Danzig – Twist of Cain Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Once you realize an uncredited James Hetfield sang back up on this (and Possession from the same album) you'll start to hear him during the chorus. It's a good feeling. |
CKY – Hellions on Parade Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The interesting thing to me is that this song is from the perspective of the 96, as opposed to the earlier songs being being about possible survivors. |
The Supremes – My World Is Empty Without You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
she's gone. and your life is done. perfect song. for the final insanity. |
The Motels – Suddenly Last Summer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
to me it's obvious. she's way into someone. let's assume it's a guy. she's been into him a long time. and it finally happens. only once. then they are separated for whatever reason. the bulk of the song is jumping between her past desire for him and her future memory of being with him. point being, it was a powerful moment for her and she can't forget. |
The Motels – Suddenly Last Summer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It happened one summer It happened one time It happened forever For a short time A place for a moment An end to a dream Forever I loved you Forever it seemed One summer never ends One summer never began It keeps me standing still It takes all my will And then suddenly Last summer Sometimes I never leave But sometimes I would Sometimes I stay too long Sometimes I would Sometimes it frightens me Sometimes it would Sometimes I'm all alone And wish that I could One summer never ends One summer never begins It keeps me standing still It takes all my will And then suddenly Last summer And then suddenly Last summer One summer never ends One summer never begins It keeps me standing still It takes all my will And then suddenly Last summer And then suddenly Last summer Until suddenly Last summer And then suddenly Last summer Until suddenly Last summer It happened suddenly Last summer |
Electric Six – Devil Nights Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Electric Six – Waste Of Time And Money Lyrics | 13 years ago |
fixing the words: Once I saw the galaxies in your Jack and Coke eyes And the sacrificial temple where your monster always dies Once I wrote a gospel out of every word you say And now you're on the front page of the USA Today Cutting to the front of the line I find my mind Is no place to raise a family And I was looking all over for you baby You were always right in front of me And tonight I'm declaring your love To be a waste of time and money Once you raised alpacas with your pet komodo dragon While I was eating cardboard in my father's station wagon Once I sold everything I owned to buy you a diamond ring And now you're over at CNN sitting down with Larry King After five bottles of wine my friends opine That I should consider therapy But they've clearly never been with you baby They don't know about the things that you've done to me And tonight I declare that my life Is a joke no longer funny All publicity is good publicity When you sell your conscience in this city Thick skins mean high elasticity Shock resistant with electricity All publicity is good publicity (All comes back to where we started) When you sell your conscience in this city (Opposites but never parted) Thick skins mean high elasticity (Flowers for the brokenhearted) Shock resistant with electricity (Take us back to where we started) All publicity is good publicity (Opposites we never parted) When you sell your conscience in this city (Take this back to where we started) |
Electric Six – Self Destruct Lyrics | 13 years ago |
obviously the demo version of Rubber Rocket. |
Electric Six – Rubber Rocket Lyrics | 13 years ago |
valentine finds an awesome girl that eats him alive. this song is the fallout. having been there, this could be their best song. |
Electric Six – The Band In Hell Lyrics | 13 years ago |
what two words appear the most in this song? "i'm sorry" there you go. |
Electric Six – Bite Me Lyrics | 13 years ago |
think of the two verses as the worst pick up lines ever. makes an already incredible song even more entertaining. |
Electric Six – Dance Commander Lyrics | 13 years ago |
love the subtle explosion at the end of the second chorus. |
Electric Six – Dance Commander Lyrics | 13 years ago |
just a party song, but damn, if it isn't the best. |
Electric Six – Dance Commander Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the line is "you must obey the dance commander" |
Noisettes – Never Forget You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i think the comments here speak for them self. i dig this tune because of the feel, to me it's a like a garage rock motown thing. love it. |
