Here we go again
I kinda wanna be more than friends
So take it easy on me
I'm afraid you're never satisfied

Here we go again
We're sick like animals
We play pretend
You're just a cannibal
And I'm afraid I won't get out alive
No, I won't sleep tonight

Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
What are you waitin' for?
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

Here we are again
I feel the chemicals kickin' in
It's gettin' heavier
I wanna run and hide
I wanna run and hide
I do it every time
You're killin' me now
And I won't be denied by you
The animal inside of you

Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
What are you waitin' for?
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

Hush, hush, the world is quiet
Hush, hush we both can't fight it
It's us that made this mess
Why can't you understand?
Whoa, I won't sleep tonight
I won't sleep tonight

Here we go again
Here we go again
Here we go again

Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
Take a bite of my heart tonight
Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
What are you waitin' for?
What are you waitin'

Here we go again (oh, oh)
Here we go again (oh, oh)
Here we go again (oh, oh)
Take a bite of my heart tonight

Oh, oh
I want some more
Oh, oh
What are you waitin' for?
What are you waitin' for?
Say goodbye to my heart tonight

The guy likes a girl and he's pretty sure she likes him too. They act like friends but they both sense that they want more from each other. But for whatever reasons, they are both scared to fully admit it or pursue anything. The guy notices that they are behaving like animals in the sense that the girl plays hard to get, and the boy must chase her down (if you notice, in the wild, the girl animal usually blows off the male a few times before she finally gives in). Even though they act like they aren't that incredibly interested, he knows they both are, hence the way he mentions that they're playing pretend.

He's scared he "won't get out alive" or "I won't sleep tonight" because it's driving him crazy that they're not doing anything about their attraction to each other.

The whole chorus seems to be the guy saying "hey, I want more than what we currently have. I want to pursue this further. Go ahead and tell me how you feel, make a move, take a bite of my heart, let me know you want me too so I can give into you fully. What are you waiting for? Things are never going to change if we keep pretending. When he talks about the chemicals kicking in, I think he's talking about he feels his feelings for her hitting him harder and harder as time goes on, and it makes him nervous and scared when she's around, so he wants to run and hide because he likes her more and more as time goes on, and he's scared of getting hurt so he's scared of liking her more. "I do it everytime, you're killing me now" This means perhaps that everytime he has a chance to pursue things further he chickens out, and it's killin' him that she makes him nervous.
"I won't be denied by you, the animal inside of you" the guy and the girl act so normal around each other, so calm and such, but he knows that somewhere inside of her, she wants him and she's sexual, and he just wants them both to be able to unleash how they really feel AND indulge in physical relations with one another, and his animal instincts are kicking in because, like in the wild, the male animal takes on the attitude that he will NOT be denied by the female animal.

Finally Hush, hush The world is quiet Hush, hush We both can't fight it It's us that made this mess Why can't you understand? Whoa, I won't sleep tonight

means that the world is quiet when they are around each other because they are only focusing on each other. He senses that they both can't fight the undeniable attraction to one another. And the mess he's talking about is the mess that they created by flirting and carrying on for a long time without purusuing their feelings, thus creating confusion and an animal-like game out of things, and he won't be able to sleep at night because things have finally gotten to the point where he can't stand it anymore and wants to pursue things further with her.

My best friend dedicated this song to me & our relationship, since then I've listen to it more than a million times and have every word memorized. We have been suppressing our feelings to each other and even ourselves, that one day everything just got out. We both want to be more than friends and we know how much in love we are with each other but our current situation won't allow any of it. He told me that we are both really good at pretending nothing is happening, that we don't have any feelings more than the ones friends should have and how we both can't denied and does not want to be denied by the other. This song just describes our frustrating situation so well, and if one day we are able to finally take our friendship to the level it deserves to be this song will definitely will be "our" song.

in an interview, tyler glenn [when asked about what 'animal' is about] said: Yeah, Animal. I always found that I’m not very good to myself when I’m in a relationship it’s something that I need to work on. Even though there is a lot of pain and drama and I almost ask for more in a way. I wanted to take some of the dark elements of that and put it into a pop song people could relate to. I think everyone when they are in love they almost always put the other person before them and in extreme ways sometimes. Its kind of, well, I was taking a lighter approach to that.

