Love LOVE this band so much..The lyrics.melodies/themes...god the instruments and arrangements are just amazing...It's Rock but yet it's so much more than that...You feel like you're in a church, You feel like sex, you feel like sin and salvation...It's sounds weird i know, but i just can't describe just how much these songs from this band speak to me..I've heard nothing like them. This song is very dark and sexy to me...Sometimes when you love someone so much, You love the pain they bring you too...I suppose there's obsession/addiction in some loves, But yeah it feels like to me the couple aren't necessarily healthy for each other but the pleasure comes with the pain which makes the relationship worth it. "Touched, You say that I am too, So much, Of what you say is true" "I'll never find someone quite like you, Again, I'll never find someone quite like you, Like You" "Touched" to me is not just possibly messed up in in the head, but also marked by the other as theirs..You carve out your little space for just the two of you when you love...There's that space that's exclusive to only the two that are living that love. When you get involved with someone, You end up sharing a part of them..If they're troubled you get caught up in it and if that love is the all consuming sort well you won't walk away from that, You'll watch the other and their issues and somehow they'll end up touching you with their madness...You might even like it cause they're giving you what you covet...Them. "The razors and the dying roses, Plead I don't leave you alone, The demi-gods and hungry ghosts, God, god knows I'm not at home" This sounds like co-dependency/destruction/madness to me - If you walk away from that person/relationship could you cause them to spiral further? What about you? If you stay are you just losing yourself in the madness of this love/obsession between you? What if the one you love are a danger to themselves(cutting/suicidal/depressed) When does it get to the point when you need to leave for your own sanity at least? "I looked into your eyes and Saw a world that does not exist, I looked into your eyes and, Saw a world I wish I was in," You tell yourself that you maybe can see their madness, Maybe you want to be a part of it too, It would bring you closer to them and you could understand and share their burden..It seems like the person is trying to relate to their love. "I'll never find someone quite as touched as you I'll never love someone quite the way that I loved you." Oh this is ominous i feel. Maybe death has come or death in the sense that this person just had enough and walked away. But they make it clear they will never love again the way their love made them love. So...yeah..This sounds like an unhealthy obsessive relationship where the couple are caught in a destructive loop and eventually something has to snap. |

I think this song is about the singer looking back on a relationship that has just ended...Obviously it's still raw for him, He's in the 'insecure' stage of the breakup. The part where you ask yourself was it real Did you mean as much to that person as they did to you? It's the place where you question everything Did they love me?, Did i give more?, Did i come on too strong?, etc etc. He's grieving the end of it, and i agree with the above poster, He's very David Bowie-esque in his voice here. |

such a beautiful poetic song...It's one of my favorites...There's such a magic to it..It really makes you think about your life. The way that i see this song is that it's about experience and what someone gets from it..It's like you can have a stellar education..Get all the diploma's/degrees but yet someone who didn't somehow gets something from their life that no amount of money or education can. You could soak up all the knowledge in the world..Visit all the different cultures..Learn all the different religions but that someone doesn't need to do that..They just connect with the universe on a level that you never could..Call it insight/heart/spirituality/the soul but it just comes easy to them. This could also be a beautiful love song cause the singer is in awe of this person, and when you love someone the sun shines from them from your perspective. |

