when i first heard the lines "Wake up and face me don't play dead, cause maybe someday I'll walk away and say 'you dissapoint me, maybe you're better off this way'" i thought of people who sulk, who refuse to talk to you when they don't get their own way in order to try and manipulate you. it's like apc is saying to this person, 'don't turn your back on me and pretend i'm not here until i agree with you, because maybe when you turn back around i'll be gone, after deciding you're better off alone anyway'. yeah i thought of that in terms of a relationship as well, and although i don't think it fits with the rest of the song it was an interesting way of talking about a very annoying tactic i thought |

yeah realised that after i wrote that...got confused with scorched earth...sorry! well it is still lightning war...so perhaps its saying that when armageddon comes it'll be too fast for us to do anything...thats why we gotta see if we'll survive, cos we wont be able to fight it...which would follow with the whole doomsday thing huh...
or, another thought, maybe they use "lightning war" cos of the whole natures fury thing...perhaps saying that when the end comes, it will be because of nature self-destructing, rather than anything us humans do... |

hey...this is such an awful reminder of the stupid shit that some bastards do, and some people have to suffer. sorry to all you out there that have suffered this, or know ppl that have. about the song, when i first heard it i thought it was from the point of view of a guy living down the hall from this woman...then i saw it as the child...but yeah, i think it can be both, tho its most probably the child. but never again will this neighbour let this happen to her...he's perhaps seen it before in other relationships, or in this relationship, but not this bad, and he wont let it happen again. who knows, its a terrible situation any way you look at it...its a great song tho |

oh it just occured to me, it could be from the person who went to the spca and chose the animal. saying im giving you love but you run away and hide from it. im expecting too much from an animal thats been wounded (it obviously hasnt had a good life if it's at an spca). when they were looking at the animals, choosing what to take home with them, they saw right through any scars the animal had, or the hostile way they treated them, and saw that it was a scared animal in need of love. but the animal doesnt see that this person wants to help, to them its just another human being out to hurt them. the fallen angel still represents the animal though... |

hey guys. there are so many different interpretations of this song! its excellent! i like the god one, and the prostitution one(if that isnt a range, i dont know what is) and the relationship one, and the overlooked one...ok so i like them all! but i was just re-reading the lyrics and trying to think of anything else it could mean and i came up with an animal at the spca. its from them saying "im showing u everything i have to offer, but apparently its nothing because you dont even notice me, you just go on by". its sad, because they need someone to pick them, but everyone just goes looking for something better, and ignores the "fallen angel...tragedy"...this abandoned (fallen), innocent (angel), animal. this tragedy because its so upsetting to see animals without homes who havent been treated right. i know that wouldn't have anything to do with what they meant when they wrote the song, but hey, random is my middle name :) |

i love this song, but they are kinda crazy lyrics aye? i think it may be about choices and beliefs : what you chose to love, what you chose to fear, what you chose to believe in(christ: a cross, or even if it's only a chair-it's your choice and your belief, despite what everyone else thinks of it) and whether or not they are right, wrong, meek or strong, they are the choices that you've made, and you'll stick by them even if you have to scream them out loud to let everybody else know that.
"i've willed, i've walked..."etc is like saying "i've lived this much of my life, and all my experiences have led me to this conclusion. i've been here before, i've already made this choice."
we wont be "raped" ie we wont have other peoples ideas and choices forced apon us. we wont let them scar us with their overbearing views.
im not too sure about the next bit, perhaps saying that the choices and beliefs you have are what are acting on your life (sun burning. wheel turning) and that your actions (the way you sing) is what lets other people know what you are all about, and lets them see this whole new way of living (their new dream).
im not sure about the last line either, but perhaps its saying that they'll stick to their choices and beliefs further, even if it seperates them from other people (up here) and that they'll earn people's respect or acceptance of those beliefs and choices from their seperated point, because they aren't gonna change them. |

i think it's at least partly about fame...or becoming famous...tryign to do it differently from everyone else, but telling u to remember who u r and where u r from, cos fame comes and goes (heroes...) but your past is always there so long as you dont loose yourself in the world of money... |

ok, this may be a bit long but here goes what i think of this song. some of my interpretations may seem a bit random, cos when i read the lyrics of this song it totally worked on what i've been thinking about for ages now, so some of it is related to what i personally believe, but if you can bear with me, i'll try make you all see what my view is.
the vampire is society : in our world it is based on money, with too little thought to what is important to people..."drain vitality" -we are beaten down by the trials we have to go through everyday to get by in our cut-throat world. i think maynard is saying all the way through that he holds out hope that things will change(he's still giving blood, he has a desire to heal the damaged and broken-he's trying to help the world through his music) and that if he didnt have that hope, that belief that people appreciate what he's doing, and that it is doing some good (rewards reaped...) then he would have "walked away"...quit the music industry, given up on life...see that to mean what you want. so basically, he's saying he has to have patience and keep hope that things will change, that people will change...but that he still might give up if he doesn't see any difference occuring...
the "tedious path" that he has chosen is one of trying to help the world...he's still "giving blood, keeping faith" but it is tedious because there is so much opposition to it by society and people who do not want to change things for the better of mankind.
basically its a fight against the drain of society, a fight against the cruelty in this world : he's fighting it, but he needs us to fight it too so that he can see there are other people who want the change, and so a change can be made. he has to be patient and keep going or else there isnt any hope left for us. sorry if this is all a bit off track, i cant exlain it as well as i see it! |

perhaps the weather already changed for the person he's talking to and he's saying "tell me about it, and you'll feel better"...you know, like when you are in a real shit mood and you tell a friend about everythign that's wrong, and you feel better. mention it to me and i'll help you change your mood for the better...or perhaps its like in a relationship when the mood shifts...things dont feel as right or perfect as before, and he's saying we gotta start talking about things, whatever has changed we gotta talk so we can change it back, or change again to make it better... |

almost all of that fits pretty well with what i think...the religious idea is interesting, but i can see where it came from. i just think the song is about the givers and takers in life. some people are overly generous and others will jsut use everyone for everything they can get. to me the song is about what happens when the giver finally snaps and says take everything i have and then piss off cos im done feeding you my life. |

blitzkrieg is a german word, literally translated it means "lightning war"...this was a technique used by both germans and russians in world war 2 if im correct...it basically destroyed everythign in the paths of the enemy as they retreated, therefore leaving the land devastated. just interesting to know...lol |
