Tegan and Sara – Knife Going In Lyrics 15 years ago
Oh boy, how disappointed was I to find the lyric "I thought it'd happen fast" _isn't_ "I farted - I confess" as I had always hoped.

Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males – Babysitters of the World Unite! Lyrics 17 years ago
I saw Dan Kelly and the Alpha Males on Saturday night (awesome concert by the way) and before they played this song, Dan Kelly said it was "just a song about breaking-up".

The Fire Theft – Houses Lyrics 18 years ago
Wow I had trouble trying to make sense of this song, as beautiful as it is. But I agree with Tack-o-Rama now I've re-read over it.

This songs reminds me of myself. I often get in the habit of imagining a perfect life/relationship for myself instead of actually living and trying to accomplish it.

"Never mind the world
When I’m laying by the pool "

Love those lyrics. Warm fuzzy feeling all over. :)

David Gray – Say Hello Wave Goodbye Lyrics 19 years ago
Well just from reading the lyrics... it sounds like the persona is in love with a prostitute..

"someone who's not going cheap in the sales"

"Under the deep red lights" - a reference to the red-light district perhaps?

"We tried to make it work...You're used to wearing less" - perhaps she tried to go clean to make things work out with the persona - but ultimately failed.

Actually, the more I read it, the more it looks that way. I guess it could just be a metaphor for being in love with someone, but it just doesn't ultimately work out because you're too different from one another.

Kind of like that fatal-flaw that seems to split relationships apart.

If you think about it like that.. then the song is quite sad, as the persona ultimately gives up on his love.. and settles for the "steady life"

Just my interpretation.

Minus the Bear – Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo Lyrics 19 years ago
Yeah, I agree - this song is one of my favourites. But to give meaning to it would be impossible. On the face of it, it is someone just trying to get someone to just "give up", and take drugs to get to sleep. And of course it may go way deeper than that. But what I like about this song besides the obvious, is that I have made my own meaning of this song, (intentional of Minus the Bear or not.) Will I share it with the rest of the class? No.
I'm not brave enough.

P.S No. I don't hear the "not" either.

Guster – Airport Song Lyrics 19 years ago
It could be about all these new-fangled religions, (such as the popularised kabbalah for example.) No offense intended. It could be an ironic comment on how each one considers themselves the 'right' religion. "You'll be better off this way" seems to be the catch-phrase that sucks people into these religions/cults. It also refers to how these religions/cults brainwash their followers ("where i'll plant my seed".) The final line could just be symbolising that even if you've followed this religion - maybe even be promised 1000 wives in heaven (for example) - that it is still just a commercial fad.

Okay, I've rambled on. I apologise. It is waaaaayyy past my bedtime.
P.S This might be 100% off the mark, and I realise this - so lay off the replies saying "oooohhh man, you got that sooooooooo wrong", because all I can do is agree with you.

Thirsty Merc – Someday, Someday Lyrics 19 years ago
Well I think that the verses really are self-explanatory. Actually: so is the song. I can't really look into this any deeper, because I probably wouldn't find anything. A nice, simple song - not a big fan of the repetition of "babe" in the chorus. "I will be the one babe" - sounds a bit sleazy.

Oh alright, I'll shut up.