This guy absolutely nails classic depression in a way i haven't ever seen before..This song really explains that 'buried under a heavy weight' feeling that most kinds of depression afflicts on sufferers...You actually feel that you can break the surface of those waves of emptiness/apathy..It's right there if you just try..But you can't..And you can't explain why either..This song is painful but there's a morbid beauty in it. "Breeze still carries the sound Maybe I'll disappear Tracks will fade in the snow You won't find me here" I take this to mean that the person wants to fade away..They don't want to be noticed or any kind of remnant/memory in the world they don't want a part of anymore. "Ice is starting to form Ending what had begun I am locked in my head With what I've done I know you tried to rescue me Didn't let anyone get in Left with a trace of all that was And all that could have been" There's a numbness to depression and the mind becomes a bleak prison of everything negative..Insecurities/self loathing/apathy/low self esteem all swirling around, and you can't escape them and maybe even like it in a 'twisted' way cause it's the only place you feel you deserve..There's a sick comfort there. The people that don't exist in or can't understand your world are knocking and asking you to let them in so they can help you..You know that maybe if you did things would get better..Love/comfort/connection and all that, But it's like you're slightly out of phase with them...A ghost in the world. You know you're killing something good..Something 'real' with your actions..You can see the 'ice forming' the relationship slipping away but you just don't have the capacity to care.. The feelings are there somewhere, but they are muted and dull, and like i said before, like trying to break the surface of water...It's just within your reach but you can't or won't reach for it. "Please Take this And run far away Far away from me I am Tainted The two of us Were never meant to be All these Pieces And promises and left behinds If only I could see In my Nothing You meant everything Everything to me" You know that what you're feeling is not healthy and so wrong...So you wouldn't wanna afflict it on your nearest and dearest. But there's a part of you that wants to stay in that bleak bubble..It's your safety net..Where you feel that no matter how detrimental that place is to your psyche...You belong..You can just stay there in a holding 'denial' pattern. So you close yourself off and push for both them and yourself..Self sabotage..Kill that connection cause you hate yourself so why would they like you..Can't they see that you're not worth it. You're also afraid that somehow they'll see the 'real' you..The you that your twisted perceptions have put in place...There's a shame and discomfort in that. You can't let them so you clam up and retreat. And there is also a part of you that knows you still care somewhere or have those memories when you were able to...You somehow convince yourself that they can catch the same thing like a cold, and when you love and care for someone you only want happiness for them, but with depression all you feel you can give them is pain/grief/misery..So you close that door on them cause you convince yourself that once they get away they'll see you weren't worth it after all, and that will reinforce those 'bad' thoughts about yourself and somehow you can get some kind of sad comfort in 'being right'..You are worthless but at least you know that right? "Gone.. fading.. Everything.. And.. All that.. Could have been.. All that could have been." You have those happier memories when you weren't broken so 'all that could have been' is there and still maybe can be..But you're drawn to the darkness. everything is slipping further away from you..Going deeper into that 'apathetic' state of mind...Being submerged under those waves..There's only one way now and that's down..In a way you sort of welcome it..It's a relief to lose yourself and just fall. And then he repeats the chorus again to the end..That constant slow building repetition mirroring that round and round never ending negativeness..You keep telling yourself the same things over and over as if somehow they'll make sense..You know you're lying to yourself and running from what's right in front of you 'You're sick and you need help' but the 'enemy' is calling you and it's damn attractive cause maybe you'll find your way out in that direction 'possible suicide' |

I think it's about not wanting to fit into 'neat' little boxes in society...Going against the social norms..Doing your own thing on your own time. But also as a band they could be saying that they're not gonna do what's expected of them in a 'Mainstream' way...They won't be bought so they can just be another Rat in the Rat Race. |

I heard that this song was written about the 'cliché' of 'Soulmate' love inspired by a Psychiatrist that believed 2 of his patients were meant to be. So there's kind of a mocking tone to this song IMO by the lyricist..I don't think he believes in that fairytale. Personally I do, I can't help wanting/needing that one that completes you and i have that faith that he/she is out there thinking the same. "The sea's evaporating Though it comes as no surprise These clouds we're seeing They're explosions in the sky It seems it's written But we can't read between the line" These lovers and their relationship is not perfect in the least and being together is hurting them..Love is never perfect no matter how 'meant' you think you are for each other..We all carry the 'marks' of life with us everywhere we go..Life is bipolar..It gives you just as much pleasure as it does pain, but there's a sad growth in that...No matter how much these 2 need each other, sometimes it's not the right time for love. Maybe it's 'their' end. It's a beautiful song..I'm so attracted to this band's music cause they paint love exactly for what it is, Messy/Destructive/Painful..The 'real' relationship is in those kinds of moments where we see each others weaknesses and insecurities..That's the true test IMO |

This is a metaphor for a destructive relationship...There are actually more lyrics that were cut from the song that were auctioned off....He's pissed at the woman/media and lashing out saying the relationship is like Morphine (mind numbing) At this time MJ was going through a lot of shit and it comes out in his songs. When the piano kicks in you can hear his mockery at the media over reacting to everything he does and turning it to something it's not(lies) but you can also hear his hidden pain and it never fails to make me cry for the utter tragedy of his death. |

