As they dig your ditches count my stitches
Generation justice wishes for world at war
Final score, media come and abhor us

These are hard times we'll work harder, harder
Through these hard times I'll work harder, harder

Divided nation in sedation, overload of information
That we have grown up to ignore mediocrity applauded

In these hard times we'll work harder, harder
Through these hard times I'll work harder, harder
For resolution show me some revolution
This battle will be won

Forced to count the hours since Two Towers
Fell to fiction those higher powers
Putting gods to war, who keeps score
Ignorance is still adored

And through these hard times we'll work harder, harder
Give me hard times, I'll work harder, harder
For revolution hard time for some resolution
Time for some revolution, this battle will be won

If they only see you with their fear
And they only hear you with their pride
And they only see you with their fear
And they only hear you with their pride

And work harder, harder, harder, harder
Harder, harder, harder, harder, hard times

this song is fucking awesome :D the beginning always makes me think it's Bloc Party's Hunting for Witches though, I wonder if it's deliberate? They have similar themes.

When I saw him play this live in 2007, there was a line like 'kill the king and crown the witches'. Obviously it hasn't made it onto the final cut, but I quite liked it.

    Correct lyrics:

As they Dig your ditches Count my stitches

Generation justice Wishes for World at war Final score Media come and abhor us These Our hard times But we'll work harder, harder Give me hard times And I'll work harder, harder

Divided nation In sedation Overload of information That we have grown up To ignore... Mediocrity applauded Through these hard times We'll work harder Give me hard times And I'll work harder, harder

    For revolution

Show me some Resolution And this Battle will be won

Forced to count the hours Since two towers Fell to fiction those higher powers Putting gods to war Who keeps score?

Ignorance is still adored All through these hard times We'll work harder, harder Give me hard times And I'll work harder harder For revolution Show me some revolution

    This battle will be won

If they only see you with their fear And they only hear you with their pride

    Then work harder

    Harder

To be honest I never really like The Magic Position as a full album. Yeah there was Overture which blew me away and The Magic Position was always fun to dance to. Let's hope Patrick comes back strong with this one. This song is pretty good. I like the lyrics. They're very motivational to me. They make me wanna go out get somethin'. :)

i reckon this is about how people in America think the twin towers was the worst thing to ever happen but they aren't counting all the horrible things they have done for example Hiroshima.

    My Interpretation

Well, obviously, I could be right and I could be wrong, but I'm thinking this song is a little bit like about how the media plays and shows things over and over again and we're becoming numb to some things. Example: 'since two towers fell to fiction' The footage of the two towers falling was played over and over again on the news and even personally, I began to not care. We are becoming sort of 'numb' to things that could even be considered a big deal and even rulers wrecking the country (what ever country that may be) is allowed by the citizens as a whole because it's become an accepted fact.

I think this song is all about War. People always think their side is the 'right' side in war. And cruel acts are justified. Any misjustice isn't questioned, it's just covered up by the majority of the population.

If anyone has read Animal Farm, this song screams Boxer to me. The workhorse who believed everything would be okay if he worked harder. Even though the farm was being turned into a dictatorship and it was moving away from their idea of a perfect society (everyone pulling their weight and earning equality, god, it's an allegory to communism, what more can I say?), he wasn't smart enough to realize that he had to do more than just work harder. But that was all he could do.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
