Tim Fite – Forty-Five Remedies Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This song definitely seems to be about stealing pills from people. |
Man Man – Mayan Nights Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the 3rd line: they raise(raze?) the landscape, i'll raise a toast, all wasted in strange arms |
Bon Iver – Perth Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I'd say these are the official lyrics, as Vernon typed them up himself. If he saw fit to put in some errors to throw people off, that would be his prerogative but I'm not gonna try and correct this. In most cases the official lyrics sound more correct than what I heard in the songs before reading them. As for meaning: One thing I noticed in the beginning stanza of the song is that the two words "fide" and "fane" look like abbreviations. Of course, fane could be spelled other ways for other meanings (fain or feign). But "confide" and "profane" sort of fit in the contexts. And another thing: this interpretation puts an extra emphasis on the parts that are taken out, "con" and "pro", which would add their own meaning. Just some random musing. |
Man Man – Life Fantastic Lyrics | 13 years ago |
krug, wasn't aware that was a phrase, i had considered that strongly as the lyric. thanks! |
Man Man – Spooky Jookie Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Seems to be about a woman succumbing to drug addiction and other poor life choices. |
Man Man – Steak Knives Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Literally? :P |
Man Man – Shameless Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"And I spent too many days Drowning in the shallows Of the mess of a man that I've made And the nest of mistakes that I have delayed" "Hey, moon Who do you call When you tryin' to chase the bad mood off Hey, now What do you do When you can't shake the (???) blues" "Most of all I hate the way that I miss your sigh More than a blind man would miss his own eyes" "Oh my, oh no How can I be so shameless? It's 'cause I've learned that need deceives And you are what I want." |
Bon Iver – Holocene Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the last chorus "and at once i knew i was not magnificent. HIGH above the highway end." the first chorus: "shake it, bake it..." the other two choruses "shake it, fake it..." |
Man Man – Knuckle Down Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Here's my corrections. I used both the studio version and multiple live versions to correlate. This is close to 100%. ******** all my branches break when you go and tell me your body can't take lots of bein' lonely I'm racing through the dark a headless Saint Bernard to cauterize the scars(stars?) that line your dirty heart what the hell can I do when you whisper "punish me"? snap me like a tiger trap I lost all my honey I'm bracing for the shiver string me in your quiver aim me for the skyline but shoot me in the river and terror quits me when you palpitate confess directly sadness spreads your legs I contemplate the toll turning diamonds into coal traveling down this hole throwing conscience to the wind that's blues, it's not a path that I ever thought I would traffic to get you back our panic will burst like birds full of aspirin we're not to blame it's the same as it was never before, so I'm not a scoundrel It's just a suit that fits me cut ties and breeze nights maintains insanity never thought I'd be like a hunger with no appetite a hunter with no urge for thrills a time for now, despise so I ask the devil how to learn to handle woman with a shovel digging downward spirals She tells me what to do and how to strut my cool and polish up my boots with all your lovers blood it's cursed, it's not a road that I ever thought I would traffic to get you back our panic will burst like birds full of aspirin we're not to blame it's the same as it was never before, so and I roam the trenches, barely just what I need hate you more than anything 'cause you're everything to me, so you met your match, don't even know it yet challenges ain't challenge when a needle's got your edge this time, it's not a hole that I ever thought I would traffic to get you back our panic will burst like birds full of aspirin we are to blame it's the same is it was never before, so - ************** What a kickass song. |
Jon Brion – Over Our Heads Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"Over our heads" has a double meaning for me. I'm not a religious person but it seems to me he could be saying that something everlasting is both beyond our understanding, and also referring to a god as being over our heads. Amazing writing. |
Gorillaz – Some Kind Of Nature Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Well near the plastics And digital foils" should be "Well me, I like plastics And digital foils" |
Man Man – The Ballad of Butter Beans Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"[till you romp down I'm goin to hell you ride as shine ride you gone]" should be (i think) [till you romp down I'm goin to hell you're ridin' shotgun] Also, "Cause I'm gonna freeze out life blood [from that black heart]" should definitely be "Cause I'm gonna free that black blood from that black heart" |
Man Man – Push the Eagles Stomach Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I also think it's "The carney's not my son" As well as "Don't beat around the black jack night Don't want to shave my moustache right Don't want to see my head in light Don't wanna be the sunset" |
Tom Waits – Two Sisters Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Fixed the lyrics. morbid morag: For your name to say "morbid", you sure seem shocked by this song. Many old sea chanties and songs of this nature were grisly. Try reading some old fairy tales, you'll understand. The folk tales of past eras sometimes reflect just how grisly things in real life could be. Also, the girl is in a sea - it never specifies an ocean, it could be more like a very large lake - and I guess she comes to a river, where there is presumably a waterwheel or other water-powered mill. The mill dam is just that - a dam in the river, where the miller fishes Kate out. |
Man Man – Skin Tension Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Oh, and what an incredible love song, at that. |

Man Man – Man Who Make You Sick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Actually, I'm going to remove that part. I don't think they're singing that at all. It could very well be gibberish. |
Man Man – Man Who Make You Sick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Made some corrections, thanks so much tickface. These seem essentially complete, and I think they're mostly correct too. I'm still not sure if they're singing "Who are you?" at the end. |