This is one of my favorite songs on the progress album....Even though it's an electro number...It's surprisingly emotional...The album as a whole is a masked concept from ape to Man, but when you take that mask off and dig a little deeper...The true concept is really about 'progressing' from Immature to Mature in the case of the boys....How they step away from the bitterness and hurt from the past, and 'progress' towards 5 men who forgive each other for all the mistakes of the past, and finally reach that point of acceptance and Love for one another, and make a new beginning on their terms. So as you can imagine a lot of the lyrics relate to the Band, and you can hear the regrets and pain in some of the songs, and they show that vulnerability to us the audience which endears them more to us, cause we can relate with our own mistakes/failures. Listening to the album is amazing...As each track plays you can feel the wounds of the past healing with the poignant 'The Flood' and then the frenetic pace of 'SOS'...Moving on to the regret of 'Wait' and then the turbulent/fighting spirit of 'Kidz' and so forth, and all ending in the heartfelt 'Eight Letters'...You hear their relationship break down and fester, and then rebuild itself again through the music... They're so incredibly talented, and the ones who can't see it need to Wake the hell up cause they're missing out on the most refreshing and enduring Band in recent years that will eventually sit nicely alongside 'The Beatles' with their own legacy. Back to the song...Breaking it down...some of it is gibberish to throw the listener off kilter and give that paranoid sense to the album like SOS...But then it opens up Into one of their most beautiful melodies/choruses...and when they all sing in unison with their 'magical' Harmonies...It's full of regret and hits you right in the heart with stunning strings. The most important part of the song is not the 'Cannibals'...'Subliminal' bit...It's underneath what they're really saying: "(Oh no!) Turning into cannibals and everything that she wants is made out of minerals I don't know what I done she only speaks in subliminals The reception here is lousy and the service is minimal" Talking about how there was a lack of real communication in the early days of TT...Just 5 lads having a laugh and not really dealing with the bigger issues...Being caught in a strangle hold by their manager/label...Just existing for the band, and every man was really for himself. "(Oh no!) I live with an Eskimo I (Swallowed!) cause we become mechanical and (Hollow!) I seem to make you miserable so take your tiny chemicals cause I need a miracle" again talking about how it was difficult having no freedom for themselves...'Eskimo' meaning cold feelings wise, and how alone the boys felt with their own problems, and not being able to confide in each other for fear of affecting the band, or being rejected from the only life they knew....So they just behave 'Mechanical' like Robots....Dancing/singing/smiling/laughing for others. "Free your soul to me) Meet me on the corner cause the wall's on fire (Words can set us free) Can you make it go away make it stop! Stop!" looking back and wishing that they could approach each other on that level and unload...Just talk to me as a friend and not a band member....Just prove that you actually give a damn and i don't just make up the numbers...Validate me...'words can set us free' meaning Communication is key to a good relationship... and when that fails or doesn't exist, you just want to make it all Stop and Run away....The pressure..the misery...the pretending...You want it all to end. "Wait! There's something that I want to say Something that we hid away Something that I'd like to change These words have never left a mouth We never got to get it out Communication not allowed Somethings we don't talk about" The regret of not saying this to each other...Wanting to change...realizing what they lost when TT was no more...Thinking they've moved on but really leaving a part of themselves with the band and needing that closure especially in Rob's case, and how he never really let go. "(On no!) I've fallen off a pedestal and your selected memory is really quite incredible to (Morrow!) When you get forgettable I'll try being wonderful yet totally inedible" Anger towards each other for past faults and not taking responsibility or seeing it at the time...Trying to pretend they're fine but holding grudges towards each other that just build as time goes on. The verses are steeped in the past...The immature them....with the anger and the blame and Rob's grittier vocals...but the Intro to the chorus and the Chorus itself is the mature them singing in softer unison and wishing it had of been different, and looking back with that regret. |

Gary said he wrote it when he was realizing that Take That was coming to an end...It's about their journey from beginning to end as a band, and not taking what they had for granted and accepting that 'Someday this will all be someone else's dream'....It resonates with anyone who gets it...It could also be 'your' journey cause it recalls the change from youth into adulthood, and having to move forward in life. |

