Dredg – The Thought of Losing You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Sadly, I can't really disagree. Then again, I feel like they've been sliding down a slippery slope since CWOA, so I'm not really shocked. |
Glassjaw – Natural Born Farmer Lyrics | 13 years ago |
STUDIO VERSION: You claim acceptance for the time before And you wait for all of us to offer up to get down She leaves impression where the vows are torn And fixes a rich ??? of the head to the ??? CHORUS: She gets around With vomit on the frown She's making the rounds With vomit on the frown And I'm forced to fight like I'm a Natural born farmer She gets around With vomit on the frown And I... You take direction from the girl next door And she waits for all of us to put the fences up to keep the tension down You pay repentance for the time before When you wait for all of us to offer it up to get down CHORUS CHORUS |
Alice in Chains – Your Decision Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I'll fix anything that needs fixing as soon as the album hits the shelves... |
Porcupine Tree – Kneel and Disconnect Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This actually is the full song. |
Ashes Divide – The Stone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
In the chorus, I think it's "we CAN'T change." This would tie in with "let it fade/let it go," as well as "flowers never breaking through the stone," which both indicate hopelessness and impossibility. To me, the song appears to be about accepting who you after a long period of pretending to be something else. Anyway, I have to agree with Spog: the song is great and catchy, but a tad bland. I don't think Billy's vox are to blame, though. It's just a very simple chord progression, standard heavy guitars, and a lack of interesting time signatures or anything of the sort that was sometimes featured in APC. Still, this is far more enjoyable than most of what's on rock radio these days, if only because Billy's voice and lyrics set it apart from the utter bore of Seether or Puddle of Mudd. |
Porcupine Tree – Normal Lyrics | 16 years ago |
phydeaux420: Good catch on the chorus lyrics, fixed it. I can't make out the background vocals at the end either, so I didn't bother putting them in - figuring we'll have to wait for an official lyric sheet. Sounds like "you gotta see the ?? wine bottle ?? the waves now" to me, but who knows. Anyhow, I see this as a reworked or alternate version of "Sentimental." Not only the identical chorus, but the melody of the verses are quite reminiscent of one another as well. This is quite speculative, but I wonder if maybe this is an older incarnation of "Sentimental," a song which perhaps got its name from the lyrics of this version (interestingly, the word "sentimental" never appears in the album version). I prefer this over the album version, though, primarily for the "wish I was old" bit at the end with the Floydian vocal harmonies. Very direct lyrics, so not much to discuss in terms of the "meaning." |
Oceansize – Massive Bereavement Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is one of the more depressing tunes I've heard. The music is beyond merely sorrowful; it's haunting, desparate, and surreal. Love the phrase "still running for a bus that we missed years ago." |
The Flaming Lips – Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
According to Wayne, loosely based on a dream of his and in reference to a suicide bomber. |
Foo Fighters – DOA Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I may well be overanalyzing, but after listening to the lyrics carefully a few times my take is that this involves a murder-suicide following a failed romance. Also, this song IMO is a great exception to the bland-ness that comprises much of the first disc of IYH. |
Dredg – Planting Seeds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
According to Gavin via the band's PureVolume page, "On ‘Planting Seeds,’ one of the verses is from one person’s perspective and then the second verse is from the other person’s perspective; the chorus is the resolution of those two outlooks.” This song was formerly known as "C-shells" back in late 2003 when dredg first played it live; both verses had the same lyrics then (basically a modification of the lyrics for the first verse of this final version). I can't decide whether this or "Jamais Vu" is the best track on Catch Without Arms. Stunning song both musically and lyrically. |
Dredg – Jamais Vu Lyrics | 19 years ago |
One of the best songs I've heard in my life -- simply surreal. In the final studio version on Catch Without Arms, the lyric in the final verse is clearly heard as "displeased with what I found" (not "was pleased"). |
