Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
Love my girl
She lookin' good, come on, one more
Five to one, baby
One in five
No one here gets out alive, now
You get yours, baby
I'll get mine
Gonna make it, baby
If we try
The old get old
And the young get stronger
May take a week
And it may take longer
They got the guns
Well, but we got the numbers
Gonna win, yeah
We're takin' over
Come on!
Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawing near
Shadows of the evening
Crawl across the years
Yeah, walk across the floor with a
Flower in your hand
Trying to tell me no one understands
Trade in your hours for a handful of dimes
Gonna' make it, baby, in our prime
Come together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, gotta, get together
(Get together one more time)
(Get together one more time)
Hey, come on, honey
You go on along home and wait for me, baby
I'll be there in just a little while
You see, I gotta go out in this car
With these people and
(Get together one more time)
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Take you up into my room and
(Get together one more time)
Love my girl
She lookin' good, lookin' real good
Love ya, come on
She lookin' good, come on, one more
Five to one, baby
One in five
No one here gets out alive, now
You get yours, baby
I'll get mine

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
what you guys are saying about the war is absolutely correct. at the time that this song came out, there was great opposition to the vietnam war.
"five to one" is a reference to the ratio between the younger more progressive thinking "hippies" (5) compared to the (1) politicians, lawmakers, police, government... what have you. "they've got the guns but, we got the numbers" i think he's trying to say that they might have the power, but there are more of us, we can change things if we really want to.
the last part of the song "Your ballroom days are over, baby.Night is drawing near.Shadows of the eveningCrawl across the years. You walk across the floor With a flower in your hand. Trying to tell me no one understands Trade in your hours for a handful dimes Gonna make it, baby, in our prime." he's talking about the hippies growing up, and becoming complacant, turn in your hours for a handful of dimes... giving up the free spirited ways, and becoming a working consumer class of society. "gonna make it in our prime"
i have to say Jim Morrisson is a brilliant poet.
@srammij I think he often has a double meaning. He constantly seems to warn women of himself being a bad boy and, in fact, most men are at least capable of having 5 times the strength of women when you include power and control in the equation... back then.
Jim was an amazing person. I aspire to be like him everyday and try my hardest but he was so damn.. Jim.
Why the fuck dosent anyone give props to The Doors?!?!?!?!?! they are one of the first great American bands, Jim Morrison is also one of the top ten lyric writers of all time. People need to quit talking about "hidden messages" in songs and recognize the great ones like The Doors
AIM= Dissecti0nal88
also give recognition to the guitarist for writing some of the songs
this message is directed souly for SgtLurch who said...."i agree that jim had his moments and i do like the doors but i dont agree with anyone who says hes the greatest song writer ever. hes a druged out rock star end of story. yeh he had some good songs but come on.. best song writer ever?" first of all, Jim Morrison didnt walk around bragging about being the best song writer ever. He did what he wanted, and people either loved it or hated it. Secondly, I challenge you to name 5 artists that could write better lyrics. You're probably the kind of gu that thinks John Mayer is the best song writer ever. His lyrics were poetry and he was a very smart and educated man. He wasnt just a drugged out rock star, he wasnt aiming to be a rock star. He wanted more than that, he wanted the world as an audience. If you dont understand the Doors then go elsewhere to voice your very nieve opinion. I fuckin hate when people think that the Doors were just a gimmik. The Doors music is true art, a sort of modern day Shakespear.
@Morrison fan he was absolutely revolutionary, to this day in my opinion, he is the most timeless poet that has stood the test of time. It would be a real struggle to name just a few as great a lyricist, showman, and poet that is on the same tier as him. Just outstanding. The Doors went out on a high that's still rolling to this day.
also, jim wasn't really a hippie. hippies appreciated life and had a different view of the war. Jim was opposite. not an exact quote, but jim said that life is painful, when you die the pain ends. Hippies aren't like that.
Yea, he pretty much loathed the whole hippie movement. He obviously viewed himself as a darker, more sinister prophet, necessary to counteract all the peace & love people. It's like the difference between Martin Luther King (non-confrontational) as opposed to to Malcolm X.
I swear to god this song rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought 5 to 1 were the odds of dieing in Vietnam, and 1 in 5 were the probability people smoke weed.
this song is good to get your groove on, maybe working it doggy style with those comanding drums. Such sexual driving music. Anyone agree?
you can't really make sense of any of the doors songs, morrison was more of a poet, and just like any good poetry it's meant to be interpreted as you see it. I don't know about the whole Vietnam thing, I think the line "no one here gets out alive" is just saying that no one gets out of life alive, it's a pretty sick line if you think about it.
Dude think about it 5 to 1. If one person to every five lives, out of four people none will live. How many people were in the doors? yeah thats right. I think it is also about rebelling against the government, they got the guns, we got the numbers. There are a million meanings though