This song is such a dance classic...It's a 'Taveres' cover that the Band did...But what i love about TT is that they only released 4 covers in the bands history, but for each cover that they released...They were able to make the cover their own, but at the same time not take away from the original... I love how they added a banging synth lick to the song...It's pop, but at the same time Dance/Euro and so Fun/bouncy/refreshing for your typical 'Boyband'...and when you hear it you just wanna jump around like a teenager no matter what your age.... like many of their songs, even when the guys broke up these songs never went away, and were able to last the test of time...Unlike other generic 'Boybands'....TT will leave behind an excellent Back Catalog, and a well deserved music legacy <33 |

This is Robbie's best song IMHO...It's so relatable cause it's brutally honest and bitter, and true to life....He wrote it about Take That, and especially Gary after leaving the band....He wrote it as a form of therapy and a way to put the past to bed...But even though his lyrics say otherwise...He never really got over the regret, hence the obsessive taunts/Behavior towards the band and Gary in particular down through the years. "Tell me a story where we all change And we'd live our lives together And not estranged I didn't lose my mind it was mine to give away Couldn't stay to watch me cry, you didn't have the time So I softly slip away." He's talking about how maybe if things didn't end up the way they did...Maybe they'd still be inseparable...In another life....He's on the defensive cause of where he is emotionally at this point in his life...At this point It was "I hate Gary/Band...I'm better than them...They're such losers...It's all their fault."...So by saying "it was mine to give away" He's basically saying that he was in control of his destination even if it was his depressive/drinking/drugs side that was actually in control...He's convinced that it was him...He's also talking about how he was depressed/lost and the band didn't have the time for him so he left before they left him. "No regrets, they don't work No regrets now, they only hurt Sing me a love song, drop me a line Suppose it's just a point of view But they tell me I'm doing fine" basically saying...."I'm moving on...It's not healthy to live in the past"...but at the same time bitterly saying to Gary "Sing me a love song...Drop me a line"(Gary and his voice/Gary tried to get in contact in 2003)...Also saying "it's just someones opinion that I'm fine...Look at me I'm so successful and adored...I could only be at my happiest...but I'm not"...At his biggest he was miserable/depressed/lonely, hooked on drink and drugs. "I know from the outside we looked good for each other Felt things were going wrong when you didn't like my mother I don't want to hate but that's all you've left me with A bitter aftertaste and a fantasy of how we all could live" From the audience/media view, the band were a happy smiley family...But Rob wanted to contribute more...He wanted more freedom, but Nigel(manager) kept him down, and sapped his confidence, and when he was sad...The boys weren't really there for him cause they didn't know how to be...They were young/immature, and even though they got on great with each other....They couldn't talk about their problems with each other, and if Rob had problems it would affect the band, and put the band in jeopardy, so it was like "just get on with it"....The 'mother' line is loosely meant as his behavior/ideas/input....Last 2 lines are directed at Gary....He looked up to Gary in Take That so when it all fell apart it was Blame Gary time, which he never got over hence him slandering Gary everywhere he went...He was hurting cause he cared about Gary, and he felt it wasn't reciprocated. "No regrets, they don't work No regrets now, they only hurt (We've been told you stay up late) I know they're still talking (You're far too short to carry weight) The demons in your head (Return the videos they're late) If i could just stop hating you (Goodbye) I feel sorry for us instead" Same as before but this time with backing harmonies...I think there's a double meaning here "told you stay up late" could mean...The band were told what to do...even when to sleep, but also could mean that Robbie himself is full of guilt/regret that he just can't sleep/insomnia...."know they're still talking" could mean that the media will never let them rest...What Robbie said is out there forever..What the band did can never be taken back..Also the 4 are a family again, but Robbie's left out in the cold which hurts him. The weight line is directed at Both himself, but especially Gary...Gary gained weight and fell into depression after the Robbie/Media hate destroyed his solo career, but also Robbie was under pressure by Nigel to stay skinny in the band to the extent that he would sometimes starve himself....The demons bit is probably Robbie's own demons, as well as Robbie calling out the bands guilt for not being there for him when he needed them most...."return the videos..they're late" is talking about Take That and their music videos.....Last 2 lines directed at Gary again....He's bitter towards him, and wishes he wasn't cause they all lost emotionally, not just Robbie. "Remember the photographs (insane) The ones where we all laugh (so lame) We were having the time of our lives Well thank you it was a real blast" The time in the band...They all had the time of their lives and loved it and each other...A bunch of lads messing around with the world at their feet, but of course he's bitter, now it's just lame and an embarrassment....Last line is so bitter :(( "No regrets, they don't work No regrets now, they only hurt (We've been told you stay up late) Write me a love song, drop me a line (You're far too short to carry weight) Suppose it's just a point of view (Return the videos they're late) But they tell me I'm doing fine" Only change of lyric here is "Write" instead of "sing" again referring to Gary and his lyrics that he wrote for the band. "Everything I wanted to be, every time I walked away Every time you told me "Leave" I just wanted to stay Every time you looked at me and every time you smiled I felt so vacant you treat me like a child I loved the way we used to laugh I loved the way we used to smile Often I sit down and think of you for a while Then it passes me by and I think of someone else instead I guess the love we once had is officially Dead." This is mostly directed at Gary/Nigel...The band but especially Jason/Gary Ganged up on Rob, and told him to get his act together for their tour...They gave him a choice, but he's still bitter here, so he sees it as being kicked out of the band, even though he left cause he wanted to be in oasis LOL but yeah it's really self explanatory...They were like brothers...They loved each other, but were too young to really be there emotionally...Rob was the youngest/baby of the band...He was the most impressionable of them all(today the band feel guilt that they didn't look out for him more and recognize the signs of his self destruction....Like the drinking alone and the drugs/OD) and he wanted credibility in the band, but didn't wanna work for it....He'd turn up late/drunk for rehearsals, at times had to be forced to record lyrics and choreography...He was a pain in the ass, but in a dark place emotionally...Of course Nigel was a control freak, and had a stranglehold on the band, and Gary didn't dare cross him which Rob probably saw as betrayal....So Rob thinks about those times...The fun and laughter, and most of all the 'brotherhood' they had together..He misses it for moments, but then moves on...Cause the love they once had is officially 'DEAD'. Yeah, so great song but he never got over the split which was really sad...Even though he's singing "no regrets"...He's full of them...It's like drunk dialing an ex....except this song is on record forever:D Good news is, he's now reconciled with his friends...He's in a better place, and he has the 'brotherhood' he always missed...The lyrics now go "i guess the love we had is officially alive"...It's a very sad story, with a happy ending played out in lyrics(the only time they could be truthful towards each other) When Rob was at deaths door from drink and drugs Gary/Mark wrote 'Shine' for him...He wrote 'Ghosts' about Gary...and it all comes full circle with Gaz/Rob's "Shame"....their 'progress' album, and "Rocket ship" "Don't say goodbye" and "eight letters". |

