ok, I'm worried about what the people are quoting on this song. I regularly followed news and politics when this whole iraq "war" got started. This was the start of any political interest I had and it grew really big for a while, so I was always watching news and reading stories from different news websites. A lot of people are misquoting.
When this whole "war" on terrorism got started, Bush's administration pulled together a whole bunch of "facts" that "proved" that Iraq was harboring terrorists and developing nuclear weapons. These facts were brought to the UN and to the american people. The presentation was based on trucks leaving warehouses in the middle of the night, not based on actual sightings of nuclear weapons. It was also based on a yellow powder that Iraq purchased from Nigeria or Niger which was proven to be harmless and nothing of any destructive nature. The UN did not buy Bush's "facts" and was hesitating to approve a UN sponsored check into Iraq. Bush was impatient and rallied his republican controlled congress to support him in a preemptive Iraq strike and search. They approved. In the process of the search, troops found several buildings which could have possibly at one time held wmds. There was no proof that they did actually hold them, but it was still possible. At the end of the search, our troops found nothing, including an absence of less harmful weapons Iraq used to have before the search in Iraq. So it's possible that Iraq had nukes, but unlikely.
I don't keep up with every detail anymore because it just pisses me off. I know that in the US's initial strikes against Iraq, there were at least 600-700 Iraqi deaths in the first few days. I have no idea how much that number grew in the following days and months, and even years now. I don't have a count on the number of Americans dead either, but I know the number is now soaring. The number of dead after September 11th was just over 3000. The number of deaths after striking Iraq is no doubt in that range or higher.
The problem with all this and with this song and everyone else fighting on here, this is all driven by emotion. Everyone here is trying to build facts on emotions. It doesn't work. People got emotional after 9-11 and wanted to go after some people with yellow skin. The outcome: The man responsible for the attacks that killed thousands of americans on September 11th is still at large.
Now, one question for all of you Bush supporters: Did he succeed? I'm not asking if he succeeded at liberating a country or anything else. Bush's initial justifications for the "war on terror" and the "war in Iraq" were not based on liberating a country. They were based on finding the man responsible for attacking our country. Did he succeed? DID HE SUCCEED? |

Let's just say that it's a guy talking about a girl. Their history is obsolete. regardless of if they previously dated or not, she's the girl that everyone else gets compared to... you know, the first love. No other relationship is worth carrying on with when her memory is constantly there nagging at you. Telling the current girl that you don't care about her as much as this other girl is the hardest thing, but when your feelings are as strong as they are for this girl who isn't there, it's the right thing to do to get rid of the current girl. |

It sounds like its about following your passions, although NathanielWhite's interpretation sounds pretty good. Almost everyone has some kind of passion that just isn't very practical. Mine is music, I want to spend $150k on my music education, then it's like "where am I going to get that kind of money from? I'll be a musician" but every so often I really just get lost on the wind of that dream, and none of those barriers seems to exist. No one trying to talk me out of it, somehow the money working out, somehow a decent career working out. That's what I think about hardcore when I hear this song. |

Honestly, I don't know how much this song was written on a spiritual basis, but it definately sounds like me with my christian life. Right after I became a christian, I was very strong in my faith and very conscious about all my actions and thoughts, but as time has gone on, all that excitement has died away. I've grown content with the fact that I drink and smoke way too much just for the hell of it, and that I don't have passion about anything anymore. I get conscious about political thought and how it contrasts to my spiritual thought. It makes it so easy to disregard everything I every thought I knew about God, myself and christianity. I feel like I have more common sense about worldy things, but I feel like I've lost my sense about spiritual things. This song just really says how I feel about all of this. It's like I had an out of body experience and became the guy who wrote this song for a little bit... |

Barcodesoldier, I think you are the first person who said they like the new juliana theory cd, and by the way, they aren't a christian band, they aren't really even emo anymore, they are like fake crap wanna be metal without screaming stuff. Their singer has sung in christian bands in the past and tooth and nail carries a lot of christian bands, but they aren't a christian label. FSF is not a christian band, they are christians in a band, and Juliana theory isn't even christians in a band, different band members have their different beliefs.
