I dance around this empty house
Tear us down
Throw you out
Screaming down the halls
Spinning all around and now we fall

Pictures framing up the past
Your taunting smirk behind the glass
This museum full of ash
Once a tickle
Now a rash

This used to be a funhouse
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down down down
I'm gonna burn it down

Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, fun

Echoes knocking on locked doors
All the laughter from before
I'd rather live out on the street
Than in this haunted memory

I've called the movers
Called the maids
We'll try to exorcise this place
Drag my mattress to the yard
Crumble tumble house of cards

This used to be a fun house
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down down down

This used to be a fun house
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down down down
I'm gonna burn it down

Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, fun

Oh, I'm crawling through the doggy door
My key don't fit my lock no more
I'll change the drapes
I'll break the plates
I'll find a new place
Burn this fucker down

Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do da da da da
Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do dodo do
Do do do do dodo doo

This used to be a fun house
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down down down

This used to be a fun house
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down down down
I'm gonna burn it down

    My Interpretation

I think the whole song is symbolic for a relationship, even though there is no definite proof for this.

"This used to be a funhouse" - A funhouse is a play-thing in a fair for young children to play in. Their love is young and naive, a fun thing with lots of laughter and happiness.

"But now it's full of evil clowns" - What little kid isn't scared of scary clowns? The clowns symbolise something happy and fun going bad, so maybe their feelings goings sour, although the relationship still stands.

The rest of the chorus is quite blatant in meaning.

I think the whole song is basically about how the house reminds her of all the fun she had with her ex, and she hates all the memories, hence why she wants to destroy the house. The memories are like the ghost of the past, so "We'll try to exorcise this place" is her trying to forget.

Or, at least, that's what I believe. ;P

i think this song is about drug addiction.

"this used to be a fun house"-taking drugs used to be fun

"but now it's full of evil clowns" -there is no pleasure now, she has to use them to survive

"i've called the movers, called the maids" -she's tried to get help, but it didn't work

i enterperate the countdown as the time coming out of the high

    yeah, just a thought,

"My key don't fit my life no more"

This line is wrong. It should be

"My keys don't fit my lock no more"

And I don't like how people think every song is related to "drug use" I am pretty sure the songwrites got bored of writing about drug use long ago..

    I agree with TheOthers.

I think of it more of a relationship that is well "full of evil clowns". Though I could see how it could be... kinda drug related. But this song speaks to me on a relationship basis, an ex at that (though current relationships work too)

It seems really explanatory. I mean it turns from 'funhouse' to 'full of evil clowns'. We all had a part in our old/current relationship(s) where we thought of it as good times and it just turns bad. Like the relationship is an illusion. When we have fun, we don't look at all the dangers and at hind sight that's when you can see what things are really like. It's that REALIZATION, that it's not what it was.

"Echoes knocking on locked doors All the laughter from before I'd rather live out on the street Than in this haunted memory"

It ends up being a bad memory.

The only thing like I don't like this song is that she's burning the memories. We should rather learn from the experience than just burn it away. Or wanting to forget it, but we all have those songs for every feeling and situation that we can think of and this is just a song LOL.

    That's my two cents. But

its obviously about your partner moving out and leaving you alone in the place that you once shared together. and if that has ever happened to you than you should know how much it truly suuuuuuuuucks.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