The Knife – Neon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
A saxophone is a kind of horn. I understand that it's a woodwind, but it fits the definition of horn. |
Man Man – Black Mission Goggles Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, it's referencing coke. Notice the sniffing sound in the background the first time he says it (seriously). SNAAAAAAAAARF |
Man Man – Big Trouble Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The blood and the love? He's definitely saying mud and blood. Memories may be right, but he always pronounces it like mammaries. |
Man Man – White Rice, Brown Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
My personal interpretation is probably totally different from what it was written about.... But even so, it probably doesn't hurt that when they play it live, he sings YOU'VE GOT ME RAGING LIKE A HARD-ON. not to mention the lyrics make fuck like dog bark moon make fuck like dog bark WOOP WOOP. I love this song beyond belief. It is feral. |
Man Man – Big Trouble Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I finally figured out some parts I was missing. what I've got now feels like it's right. Check out that last bit. That's brilliant wordplay if I ever saw it. |
Man Man – Easy Eats Or Dirty Doctor Galapagos Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Thanks, I corrected them. Those seem to be very close if not 100%. |
The Knife – Neon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's "Neon when you come on home" The horns blow me the hell away. |
Man Man – Man Who Make You Sick Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Man Man – Gold Teeth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"why-y-y-y-y-y-y? That is the way we do Gun shot and left in the desert to die." It's just a though |
Man Man – Van Helsing Boombox Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Synergistic: A much easier way to play this (without detuning your guitar) is to capo on the third fret, and then play C, E7, Am, E7. Thought that might help :) When anything that's anything becomes nothing that's everything, and nothing is the only thing ya ever seem to have........ |
Man Man – Top Drawer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
You wonder whether 'true love waits' cuz the breeder in your bed don't butter your bread. |
Tom Waits – The Fall of Troy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Tom said on a radio show before playing the song: "This is a song I wrote with my wife, Kathleen Brennan. This was a news article, about two kids that, uh, were involved in a shooting, and they were young kids. That was in New Orleans." |
Man Man – Easy Eats Or Dirty Doctor Galapagos Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I did my best, let me know if you have corrections. |
Moby – Find My Baby Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Man Man – Doo Right Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's "What happened to all those days". |
Man Man – White Rice, Brown Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sex. |
Harry Nilsson – Early In The Morning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What a truly, truly awesome song. His voice. Ohhh. |
CocoRosie – Werewolf Lyrics | 16 years ago |
jynx904......... This song could totally, seriously be about Michael Jackson. I never thought of that. Really, the last verse doesn't account for that so much, though. Interesting idea, though. |
Gnarls Barkley – Run (I'm a Natural Disaster) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is boss to the max. |
Beach House – Gila Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Man, you got a lot of jokes to tell So you throw your baby’s banners down the well Give a little more than you like Pick apart the past, you’re not going back Don’t you waste your time No, oh, oh, oh Gila-a Gila-a-a-a-a Gila-a-a-a Sure, you’ve got a handle on the past It’s why you keep your little lovers in your lap Give a little more than you like Pick apart the past, you’re not going back So don’t you waste your time No, oh, oh, oh Gila-a Gila-a-a-a-a Gila-a-a-a Hoping for the last ship to arrive I’ve been blessed with a kingdom, half-mine Gila-a Gila-a-a-a-a Gila-a Gila-a-a-a-a Gila-a-a-a-a Gila-a-a |
Fionn Regan – Blackwater Child Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love this song, and where it comes in after Hey Rabbit. |
Pedro the Lion – Bad Things to Such Good People Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I see less Biblical allegory than most of these interpretations. I just see a pretty straightforward song about a man visiting his brother's funeral on leave from jail. His parents are weeping and calling out to God for their 'one good son' 's death. The brother sees how it's more of a tragedy to them since he is in prison and they are not proud of him. It's a devastating song. The "All the while" part is just showing the despair of the moment. |
The Knife – One Hit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have a different interpretation of the last line... It's making a point that the family that the male dominator wants is one more akin to a mob "family" than to an actual traditional family............ |
Tom Waits – Two Sisters Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I accidentally omitted the first few stanzas, and for some reason the edit button is not visible to me. I'll see if I can get admin to fix it for me..... |
The Sound of Music – My Favorite Things Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You make a good point, Mayor Menley....... Not to mention, that in the musical, it's sung during a summer storm. |
Xiu Xiu – Bunny Gamer (B) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
that is incredible, medicine..... irrelevant but incredible. the look in that man's eyes are that of someone struggling desparately to comprehend something while simultaneously falling asleep. |
Battles – Atlas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
anyone notice that your arguing over lyrics on this very page has made its way to the Boston Globe? http://www.boston.com/ae/music/articles/2007/07/15/battles_moves_up_from_the_underground/ funny how stuff like that works...... |
CocoRosie – Sunshine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Nobody comments on this song? This is one of the only songs on Ghosthorse that I found completely palatable. It's really hauntingly simple. I love the vocal melody. It's really exceptional. |

America – Ventura Highway Lyrics | 17 years ago |
blibstodge, it wasn't a cover of the song, it was just a song by Janet Jackson that used a sample of the guitar riff in this song. |
