obviously, the song appears to be directed to a lover, but i just realized it could be directed towards a child as well. the way he's telling her not to listen to her friends and whatnot just sounds like he's talking to a child, then in the second verse of each stanza, he's reminiscing about being a child to her. perhaps the chorus is talking to himself
i dunno, just an alternate way to look at it, i personally think he's talking to a lover |

i have absolutely NO idea what he is saying afte r"she don't work..." which sucks, because it seems fairly significant to the meaning of the song
regardless, this is a fantastic song and i cannot believe he chose to push it to the end of the album (it is the hidden track on "It's A Wonderful Life"). so, so sad. i'm not sure who he's talking about, but apparently she's either fallen into a great depression or illness. very sad stuff, the mood of the song is perfect, but it leaves you feeling rather empty. |

this is his best song, im not kidding. i laughed so hard when he did the impression of his mother, goddamn it's classic. and its an amazing beat, and hailie is downright adorable. she seems to be having fun. the whole album seems to display how good of a father he is, i got some respect for the guy |

i love eminem hes my favorite rapper, but i wish people would stop using that moby diss as a point of reference. i swear to god thats the worst rhyme he's ever invented, and though theres lots of bad rhymes out there, this one really stands out. its so so so lame
and i like moby all right but this song is grating on my ears. its so obvious he wrote it as a single and didnt really put any thought into the lyrics. "we are all made of stars" is a pretty good line, but he needs filler so he puts "nothing can stop us now" which is fairly irrelevant to the whole song, it seems. lyrics havent always been his strong point though, look at "What Love", "All I Need Is To Be Loved", "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad", etc.
but i will say that out of the whole album this is the only one that realy really really sucks, its all either fair or good |

"to the boulevard of broken dreams"... well there you have it, the WORST lyric of the year from what will definitely be at least the worst single of the year (if not the worst song... don't know, haven't heard the whole album). this is just terrible, i can't explain how much contempt i have for this one track, it's beyond me that anyone could like it. it's too synth-poppy and feminine for testosterone-fueled metal-heads and too metal for synth-pop advocates, so i guess only idiots like it. jesus christ it's bad, yikes. literally, laughably bad. i love Kraftwerk and early 80's experimental synth songs, but this is just ... jesus christ. ugh. |

i agree with CouldHaveBeen, i was going to mention that earlier, but definitely thats one of the most powerful moments in any nin song ever. it's absolutely amazing. also the "happiness and peace of mind were never meant for me" is sung in a way that is incredibly sad. i love this song so much, after deep i thougth he had lost his touch
