Who would've thought that one day Supergrass might create one of the best songs of any year? St. Petersburg is my favorite track from arguably the best supergrass album to date. The song is about the desire of leaving one's tedious meaningless life and heading for a better one. But this desire can be nothing more than a dream or a wish that we assure ourselves it will happen someday in order to overcome hardships and the sense of loss. The piognancy of the song lies in the fact that such a dream might never come true and we know that but we can't really let go because without it, our neverending quest of finding salvation will be doomed. |

This is probably my favorite Radiohead song ever.For some reason that i honestly don't know, i find myslef crying everytime the "Bruises that won't heal" line comes up.Musically,the structure of the song is so simple and that's perhaps why its impact is deep.The meaning of the song is obvious, a man who's had nothing but dissapoinments in his life.He finds no meaning in his life and the pain is too big for him to handle.When the line "This is my final fit,my final bellyache" comes up, you don't know whether to feel sad for him because he's dying or relief as he's finally getting rid of his pain.The brilliance of the song is how it uses very few words to draw a picture of the anguish and pain lived by many people in the modren world. |

To me, this song is about someone who's haunted by his past or childhood.These memories and experiences turned him bad and he can't really let go of these memories no matter how hard he tries.I first heared this song in Radiohead's concert for the French program Music Planet (i'm not sure whether this is the correct name of teh program or not). Thom and Johnny Greenwood were the only ones playing from the band in one of the best and most moving acuoustic concerts i've ever seen. It was the first time for them i believe to play this song in the format released in Com Lag and i simply moved to tears from the beauty of this song. |

Th music kinda mixes The Beatles' Because and John lennon's I want You. Thom said that this song is what it feels like to almost have a total nervous breakdown. That actually makes a lot of sense since the song is collection of different unrelated scattered scary thoughts. There are some references in here that i'm not familliar with save for the "Dance you fucker" line which's said by Joe Peci in Goodfellas.This song always gives me the creeps and the perfect closer to the perfect "Hail to the Theif" album. |

As weired as it may sound,i think this is one of the few radoihead songs that has a positive message in it even though it's about death.To me,this song is about someone who looks back at his life before dying. He examines the life he had,the friends he made and the family he belonged to.And after examining all of this,he realizes that he did live and this makes him fearless of death and the next life.I listen to this song a lot when i'm depressed and it always makes me look at my life and realize that it's really worthy because of the people around me. |

Another one of the most depressing songs ever.I listened to this song for the 1st time when i saw the movie Dancer In The Dark which was more than great.This song reflects the state of Bjork's character in movie of not being able to see,how she's suffering because of that but at the same time not caring about all of this and being satisfied with the state she's in.I believe that is Bjork's finest work to date.The lyrics also refelcts the ugliness of the world.Well i just can't say anything more about this song except that whenever i hear it i can't stop myslef from crying.The whole thing is just breathtaking. |
