By listening to this song and paying attention to the lyrical content, I think the point that TFF was trying to express was that we live in cycles. The mundane events that we repeat becaue they are familiar to us. Sometimes our spirits urge us to follow them, but we decline because it's not normal. "And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had" To me, this expresses the irony of life. When we actually face death is when we appreciate it the most. I think this song has become to trendy. Which is some-what ironic since trends follow cycles. Developing you own ideas and manifesting them can bring forth uniqueness. Maybe that is something we should all challenge ourselves with. Also, Evergreen Terrace did a cover of this song. I think their intensity truly expresses the meaning of this song. Not a hear me scream theme; but more of a "Wake up, people!" feeling about it. But that is just me. |

| Oh, the things we feel when the one we love just doesn't know what to do. They make rash dicisions and do not think about how those dicisions will effect other people. The presence of this person can make us feel accepted and loved. But when that person leaves us for reasons that seem trivial, it tears us apart. If we only knew that love would hurt so so bad... Sometimes I wonder if I knew what would happen before I jumpped into it, would I still have done it. Yes, and I guessing that Scooter would to. The things we think of when we are all alone. "What I want and what I need are two different things." I feel that the song is a song to one's self. Just a little reminder of what you can trust and who you can't. People will break you, but music can sooth those pains. People leave and go away, but music is forever. It not really that I care about the world, I would just like them to know what I feel. Maybe someone feels the same. |

To me: A dream of life, and how it should be. People ponder and worry their minds about when the world is going to end. Will it be tommorow or today? Who cares? We have lost focus of what life is. It isn't about what we own or who we are friends with. Life is about this moment, who we are inside and out, what we share with each other. I feel that Maynard paints a clear picture of how society has become a monster. We lost the whole meaning of life. We have become obssesed with money, sex, and power. Not about love for each other, the ability to understand someone else, to share the pain someone feels, to care about what we do. The morality has been lost and it's time we brought it back. I believe Maynard just used L.A. as an example. The whole U.S. is like it. The world is like it. To me the sweetest taste is the one of revival. A new and fresh start. It's like when you wash you face when you wake up. Cool and soothing. It hurts to see the insainty, to hear people hate so much. To know what people feel. And personally, seeing all this hate and lack of compassion make some want to have faith in something more powerful than us. Because that is what it would take to make things right again. Put aside our petty wants, and feel for a change. Money, drugs, meaningless sex, it is all false realities. Something to hold you in one place. Think outside the box. Think outside of your body and trust in your spirit. Allow your soul to join with others and celebrate life. But many don't see it, they just want to be laid, intoxicated, famous, and rich. Money is a object, not a person. Why love it. Why put aside you awareness to feel helpless? Why share yourself with someone you don't care about? Why waste your life worring about what people think of you, and not focus on what you think about you. Be who you are, your better that way. Seems like it does need to be washed away. He said it best, "Don't just call me pessimist Try and read between the lines!" |

| That or it could possibly be relating to death by suicide. The deep depression that some of us feel. That when the walls come down and we are left alone, there are only 2 options: end it now, or find hope and place faith in overcoming our insecurities. "Pain is an illusion", I know that statement has kept me here in this world. The thought of that statement gives me the strength to go through one more day. I remember that all that is physical, is ill-logical. It is only a destraction. I must stay focused on what my life is about. In the song right before this one on Tool's album Maynard asks, "Is this a Test? It has to be. Otherwise I can't go on." To me that is what I feel when I hear it. It is the feeling of hope and inspiration, a chance to go on. But that's me. Things have different meaning for different people. | |