Hi All :D I'm gonna take a crack at this song's meaning....I honestly believe it has nothing to do with drugs except to compare Love to a 'High'....And no matter how hard i try, i can't hear 'Grave' so i maintain it's 'Grey'. I think this song is about an obsessive love for someone to the point of being very 'unhealthy' for the singer. 'There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea You became the light on the dark side of me Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill' This is very romantic....like how, when you're madly in love you can wax lyrically and poetically about someone....The singer is the 'greying tower alone on the sea'....This person's love is the 'light' that shines on him, and brings him out of the dark....The love/infatuation he has for this person is all consuming, and he compares it to an 'addiction' like one with drugs.....By comparing her to a 'drug high' he's saying She makes him feel good, and he wants/needs her even if she's not healthy for him. 'But did you know That when it snows My eyes become large and The light that you shine can be seen' Again it's Romantic..I find the lyrics are dreamy/surreal...almost like a 'fairy tale' and he's the loner in the high tower and love finds him.....Well....When you're attracted to someone your pupils dilate.....So he wants her and he describes a gloomy but romantic setting that she makes better for him with her light/Love. 'Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey Ooh, the more I get of you the stranger it feels, yeah Now that your rose is in bloom A light hits the gloom on the grey' This part is very telling to me and explains the whole song....It's a play on words....When we think of Rose contrasted with Grey...Well.....the Rose jumps out at you with it's vibrancy and colour and beauty whereas the Grey remains mute and depressing and darker than ever...Now compare the man and his love....His life/grey is lifeless and depressing...He's just existing...His love/rose is full of life and light and beauty...She wakes him up and brings his gloomy depressing world to life...but Roses carry thorns which is basically saying that Love isn't easy but so worth it... 'There is so much a man can tell you So much he can say You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain' He's telling her what she means to him and what her love means to him....She has the power to make him her slave...give him the best high and cut him deep. I love how Seal uses the Rose as a 'metaphor' for love....It's perfect, and shows how Love is beautiful but carries pain, and describes how you can get caught up the beauty of the Rose/Love but it can hurt you/bring heartache. This song is just beautiful to listen too....Just wondering, does anyone else feel utterly sad listening to this? When i hear this song...I cry....not full blown bawling, but kinda a lump in my throat, and then as the song progresses my eyes become wetter and wetter, and i have a kinda pit in my stomach...It's weird...This is the only song that does this to me the way I'm describing :)) As for the songs meaning...IMO - i think it's describing the destruction of mankind and the end of the world and how when it all falls apart....The only thing left that's worth hanging on to is Love....and you can lose everything or it can be taken from you by War/disaster/death, but Love never will be....It will be there right till the end and maybe beyond...Very spiritual and poetic :)) "Death may come, invisible Or in a holy wall of fire In the breath between the markers On some black I-80 mile From the madness of the governments To the vengeance of the sea Everything is eclipsed By the shape of destiny" Basically talking about how Death can come outta nowhere for us....whether it's a fire...a car accident or simply just our time's up....How religion causes wars, and governments strike at each other, and we're expected to follow along....Basically, anything that could destroy us as a species is implied in the above lyrics....We have fire...car accidents...Wars...Natural disasters(flooding/Tsunamis) and how in a spiritual way....It's our final destination....We kill each other, or something kills us....Our inevitable destiny. Hell is here" again...just like before...when it all ends all he needs is the support of his loved one...to feel not alone...they're in hell together...makes hell less hellish. "Do you see the sterile soil Poisoned sky, yellow water The final scraps of life Bringing new tears" how the dying world looks and the sadness/pain/guilt looking upon it and knowing we could of prevented it. Such a beautiful pure song.....The title says it all 'Imagine' just imagine what the song is implying for a moment...It's wonderful but so scary and impossible to think. We all need to believe that there is something better when we die...something more meaningful and pure...It's what keeps most of us Sane....To think of no heaven means to never see your loved ones again...I can't possibly do that