I know (I know)
You belong to somebody new
But Tonight you belong to me
Although (although) we're apart
You're a part of my heart
And tonight you belong to me

Way down by the stream
How sweet it will seem
Once more just to dream
In the moonlight

My honey I know (I know)
With the dawn that you will be gone
But tonight you belong to me

Way down, way down along the stream
How very, very sweet it will seem
Once more just to dream
In the silvery moonlight

My honey, I know (I know)
With the dawn that you will be gone
But tonight you belong to me
Just to little old me

    My Interpretation

I think this song's about a woman who is in love with someone else's man. I think she's mostly fantasizing about being with the guy; I don't think she's made attempts to start an affair with him. They seem to only be together in her dreams (from "tonight you belong to me" to "I know with the dawn that you will be gone". It's like he's her lover in her dreams at night, but in real life he's with someone else.

It's a sad, but simple love song about a girl pining after a guy she dreams of being with. She likes him, but can't actually act on those feelings in real life because he's with someone else.

I think it's basically a defense of the human race's sexuality almost in a sense. The singer is talking to somebody who's already with someone else, but for that night, they're one. This is the representation of what seems to be cheating. But while people associate cheating with being spiteful and trying to hurt the other, it's really just something uncontrollable. This is a very pleasant moment that the two characters of the song are sharing. It's cheating, but it's not meant to hurt anyone. It just sort of happened. People are people. They get horny. There isn't much control over the reptilian brain. Anyone agree?

I never thought about realism in this song. and I still can't see a realistic (negative) background for this song. It's about a person you have lost and you lvoe. You still dream about her/him, but when you wake up you immediately return to reality and she/he is gone. But as long as you sleep, you can say "tonight you'll belong to me" (until yo uwake up). Sweet dreams, though

For some reason, I’ve always thought this song was about a mother sending her little one off to adoption just a weird opinion I've had for years.

I have a weird theory, it’s so creepy , but while I was listening to this song it came to me that this might be a dead person whose loved one moved on after their death and got with someone else, but the song is about this loved one dying and uniting again with their dead old lover ,why she says “just little old me” at the end, tonight when you die and be gone you will belong to me again. I know that this is most likely not the case and it’s most likely about someone dreaming of being with someone else , but I think my theory fits the creepy vibe of the song better

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