I'm not going to lie, this song is just about perfect in describing a situation I'm going through right now.

Here we go again I kinda wanna be more than friends So take it easy on me I'm afraid you're never satisfied.

He's in love with a girl, but she's complicated, more so than most women (no offense!) but she just wants to stay friends. Whether out of caution or other obligations (booyfriend/husband). He's afraid she's just using him for whatever

Here we go again We're sick like animals We play pretend You're just a cannibal And I'm afraid I wont get out alive No I won't sleep tonight

They both love each other, the emotion is there, but she has her reservations about being with him. They both know the only thing she can give him is sex, but he doesn't care. Consequences be damned, he just wants to enjoy her in any way possible, even if it means pretending for the short time he's with her in any regard. He knows his heart will be broken and can't stop thinking/worrying about it.

I want some more What are you waitin' for? Take a bite of my heart tonight I want some more What are you waitin' for? Say goodbye to my heart tonight

They've done it once before, why can't they again? The only emotion he can get from her is during sex, so he wants it to keep coming. Take a bite of my heart, make it part of you, and when we're all done, leave me alone and go back to whoever it is you have waiting for you.

Here we are again I feel the chemicals kickin' in It's gettin' heavier I wanna run and hide I wanna run and hide

When he's around her, he can't help but feel emotions/aroused/whatever. They start doing they're thang, but he almost doesn't see a point to it. It's futile, why bother?

I do it every time You're killin' me now And I won't be denied by you The animal inside of you

The same thoughts happen every time, and she's breaking his heart but he knows neither of them can say no to each other.

Hush, hush The world is quiet Hush, hush We both can't fight it It's us that made this mess Why can't you understand? Whoa, I won't sleep tonight

It's late and they're post-romancing, but she won't shut up about how wrong it is and how bad they should feel. He just wants them to enjoy what they have but when she leaves he'll be just as depressed/mad/ashamed.

I know because I'm in a crap situation, I'm going to impose how I feel onto any interpretable facet of life, but it makes sense, yeah?

I know exactly what this song is about. It's about these two lovers. One who is just in it for the sex and the other who just can't help but keep going back to that person knowing that nothing is going to happen. :(

    My Interpretation

I think this song is about a guy that likes a girl and he doesn't know whether she likes him back. It's kind of eating him alive. He wants to know what she thinks of him. He's saying that if she does like him back, she should go ahead and tell him, go for it.

    Song Meaning

And I won't be denied by you, The animal inside of you

that gives me tingles whenever i hear it =]

I think it's about a guy and girl who have strong feelings for each other but have never acted on them and now he wants to pursue the relationship but she is sort of hesistant and she doesnt want to give in to her feelings. The whole while they are pretending to not be attracted to each other and it's i killing him inside.

oh and i think that when he says 'And I won't be denied by you, The animal inside of you' he is saying i know you feel the same so why do we just try

'You're just a cannibal and I'm afraid I won't get out alive' 'Oh oh what are you waiting for, what are you waiting for Take a bite of my heart tonight' I think these both are part of what i wrote above that he is getting hurt waiting for her to make the move and ecide if she really wants to be with him

Love this! But...is it "take a bite of my heart tonight" or "say goodbye to my heart tonight". Sometimes it sounds like both. I think I like "take a bite" better though!

    this. song. is. epic.

As many have mentioned previously the guy is crazy about a her, but despite their playful relationship is unsure of her feelings. Telling her if she likes him do not hesitate because he is all in. "What are you waiting for? Take a bite of my heart tonight"

    ooooooooooooooooo I wont sleep toniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
