It is about telling someone to dwelling on negativity / seeing through a veil (because it will happen no matter your perception) and just cherish what you really have. |

I'd like to know what 'Sin Skinner' really means.
At first thoughts it might be someone who takes all the blame, all the 'sin' away. Essentially a scapegoat or person there to help - "Let me be your friend, I'm here to heal the sand." and "I'd like to understand, let me hold your hand." - a companion who is truly there for them, to deal with all their problems?
Perhaps ultimately this was not enough - "It is your life they took" and "Don't tell the world good-bye!".
"Keep my integrity intact" although counteracts this idea, as your intergrity will no doubt be lost if you are blamed for another's problems. |

In my opinion, the song talks about how the consequences of past mistakes (maybe something to do with a relationship as described in the last verse) have accumulated to change the present, and now they've lost so much. |

The guitar work and choir really make this song.
As for the meaning, my interpretation is that there is a "Mind Maelstrom" - a whirling storm, if you will, within your head, possibly mental illness and/or confusion. Due to this, the person enters 'darkness' - depression takes over and the will to life is lost.
This sort of concept is popular in many of Sirenia's songs. |

Blessed with sin could mean ill judgement being placed on you from religious groups, but in this context I would imagine being "Blessed with Sin" is having the drug (sin) in your veins, and being happy for it (blessed). |