TBH...I will see my Mom again...I have to :(( It's wonderful to Imagine this but it's Mans unique quality to be flawed...We'd inevitably ruin this peaceful paradise...Theres always someone who wants more. Religion wouldn't be needed but what then? This song is so stunning....It's definitely in my top 5 favorite songs in the history of ever....Once you listen to this....I'm sorry, but theres no way you'll ever forget it. This song was written for 'City of Angels' about an 'Angel' who Falls in Love with a 'Human' and struggles with giving it all up to be with her...This describes 'Seth's' feelings perfectly. You have Lyrics like: "And I'd give up forever to touch you Because I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now" Angels can touch humans but there's no sensation for them...There's times in the movie where 'Seth' touches 'Maggie' and kisses her, but he can't feel that sensation...This causes longing/confusion and for her emotional pain....He's fallen in love with her...now theres something more important than being an 'angel' and loving only 'god'...He wants to be able to 'feel' her...She's now in place of 'heaven' for him, and he wants more. "And I don't want the world to see me Because I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am" 'Seth' can show himself to 'humans' if he chooses to, but He's something that they can't comprehend, and he can't really understand them on an 'emotional' level cause he doesn't have their 'humanity' but regardless of 'Maggie' being human....He desperately wants her to know him. I think this song is about struggling with your faith in that 'higher power'...How you live your life the way you do but there's always that part of you that has Jesus/God on standby for your moments of despair and heartache, and how you struggle to reconcile your guilt over that selfishness. I love this song so much...It's so 'Anthemic'...Tell me who out there doesn't do the 'Shout Shout...Let it all out' with their hands in the air and the passion in their voice? :D IMO - i think this song is a 'shout' to the world to Stand up and do something....Fight for what you believe in...In an ideal world, people would come together in a non violent way with this kind of Passion in their souls. Rallying the people into action. I find this song so meaningful.....I personally think it's about being unsure about yourself in Love, and being afraid you are going to pass your destiny/soulmate by, and not realize until it's too late :(( "You're my distant destination of choice I'd give anything Just to hear your voice" I think he's lonely cause he wants to meet his 'distant destination'/future Love now...He wants to hear that persons voice....There's a 'yearning' for this person that he hasn't met yet. I think this song is so gorgeous...It's so heartfelt and passionate <33 I think this song is about 'Bono' feeling 'torn' between his 2 loves....His family, and his Music, and how they 'conflict'' with one another, but he's not willing to let either go. "See the stone set in your eyes See the thorn twist in your side I wait for you Sleight of hand and twist of fate On a bed of nails she makes me wait And I wait without you" Talking about how at times 'one' is upset because of the 'other'...'Family' are angry cause he's away from them...He feels the 'music' is cause he's not devoted to it like he wants to be...He's only one man, so one has to suffer at the expense of the other....He's wrote the song about '2 lovers' but in this case his 'music' is one of them. "Sleight of hand and twist of faith" means that things happen that he can't see, and he just has to go with the flow......as a result, he suffers over his '2 loves' with the "Bed of nails" and 'pining' for one when he has the other. I interpret this song to be about 'facets' of your personality/soul.....You have the good/Bad the positive/negative....The loving/hateful. This song is written so beautifully with so much sweet sentiment.....I think it's about the End of a Relationship between 2 people and the insecurity, confusion and jealousy that comes with it. This is my 'FAV' 'FAV' 'FAV' song in the world......I love the guitar riff...It's soooo cool.....there's an even cooler version, if thats even possible....You should listen to the 'live version' the band did...I think in 'Melbourne'.....It brings this already amazing song to an even higher level.....I'm not sure about all the musical instruments, but i think the band use a 'spanish guitar' and mix it with the acoustic and electric....and the intro is longer......Seriously i have both on my ipod....It's so hard to choose between them <33 As for the meaning of the song....I think it's a 'metaphor' for the 'decadence, heady, high life' that many bands/artists experienced in the 1970's in California....Ya know.....the sex/drugs/rocknroll and the 'pitfalls' of making it in that decade.....But of course you can take it literally if you want to, and take the song for what you hear....That's cool too <33 |

