over
Then it's over
And it's driving me insane

Take a walk outside your mind
Tell me how it feels to be
The one who turns the knife inside of me
Take a look and you will find
There's nothing there, girl, yeah, I swear
I'm telling you girl yeah "Cause

There's a hole in my soul
That's been killing me forever
It's a place where a garden never grows
There's a hole in my soul
Yeah, I should have known better
'Cause your love's like a thorn without a rose
Yeah, yeah

Yeah, is it over?
Yeah, it's over
And I'm blowing out the flame

Take a walk outside your mind
Tell me how it feels to be
The one who turns the knife inside of me
Take a look and you will find
There's nothing there, girl, yeah, I swear
I'm telling you girl yeah "Cause

There's a hole in my soul
That's been killing me forever
It's a place where a garden never grows
There's a hole in my soul
Yeah, I should have known better
'Cause your love's like a thorn without a rose
Yeah, yeah, yeah

(Good night Taj, good night Chelsea cha!)

This song tears me up...I can relate to it fully. When someone you care so much lets you down it leaves a bruise within yourself that no other relationship you might have will heal. So it always reminds me of that friend-lover of mine I used to have, maybe someday I will be brave enough to tell him how much he hurt me inside, and that he really was the one that turned the knife inside of me acting like he did. And he left a hole. Slowly stepping out of that hurting situation and say goodbye is what this song means to me, and the pain it leaves you, even knowing that's the best and only thing you can do. These lines tell me so:

"I'm as dry as a seven year drought, I got dust for tears and I'm all tapped out Sometimes I feel broke and can't get fixed

I know there's been all kinds of shoes underneath your bed Now I sleep with my boots on but you're still in my head And somethin' tells me this time I'm down to my last licks..."

this is my favorite Aerosmith song ever... I fell in love with this song when it first came out.. i remember. I had just been allowed to watch MTV and then they had this music video and this nerdy guy is like cloning and making these beautiful girls for him but they'd leave him for a jock or whoever, (He gets a chick in the end dont worry). I love the song though.

I get to see them tonight live and i hope they play this song :D

this song brings back good memories...my best friend and i listened to it 8 hours straight...her boyfriend just made her a cd with this song on it they broke up not too long after we pretty much became obsessed with it...they had it on the jukebox at my old job...i played it for the one who turns the knife inside of me...and even though it was two years ago...he still does, sadly enough lol

Great song, but depressing at the same time, because its seems to me this song is about still being in love with someone who doesn't love you back, but at the same time keeps stringing you along and playing with your emotions. So you go out to find someone to take their place:

"I'm down a one way street With a one night stand With a one track mind Out in no man's land The punishment sometimes Don't seem to fit the crime"

but the thing is you can't replace this person and you're left feeling all lost and then you finally realize that you can move on and you feel nothing.

I luv this song!! it's one of my favorites. I think is about being hurted by someone you really love and feel uncapable of ever love again It's about feelin' dead inside cause you lost your true love and you're sufferin' "There's a hole in my soul that's been killing me forever it's a place where a garden never grows" Very sad and very intense Awesome song!! he wants to know if its really over for good this time. and he wants the other person to think about it deeply. and the hole is something thats been getting at him for a while, and hes been trying to replace it with other things but the pain eventually catches up

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