Ween – Squelch The Weasel Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song contains the most haunting, lonely guitar solo in existence. utter guitar simplicity. dirty channel, wah, that's it. it's all feeling. it is a perfect element in a perfect Ween song. listening with an engineer's ear this song is a joy. all the tiny flaws i can pick out only make it better, like the slight hesitations in the acoustic guitar double tracking. as for the lyrical content, it barely matters to me, Gener's delivery is gold. |
Ween – I'll Be Your Jonny on the Spot Lyrics | 13 years ago |
always loved this one, ZZ Top plus high-tension country. the term Jonny On the Spot means to me, someone who will be there. for whoever. so it's sort of saying this simple country boy will be there for, whoever. for her, i like to think. the portapotty reference fits nicely. awesome song to blast with the windows down driving too fast. |
Brett Dennen – Who do you Think You Are? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
it's "meetings". nothing else makes sense. and he says "coffee". what is the alternative, "carpet"? one thing that bothers me about the song is the word "sewer". because it reads wrong, but i suspect it's his way of saying "tailor". point being it's a very literal song. and the meaning is the same, equality. it doesn't matter who you are or what you do, we are all the same. |
Billy Joel – Tell Her About It Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this song proves that Billy Joel is a true bro. |
Foreigner – Jukebox Hero Lyrics | 14 years ago |
you nailed it and you corrected the lyrics to boot. my hat is off to you. |
Rob Zombie – Sick Bubblegum Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i see the idea behind this as obvious, if hard to put into words. something sweet and enjoyable that makes you sick. expand and apply to everything else... btw this album is genius. |
Erasure – Always Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i can't think of a better soundtrack to an exploding unicorn. |
Disturbed – Inside the Fire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
more than that, it's about torturing yourself. because what is the devil but self torture? and over a girl. this song was made for me. |
Disturbed – Inside the Fire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i remember when this was a new single my local radio played a disclaimer recorded by draiman warning about suicide. i was awed. you disclaim a song about suicide and devil? wtf? that is what i love about this track. besides the badass music, suicide and the devil? fuck yes. anything written from the devil's point of view, written honestly like is, is an instant classic. |
Fu Manchu – Written in Stone Lyrics | 14 years ago |
first off this an instant classic for me. long time Fu fan. the words are super vague and i really relate it to my life right now. it's about living your life just for you. accepting advice but in the end it's just you. that and this has perhaps the most badass guitar tone ever. |
Grand Funk Railroad – We're An American Band Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i love this song because it's so sleazy and dirty yet so clean. it's really a song where you have to read between the lines. |
A Flock of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
it's a confusing song because the tone is optimistic yet the lyrics aren't. i agree with some and think it's about fear of love and the opposite sex. moreso, it's about built up ideas in one's own head and finding that right chick and it being too much. so basically, it's about fucking yourself. no wonder i love it. |
Rick James – Super Freak Lyrics | 14 years ago |
meaning is obvious. rather the song, production is incredible. perfect is the word. same for the writing. it is what it is, and he pulled it off, duh. instant 81' classic. infinitely listenable. if you're on the prowl or getting laid you can't get wrong with this one. |
Rick James – Super Freak Lyrics | 14 years ago |
exactly, it's rather insulting |
David Cook – Light On Lyrics | 14 years ago |
the album this was on was released in 08 his brother died in 09 do the math |
Sixpence None the Richer – Breathe Your Name Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i used to think this was about a car crash, and she's leaving it all up to god as to the outcome. i say that knowing the christian thing. the more i hear it and read the lyrics, it seems to be pure christian banality. ugh. i still love the song but i am always allergic to organized religion. |
Rob Zombie – Demon Speeding Lyrics | 14 years ago |
obviously it's inspired by the John Carpenter movie In the Mouth of Madness, which is in turn inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. |
Jucifer – Flight Song Lyrics | 14 years ago |
the title is "Fight Song". and the song is amazing. |
Electric Frankenstein – Teenage Shutdown Lyrics | 14 years ago |
