This is probably my favorite lyrical work of Mr. Cuomo's. I just about lost control of my bladder when I heard the Green Day reference. ECW wrestlers get name-dropped, you get the Madame Butterfly references with good old Cio-Cio, and being a nerdy teenage guy I can relate to the theme of the song. Stand this up to "Dope Nose" and you see how far we've come. |

My opening line "Every one of you deserves to be shot in the face at point blank range. This has got to be the single corniest song ever to get played on mainstream rock radio, and I say this without hyperbole. My rationale?
1.) It has a chorus of "we are, we are, the youth of the nation."
2.) It's sung by a CHILDREN'S CHOIR.
Now, I'm all for passion and positivity in music, but emotion alone doesn't mean it's good [see: Eyes, Bright]. Here's hoping P.O.D. dies in a school shooting while doing a benefit concert at a Catholic junior high. |

I have to back I Am Not Amused. It's funny that everyone is willing to call him an idiot for insulting these lyrics, but not one of them can come up with a valid response to anything he said. At least Supriya here avoids that line of thinking, and I tip my hat in response. I would give my comments on the song here, but all you need to do is read I Am Not Amused's post, I mirror his thoughts. |

Oh, Jesus Christ. The fact that this song currently has a rating of 4.8 scares me to no end. I am a huge Weezer fan, but this has got to be the single worst song the band has ever put on one of their albums. I was incredibly disappointed the first time I heard this song [on a taped Weezer concert] and was SHOCKED to hear it picked as the first single over more obvious choices like "Keep Fishin". Meaning? I'd throw the lyrics under "random crap to fill space", and not even very good random words at that. Geez. I yearn for the Blue Album. |
