In the morning it comes, heaven sent a hurricane
Not a trace of the sun but I don't even run from rain
Beating out of my chest, my heart is holding on to you
From the moment I knew
From the moment I knew
You are the air in my breath filling up my love soaked lungs
Such a beautiful mess intertwined and overrun
Nothing better than this, oh, and then the storm can come
You feel just like the sun
Just like the sun

And if you say we'll be alright
I'm going to trust you, babe
I'm going to look in your eyes
And if you say we'll be alright
I'll follow you into the light

Never mind what I knew, nothing seems to matter now
Ooh, who I was without you, I can do without
No one knows where it ends, how it may come tumbling down
But I'm here with you now
I'm with you now

And if you say we'll be alright
I'm gonna to trust you, babe
I'm gonna look in your eyes
And if you say we'll be alright
I'll follow you into the light

Let the world come rush in
Come down hard, come crushing
All I need is right here beside me
I'm not enough, I swear it
Take my love and and wear it over your shoulders

And if you say we'll be alright
I'm gonna trust you, babe
I'm gonna look in your eyes
And if you say we'll be alright
I'll follow you into the light

The light
The light

To me, this song is about loving life itself - and someone in your life, so much you're completely overrun with emotion. it's the simplest thing - still it's so complicated. You fear losing him/her, you fear your loved one might get hurt. You fear dying - but feel safe, free and almost immortal in his/her arms. It's bitter sweet. Harsh. And loving.

"In the morning it comes heaven sent a hurricane Not a trace of the sun but I don't even run from rain Beating out of my chest, my heart is holding onto you"

    • intense emotions, she is desperately, almost uncontrollably attached to him, despite the fact that they seem to be separated from each other. Her strength is her emotions. Her ties to him.

"You're the air in my breath filling up my love-soaked lungs Such a beautiful mess, intertwined and overrun Nothing better than this, knowing that the storm can come You feel just like the sun"

    • She is so completely overtaken by him and them together that she hardly matters (to herself). the two of them. that's it. The two of them - and the storm can come. He feels like the sun. He eases her troubled mind. Her heavy heart. Life is light. He feels like the sun.

"If you say We'll be alright, I'm gonna trust you babe, Gonna look in your eyes. And if you say we'll be alright, I'll follow you into the light."

    • All she needs is him to believe in them, the two. She is afraid they won't last. She is burdened by the thought. But if he leads - she will follow (because deep inside, she knows. but the feelings are too grande to accept. too frightful.)

"Never mind what I knew Nothing seems to matter now Oh, who I was without you, I can do without. No one knows where it ends, how it may come tumbling down, But I'm here with you now."

    • Again, she's a wreck. Her thoughts are spinning. She's OK with giving up on herself, just as long as she gets him to believe, to support, to love and be loved by. This piece to me is written in retrospect, portraying her almost surreal way of putting herself in a deeply troublesome situation. At least she is at peace, when she is with him. If that peace comes from right emotions, that is...

"Let the world come rush in, come down hard, come crushing, All I need is right here beside me. It's not enough, I swear it But take my love and wear it over your shoulders."

    • They have hurt each other, and have been hurt by others before this. She wants to protect him as her emotions to him protects her. She knows it won't matter, they're not immortal, as she feels she is. No one is. It hurts to be hurt, and it hurts to loose the one you love. Love, in this sense, is a gift - the gift they should and can give each other. They might be parting soon. They might have overcome a crisis. Or have already parted. This entire song is about desire so great it tears you apart. Bittersweet. Joyful. And harsh. The two of them - let the storm come.

    these lyrics are slightly wrong.

In the morning it comes heaven sent a hurricane Not a trace of the sun but I don't even run from rain Beating out of my chest, my heart is holding onto you From the moment I knew, From the moment I knew.

You're the air in my breath filling up my love-soaked lungs Such a beautiful mess, intertwined and overrun Nothing better than this, oh and then the storm can come. You feel just like the sun, Just like the sun.

If you say We'll be alright, I'm gonna trust you babe, Gonna look in your eyes. And if you say we'll be alright, I'll follow you into the light.

Never mind what I knew Nothing seems to matter now Oh, who I was without you, I can do without. No one knows where it ends, how it may come tumbling down, But I'm here with you now. I'm with you now.

If you say we'll be alright, I'm gonna trust you babe I'm gonna look in your eyes. And if you say We'll be alright, I'll follow you into the light.

Let the world come rush in, come down hard, come crushing, All I need is right here beside me. It's not enough, I swear it But take my love and wear it over your shoulders.

And if you say We'll be alright I'm gonna trust you babe Gonna look in your eyes And you say we'll be alright I'll follow you into the light.

this is probably my favorite song off the CD.

    My Interpretation

Made an account here just because I'm surprised to be the only one here to be pretty sure that this song is about dying.

    My Opinion

I agree with Felipe. This song is about a woman who has lost her husband of many years. They are together again in her dreams but then the morning comes. Just between sleep and awake she can hold on to the feeling of being together knowing it will go. She is waiting for her time to die. When he will bring her into the light to be together again. Forever

I think it could be interpreted as a religious song with a spiritual undertone to it, but with "babe gonna look in your eyes" I think she's signing about the beginning of a relationship, trusting that they'll take care of her heart, and hoping for happy times (the light). Beautifulll heartfelt song.

Gorgeous song! I think it's about how this person is putting all of their trust into their lover and as long as they have each other everything is good.

I actually have a completely different meaning for this song. I had an affair and this is how the other man made me feel. I wasn't in love with him. Yet somehow he pulled me in. It was almost like I was under a spell. Put yourself in my shoes and then listen to the song again.

I can see the affair angle. But I really feel this is about the beginning of a new relationship, and trusting the other person not to hurt you, which can be difficult after past bad experiences...

This song rings true to me so much right now.

I am 7000 miles away from the woman I love, the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. And I will be for another 9 months. She sent me the youtube video of this song. I know she loves me and the best way she can show it is by trusting me, trusting that I am going to continue to love her.

I love you, babe. I can't wait to hold you again. Thank you for trusting me. I promise I will do anything and everything I can to love you better, bee.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