loved this song ever since i heard it on a NY comp back in the mid-90's. btw, lyrics are incomplete. Pressure here and pressure there/ you tell another lie People touch and people stare/ you tell the world goodbye This is an ecstatic scene/ cant get enough of it Legal system makes you scream/ you never try to fit Violence just for violence's sake/ but do you really care Violence was your first mistake/ and will you ever dare People come and people go/ you gotta make it stick No one ever really knows/ the system makes you sick Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down People on the run around/ ain't got a fucking clue Never see me on the ground/I don't get through to you Promises I never keep/ you know it's no surprise Now I'm in it far too deep/ and you just hide your eyes Everybody gives it up/ you dont know how to stop You never get another shot/ and I'm the one on top People learning how to cry/ it's just another fad People learning how to die/ and that's what makes me mad Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down So now you take another lesson/ but will you ever learn? Now I've got another weapon/I leave you here to burn Teenage is what teenage does/ you don't know what to do Teenage ain't what teenage was/ I'm coming after you Try to tell me what to do/ But I don't hear at all The system's falling down on you/you gotta take the fall People get a little close/ that's when I run and hide It's life that l depend on most/ It's just to save my pride Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Pressure here and pressure there/ under the gun again People touch and people stare/ they tie you up again Someone has a better plan/ you don't know what to do Someone is the bigger man/ so they got rid of you Teenage Shutdown. One big let down Teenage Shutdown. One big let down |
KISS – Deuce Lyrics | 15 years ago |
hmm i always assumed the word deuce in the context of the song meant "second chance". |
Alice Cooper – The Great American Success Story Lyrics | 15 years ago |
rumored to have been a possible theme song for the 1986 Rodney Dangerfield film "Back to School". |
The Atomic Bitchwax – Hey Alright Lyrics | 15 years ago |
words could be fixed a bit... this is the ultimate "thanks for trading me in" song. instant classic for me. |
Melvins – The Ballad Of Dwight Fry Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Both this and "Second Coming" on Lysol are covers of two Alice Cooper songs from his 1971 album Love It to Death. |
Guster – Satellite Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song makes me envision a car ride shortly after falling in love. big city, someone is driving you home, it's quiet, and all you can think of is that amazing girl that you might of just fallen for. maybe it's just me, but i have experienced this before. |
Jackson Browne – Somebody's Baby Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is the perfect song for when you're in the supermarket and you see the girl you have a hopeless crush on...and she's with her boyfriend. And then you start to think, what about all the times I was out with some other beautiful girl? Was there some lonely guy looking at us and hearing this song? Really makes you think. |
The Grass Roots – Midnight Confessions Lyrics | 16 years ago |
obvious what it's about. i've always felt this is one of the best songs about unrequited love. |
Creed – One Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is easily defined by a simple, old saying: "divide and conquer". Unite and prosper. Divide and fail. You don't need any holy spirit to understand that. |
Joe Jackson – One More Time Lyrics | 16 years ago |
incredible song. i'm embarrassed that i first heard it on a taco bell commercial, but, that's the truth. heard it and i was instantly hooked. |
Joe Jackson – Got The Time Lyrics | 16 years ago |
been listening to a lot of Joe Jackson lately, and i realized this song sounded familiar...because i'd heard the Anthrax cover years back. anyways, classic song. |
Mudvayne – Fall Into Sleep Lyrics | 16 years ago |
fall into sleep = death face it, it's about the nightmare of dying alone. |
Donna Summer – Hot Stuff Lyrics | 16 years ago |
evidently those that have been commenting can't read, nor listen...it's about context, people. that said, this is another in a series of disco songs about a woman wanting to get fucked. seems to me it's a disco phenomenon. |
Denis Leary – Asshole Lyrics | 16 years ago |
absolute genius. this and spinal tap are what it's all about. comedians making real music. the shit rocks. |
David Bowie – Suffragette City Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i've loved this song since i was a kid. no comment on the words, i have no idea, it just rocks. however, i have a feeling this was somewhat of an influence on queens of the stone age. |
Puddle of Mudd – Away From Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's about the moment between suspecting and knowing that your lover has been cheating. |
Alice Cooper – Billion Dollar Babies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
an absolute classic. gives me the same vibe as watching a classic horror movie. that's the best feeling... plus guest vocals by Donovan. |