I think she's canadian...i'm not sure, but i love her music....it reminds me of Ireland and the past....prob cause i'm Irish....Her music is beautiful....it takes you to another time and place. I think she's telling a fable...It's a fantasy...a story....lovers are parting....one is not from this world....It's dramatic/profound/beautiful....I love it. |

I like this song...It's very catchy. Hmmm.....i'm not sure....but to me...it sounds like the song is about our world/war....Us as a nation. "Black fingernails, Red wine" well i see this as a metaphor for dirtying yourself with greed/selfishness and whatever else goes into the bad decisions we make as a nation.....getting your hands dirtied/sullied because of our decisions, and as a result the 'consequences' of those decisions.....'Red wine' sounds an awful lot like blood to me and bloodshed. 'There�s a culture, everywhere Smoke clouds, hang in the air So loud, cant hear you talk You can lie Or take a walk downtown (Woah Oh)' sounds like the destruction caused by wars....bombs/explosions, and you can bury your head in the sand and pretend you can't see it, or look for yourself. 'the argument over all continues (in this house) all of us stand and point our fingers (to the ground) all of us stand and point our fingers' this doesn't mention God anymore....basically saying we tear each other/the world apart over everything and blame each other for it. IMO - The whole song is talking about how our greed/selfishness/ego/need for power corrupts us, causes wars/conflict, and as a result is destroying our world. |

I LOVE this band soooo much....their song's are so damn catchy :D I think the guy isn't happy with himself....he wants a change.....he wants a fresh start. 'I see it around me I see it in everything I could be so much more than this' disillusioned with life....wants something more. 'I said my goodbyes this is my sundown I'm gonna be so much more than this' letting go of the old him....'sundown' meaning the end of one chapter and the start of a new one....cause with 'sundown' comes 'sunrise'.....the start of a new day/life. 'With one hand high you'll show them your progress you'll take your time but no one cares' he'll make it, but thinks that nobody will be interested....he sounds lonely to me, and lacking in self esteem. 'I need you to show me the way from crazy I wanna be so much more than this' could be talking to anyone from God to a lover....he wants help/courage....he's clearly afraid to take this scary step. 'no one cares x3 (I could be so much more than this) no one cares (I wanna be so much more than this) no one cares (I could be so much more than this) no one cares (I wanna be so much more than this) no one cares (I wanna be so much more than this) no one cares x2 (I wanna be so much more than this)' this constant repeating sounds like he's stuck between confidence and fear in himself....def lacking in self esteem.
