Lyrics for Money as interpreted by Demau Senae

Money Lyrics
Money, get away
get a good job with more pay and you're O.K.
money, it's a gas
grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
new car, caviar, four star daydream
think I'll buy me a football team

Money, get back
I'm alright, Jack, keep your hands off my stack
money, it's a hit
don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the hi-fidelity first class travelling set
and I think I need a Lear jet

Money, it's a crime
share it fairlybut don't take a slice of my pie
money, so they say
is the root of all evil today
but if you ask for a rise it's no surprise that they're
giving none away, away, away

Sax is good, buddy! :-)
There is a guitar solo which follows anyway, same tune almost, and followed by background vocals for the very same tune! Hail Roger!

seeing as how he's BRITISH i'd think soccer...

no artist would write for the american audience, ESPECIALLY artists as PF.

Though with fitting to the whole desires for money, could it be possible that PF was talking about americans in general? I mean, america IS the most money hungry country in the world, or i should say the society is. Could PF actually be diggin on american culture? This is just a theory. ANy thoughts?

The song sounds happy enough yeah, but listen to it in context with the rest of the album. It's about how having an excess of money will change you, make you greedy and selfish.

Just one more thing that can drive a man insane, Money.

the first time i listened the album,i felt like this song does not belong there, though it's a great song.
and about the song itself,i believe it's tryin to show how greedy the world has become, something like a PF contribution on the worlds conceousnes in the case of materialism, getting bigger day by day...

its a good song, the obviousness of this song couldnt be any clearer then a virus. The sax dont bother me none. and my favorite line, which is my sn for msn right now is "Money, so they say, is the root of all evil today"

Hey, the sax is good. Goes well in the song. Not like that sax solo in My Lovely Horse.

anyway I like the line

'money, it's a hit'

comparing it to a drug. Seems appropriate, as we can't seem to get enough of it, and our wholes live often seem devoted to obtaining more.

What you fail to overlook is this song is about money. Are soccer teams owned like football teams are in America? That is what will determine which he is referring to.

I think the beauty of this song is that by both it's lyrics and it's music it portrays the way money rules our society... The lyrics, for obvious reasons and the music for two reasons - one is that just like Muzzy said the song sounds happy, just like money is an illusion of happiness with one's life and another reason is how the last part resembles the begining, showing the vicious cycle that is our obsession with money.

oh and I, for one, absolutely love the sax here.

I'd say it's about the world's obsession with money, nobody wants to part with money, not even for charity.

And the sax is a good instrument, in fact the best non-brass wind instrument. And the solo in the song, though moderately long, is very good.

Have to give the sax its dues, three sax players got me hooked on Floyd.

Ok, for anyone who hates that sax solo, I'll let you know if it weren't for that sax solo, there would be no buildup to the 4/4 section. The sax is an awesome instrument, and that solo is perfect for this song. And I always thought that when he said football, he was talking about what us Americans call soccer. After all isn't soccer the big sport overseas? I would expect those teams to be owned like football teams in America.

The guitar solo is flawless and the sax solo is excellent too, but you cant forget the 7/8 time bass line.
