Cold, late night so long ago
When I was not so strong you know
A pretty man came to me
I never seen eyes so blue
You know, I could not run away it seemed
We'd seen each other in a dream
Seemed like he knew me, he looked right through me, yeah

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, I'm a magic man"

Winter nights we sang in tune
Played inside the months of moon
"Never think of never let this spell last forever"
Well, summer lover passed to fall
Tried to realize it all
Mama says she's worried, growing up in a hurry

"Come on home, girl" Mama cried on the phone
"Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home"
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, he's a magic man, Mama, ah
He's a magic man

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child"
But try to understand, try to understand
Oh, oh, try, try, try to understand
He's a magic man, oh, he's got the magic hands

Oh's over top

"Come on home, girl" he said with a smile
"You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile"
But try to understand, try to understand
Try, try, try to understand, he's a magic man, yeah, oh

    My Opinion

Alright, in case it isn't clear: this is an amazing, beautiful song written by one of the greatest ever rock bands in their early prime. This song refers to the beginning of lead singer Ann Wilson's relationship with the guy who would become Heart's manager and engineer, etc., Mike Fisher (former guitarist and brother of guitarist Roger Fisher, who was later in a relationship with guitarist and sister Nancy Wilson). It is a better-than-perfect poetic hard rock song written for the band's first album, when they were loved but unknown, gigging in Vancouver, BC, before they had made it big.

Now, with that out of the way, I have one more thing to say:

Please, please, please: Anyone here who has written about 'Charles Manson', or Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, if you're reading this, please, please, please stop what you're doing right now at this very moment, and do only one thing for me: Get all of your conspiracy theory friends together, go to Stonehenge in robes, and drink that potent concoction that you've been saving in your cupboard that delivers you into your next life, and far away from those of us who enjoy life, enjoy good music, and learning about true artists. Once again: Please, please, please kill yourself. Like the guy at the end of Road Trip. That way you won't run around muddying up the world with your useless, confusing, arbitrary, unsettling, ridiculous, defamatory and insulting garbage, in the process doing your best to ruin beautiful songs and the stories behind them for the rest of us.

    Thank you.

In a TV interview the group did they were asked how this song came about. Nancy Wilson said it was from a time in her life when she was young and impressionable and very hippy. She was living with a man in the mountains in a hippy fashion, "washing clothes by hand and hanging them in the wind to dry". And so everything seemed very magical and earthy to her then. Now she looks back and thinks "who was that person". That's what she said anyway.

I saw an interview with Ann Wilson and she said it was about her relationship with the guy that she ran off to Canada and lived with because he needed to avoid the draft and Viet Nam. Her mother was literally on the phone telling her to come home, that it was too soon to lose her baby. Her mother was also interviewed admitting that she probably did say that to Ann. Also the references to "Never seen eyes so blue" were about that same guy -- he did have some incredible eyes, they showed his picture. She said he had cast a magic spell on her so she had to go with him and they were soulmates, etc. I think her sister Nancy was involved with the guy's brother and they kind of lived this hippie lifestyle up in the wilderness in Canada.

Ann Wilson did NOT have a relationship with a Dennis Wilson. The Charles Manson rumor is UNTRUE.

i love this song, but hearing how people come up with songs kind of ruins them for me, so i'm gonna go on thinking this song is about that guy you meet that is just so wrong for you but you still can't seem to let go of him, i.e. that bad boy that kind of sucks you in with those killer eyes and all the right lines. (in other words i will disavow all knowledge of some hippie dude hanging his undergarments up on a clothesline in canada, but thanks for the behind the story, people) :)

This sounds like a typical "girl-comes-of-age" story, with psycho-sexual-mystical (how very Victorian) overtones.

This song played a big part in a book I read. The main character Phil put this song on repeat when he invited a girl into his home, and she thought it was creepy. Then he cut himself shaving and accidently bled in her drink and then accidently told her he was dating his mother. Irrelevent isn't it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
